Hearing some weird buzzing noise

I have a problem. For reason, after I wake up my MBP from sleep, it makes this really weird buzzing noise somewhere from the middle of the laptop. It sounds like something electrical is short circuiting or something. This isn't normal correct? Because if it is, it's really loud and super annoying. Has anyone else had this issue before? It's happening on my 15" MBP, Core 2 Duo, 2.16 GHz. I bought it from Apple store Stonestown, and it's not even 3 weeks old yet.
Should I go see the genius? I don't think he's going to be able to hear the whine/buzz noise since it's always loud there..argh, what an annoyance.

My MBB which is a 2.0 core duo I bought a year ago, has just started making a noise that comes from the same area. Its more like a fluttery buzz. Sounds something that is rotating rapidly and and slightly clipping something--like maybe something is misalligned. Not horribly loud, but very annoying. And it goes away when I turn the laptop completely upside down, which again makes me thing something is just loose. I have been traveling a lot lately and assume that just bumping through airport security etc. might be the problem.
Is this something the apple store could possibly fix on site or does it sound like a drive replacement issue. Also, has anyone replaced a MATSHITADVD-R UJ-857 with a faster one? And if how much will that cost and what are pros and cons?

  • Hp Stream Laptop makes weird buzzing noises whenever audio plays

My new HP STREAM Laptop that I have not even had for a month is making weird buzzing sound whenever I listen to things such as youtube, netflix, spotify, and pandora. It's happened since the first day I got it. Please advise.

    Hi @asitzes ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome.  I have looked into your issue with the Video sounding weird or buzzing  from your HP Stream Notebook PC. This could be the browser itself.
What browser are you using to view the Videos? This link will also check if it is up to date.
Have you tried a different browser?
Have you tried a regular DVD? Is the sound buzzing here?
    Please let me know.
    Thanks.

  • Weird ringing noise when laptop is plugged into AC - HP ENVY 14-2050se Beats Edition Notebook PC

Hi, last month I bought this HP ENVY 14-2050se Beats Edition Notebook from a nearby electronics store and I loved it from first sight. Except a few problems emerged when I first turned it on at home. First, yes I did a full hp recovery factory restore when I got home. It is running Windows 7 Home Premium and I already tried muting the microphone and speakers and it has not solved the problem whatsoever but it only shows up when I have my Envy plugged into AC power, on battery it makes no noises.
The problem is that whenever it is plugged in it makes a weird ringing noise which is very clear and hearable to me and my friends and gives me headaches constantly. The noise is almost identicle to that ringing noise you get in your ears after hearing very loud noises. I tried using my mom's HP ac adapter on my Envy and it still produces the noise so its not the adapter itself im assuming. Also, sometimes when playing music or watching videos on youtube it will hang for a split second or so once every while and make a weird buzzing noise, im assuming that could be normal behavior though and im not as worried about that so much as my other problem.
Any help is greatly appreciated, I just want to enjoy this great laptop!
    Sincerely, Lance Shults

Hi, you aren't the only one.
I have a HP Envy, and I have this rining noise as well.
    it is odd.
If I had to take a guess (I've been in IT for almost 17 years), I think it might be the power supply for some reason, in the laptop.  Not the external supply.
Nearest I can say is it is a fast paced ring/ding.
    Is yours similar?

  • MBP 15'' retina display making a constant buzzing noise

I purchased my first MBP about three months ago, I have been wanting one for years and FINALLY
saved up enough, I use it everyday and have never had a problem, until now..
There is a weird buzzing noise, it's super annoying and it's constant..
I just tipped it upwards to listen, and it started making a horrible scratching noise, along with the buzzing. (not doing that again)
However the buzzing is still constant, the only time it stops is when it is shut off completely.
I just want it to go away!!!!!
    I'm absolutely heartbroken about this.
does anyone have any suggestions on what my next move should be?
It is sunday so all the mac stores will be closed by the time i am off work.
Should I stop using it? I don't want to make it worse.
    HELP! PLEASE!
    ,Molly

Are you using a case or something?
Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)
Note: You will not lose any data.

We have a MacBook Pro and it is usually quiet, but it sits in a stand to allow air under the bottom.
Just my opinion, but based on experience.
You are still eligible to purchase the longer term AppleCare warranty I think (3 years if my memory is correct). While it is an expense that you may never need, in my opinion, it is cheap insurance based on the cost to repair computers. I buy it and more than once it has paid for itself many times over. Not that Apple products are bad, but electronics do weird things at times.

Help Me please!!

    See this veeeeeeeeeery long thread.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3404857
It's an issue with hundreds of phones.  Some claim it's software related, some hardware, some say it's a mixture of both.
Some people have had temporary success with quitting the Phone.app / restoring as a new phone / restoring from an iCloud backup / disabling Siri / toggling speakerphone on & off...
Unfortunately all of the above only been temporary, with the problem recurring again after a few calls, or a few days etc.
So far the only solution that seems permanent has been to replace the phone.  But even so, it's the luck of the draw to recieve a functional phone, and not another faulty one.
I'm completely annoyed as there is no Apple Store near me...... and Apple haven't even acknowledged the issue, despite the above thread being 34 pages long, as of writing.

  • Some kind of buzz/noise coming out of the desktop speakers when I connect my iPhone 6 plus to my desktop speakers.  Help?

I have the iPhone 6 plus with the current update 8.02.  As soon as I connect my phone to my desktop speaker jack, I can hear an intermittent, low-level buzz/noise coming out of the speakers.  I've never experienced this noise with my iPhone 4S or my laptop connected.
Is this maybe a grounding issue with the phone? Could mine be defective?
I just tried a friend's 6 plus and his doesn't make the same noise.
    Thanks for your feedback.

I have the iphone 6 plus and when I play a ringtone or a video or music and stop it, the speaker of my phone make a little sound like shhhhhh haha, why? and still there for a few seconds and sometimes minutes

  • Dv7 beats audio makes a buzzing noise or some kind of speaker feed back

when i play music speakers sometimes make a buzzing noise seems to happen more on the bass side

I just installed a Mac Pro for a client. After a while I noticed this buzzing everyones talking about. It was especially bad after I installed two more internal drives. It seemed to come and go with HD activity. I pulled up the lever on the back of the machine when it was particularly loud and the buzzing went away. So like some others have noticed it's associated with the HD bays. I took the side off and adjusted the seating of the drives so they were exactly centered Now the buzzing is gone. I'll keep an eye on it. Maybe it will need some kind of silicone bumpers where the bay trays are metal to metal.
    More research to come.

  • IMac Has Flashing Folder and Weird Buzzing/Reading Noise on Startup! Help!

My 2008 iMac froze last nite, and now wont turn back on. It boots to a gray screen with a flashing folder with a question mark on it.
The weird part is that as soon as i turn it on, it makes a loud buzzing/reading noise, as if its trying to read a disc or hard drive. It buzzes like this about ten times, and then stops.
I cant find my install discs, so im currently at a total standstill. Any other solutions besides reinstall? Also, what is the weird buzzing/reading noise?
    Thanks!

Ok I got the 10.5 install discs, but I still cant boot. I tried holding C and it gets to the Apple logo, but then the screen goes gray and says "you need to restart your computer"
When I try holding D to run diagnostics, it gives me the language choice and then says something like this system does not support hardware test.
I cant boot into single-user mode unless i have the install disc in, but then it just checks the install disc and says it's fine.
    Any thoughts?

I bumped my iPad onto my knees and I can now hear a weird noise, almost like something lose or a static kind of sound - does anyone know what this is please.?

Can't tell what the noise is. Make an appointment at an Apple store to have your iPad examined.

  • Broken power board ZIF and buzzing noise

    Hey all,
This is my first post on the forum! Thanks so much for providing such a welcoming atmosphere.
I have a GE70 20E laptop that I disassembled recently to do some repairs on, and when I was putting it back together I snapped the little black plastic thing that holds the power board connector in place.
I looked up some guides for the problem and eventually took the ZIF, replaced it as best I could, and held it down with electrical tape. The computer booted and everything was mostly fine. The power and fan indicators weren't lighting up, but I had a functional laptop. Eventually I started hearing little popping sounds coming from that area of the computer that I attributed to a speaker problem because it mostly happened when the volume was high. About a day ago the popping graduated to full-blown buzzing, which scared me.
I went in and reapplied the electrical tape to the ZIF and power board connector and it fixed the power and fan indicators, but the popping remains. In light of that, three questions.
    1) Is the laptop safe to use?
    2) Is there a more permanent solution I should be trying?
    3) Failing that, does anyone have any tips on how to better the electrical tape fix?
Thanks so much for your help!

It's definitely not the speakers! I was using Skype and the buzzing got worse when I starting using the onboard webcam - it's definitely the power board connector. Last night I did some poking around and got the buzzing noise reduced, but I just did it by scotch taping this
over the connector. With that in place the sound works fine, the indicators are working, and the only sign that there's any problem at all is a crackle on start-up that goes away after a minute. Assuming it's stable and it stays functional, should I just be happy with that? I'm worried that taking it to a repair place would cost me a bunch of money I don't have for a fix that's basically no better than what I already did. I'm mostly just worried that the problem will come back now that I've got it working - those connectors seem really precarious.

  • Regza TV 26AV605PG - base required and buzzing noise

I have just bought a second hand Regza TV but it doesn't have a base so I have two questions here:
Is there somewhere I can get a seond hand base?
Are other bases compatible that I can search for - in the UK?
I have a buzzing noise on the TV which wasn't there a day or so ago.
What should I check to see what is causing it.?
I have checked all the connections are in correctly.
It is connected to a set top box, video and Dvd
Thanks in advance for your help

I think with new base will be pretty problematic. I mean I understand your questions but such info about compatibility is I think for Toshiba service because they have all parts number for each part and can say if the certain part can be used on different models.
Try to contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help or advice. In worst case buy flat wall bracket and problem is solved. Check also eBay. Maybe you will be lucky and find such part.
Buzzing noise. On this virtual way it is not easy to say why this happen. Can you hear it all the time, no matter which external audio/video source you use?
Is some WLAN device or phone placed near the TV?

  • Apple Hardware Test (AHT), buzzing noise, fan blows loud, & AHT crashes

    Hi there,
I've finally had it with some hardware issues that I've had since day 1 of owning this G5 Dual 1.8.
    Running10.4.9 OSX...
Nothing that has affected my day to day working-yet, but growing problems, fans get loud, awful buzzing noise from inside the tower comes and goes and grows in volume when it's happening. I believe it's coming from the internal drive bays... Both of which are filled with 2 new SATA Seagate internals that don't appear to be slowing up or spinning a processing error when I'm working...
When I run an Apple Hardware Test, The AHT disc crashes each time at the 5 minute and :12 second mark while "In Progress" on the "Mass Storage" test, it freezes and the fan gets loud. I do a hard restart to get up and running ok each time afterwards.
I've never received a complete AHT result of tests summary, ever, so I don't know what's really wrong, ever. But I know something is not right. Using Disk Utility is a joke, SMART status is always "verified" of course, no obvious system software errors.
I'm using the disc that came with my G5 "Additional Software Apple Hardware Test":
    AHT Version 2.2.2
    Disc Version: 1.1
I've scoured Apple knowledge base for anything on this version-but nothing.
Any suggestions please. IS there any hardware testing software out there besides the faulty AHT disc software Apple provides? The nearest Apple store is over an hour and half away, I just don't have time to drive there to hear the same thing I already know, and if I could pinpoint the problem myself with proper software, I can handle doing the maintenance....
    Please help!
    Thanks!
    DAve

Some G5s had a firmware update that caused problems with the version of Apple Hardware Test that shipped with the G5. The Latest G5 Apple Hardware Test is 2.2.5
Call Apple and see if you can get it.
Another hardware test is TechTool Pro

Meanwhile, try testing with some of the RAM removed. Try different combinations of RAM modules and slots. Always use them in pairs.
