Heart Rate Monitor compatibility

is the Polar Monitor: http://www.polar.fi/us-en/products/accessories/PolarWearLink_transmitterNike
compatible with any nike+ configuration? I'm using a second generation nano with the nike plus dongle and sensor.

The Polar Wearlink+ Nike+ heart monitor is only compatible with the 5th generation iPod nano.
If you want to track heart rate on an iPhone or iPod touch, there is a company that developed a dongle that ( like the popular Nike+system ) creates a wireless bridge.
Digifit uses a different technology called ANT+ and it is interoperable with > 80 sensors currently being sold by big brands like Garmin, Adidas, Spinning® and other leaders in the industry.

  • IOS8 8.0.2 Bluetooth will not connect to Heart rate Monitor H7

I have just switched over to the iPhone 6 and it is running the 8.0.2 IOS 8 version but it will not pick up or pair with my Heart rate Monitor. We saw the same issue when Updating to 8.0.2 on the iPhone 5. It looks like when you update to the new IOS it will break the Bluetooth connecting option to the drive that worked on IOS 7 or before.
I thought this would be an issue with the HR monitor but it works fine on any device until yu update to IOS 8. I would say this is a backwards compatibility issue with IOS 8 not connecting to devices that iPhone used to connect to in Earlier IOS versions.
Are there any plans to fix this bug in IOS 8 to allow for being able to use Devices that worked in previous IOS versions?

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.10 ("Yosemite"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • Pairing my headphones and heart rate monitor at the same time

I want to know if I will be able to use my Jaybird Bluetooth headset and my Runtastic heart rate monitor at the same time?

It shouldn't be a problem. I do it with various BT headsets and a Wahoo HR monitor. You can have multiple BT devices connected to an iPhone at the same time as long as they aren't the same type of device (two speakers, two HR monitors).

  • What heart rate monitors will pair with the new iPod nano?

Are there heart rate monitors that will pair with the new 7th generation iPod nano?

It's supposed to support "Bluetooth Smart" HR monitors.

  • How do I count and display events every few seconds and then convert the counted values into events per minute? (for a heart rate monitor)

    Hi everyone,
I'm building a heart rate monitor as a final year project with my lab partner using the NI USB-6009 and Labview 2009. We have managed to obtain a signal using a photo transciever, smooth it out and count the events, however the count is incremental.
We wish to count the number of pulses we obtain for a few seconds (5-10 for example) and then use this value to obtain a pulse rate in beats per minute (e.g. 10 pulses in the first 10 seconds would give an estimated BPM of 60 etc etc).
Does anybody have ides on how we could implement this? We have tried timed loops, elapsed time VI's and other things but nothing gives us what we need.
Thanks in advance for any help that is offered.
    Jeshua Graham.

We are very new to Labview. We are taking a raw signal from our DAQ and then using VIs to filter and then trigger counts on rising edges. I have attached our vi file to this post for you to look at (I hope that is what you mean by code).

  • Help connecting to external heart rate monitor

From all I've read, chest strap heart rate monitors seem to be more accurate. So I will continue to use my wahoo tickr for my gym workouts. I followed the instructions to pair my watch to the tickR from the settings menu under Bluetooth but it just continues to search and never finds it. Has anyone had any luck doing this?

Make sure you HRM isn't connected to anything else, like the app in your phone.  When I closed the wahoo app down, then the watch was able to connect.  So, it can only be connected to one device at a time.

  • Is there a way to track calories of a workout with heart rate monitor?

I got a polar heart monitor and like how it tracks my HR during runs. However, I am wondering if there's  a way to track my calories burnt doing something like circuit training.

It's just common sense to me.  Someone who is in great shape will be burning X calories at a certain heart rate, doing whatever amount of physical activity.  Someone who is in poor shape will have a certain heart rate, while doing less physical activity, and therefore burning fewer calories.  The simple device cannot know you (as an individual) at such a deep level, to base an estimate on calories using just your heart ratee
My iPod just asks for my weight and height, and uses that as the basis for estimating calories burned.  I could be a fat couch potato or an NFL pro linebacker.  That is not enough information to calculate an accurate calories number, based on heart rate alone.  There has to be a component in the exercise that counts predictable and consistent physical movement.  Taking a step while running or walking IS something the device can count, and provide a reasonably accurate calories number.
Then why is this heart rate monitor able to be used to calculate calories if I buy a watch which syncs with it?
I think you answered your own question.  It can do it IF you buy the watch device, but not without the watch device.  The heart rate monitor can provide a calories estimate IF the watch device provides it with something that it is counting during the exercise.  For example, if the watch has GPS, it can provide the distance you traveled.

  • Unable to use Garmin Heart Rate Monitor (ANT+) with iOS 8.

I have a new iPhone 6. On my previous iPhone 5 with iOS 7 I used Digifit to track my exercise and monitor my heart rate with a Garmin Heart Rate monitor and never had any problem with it. I use an ANT+ 30-pin transceiver attached with Apple's 30-pin to lightning connector to connect to the Garmin Heart Rate Monitor. Since getting my new iPhone 6, when I try to start an exercise program in Digifit it hangs while trying to connect the the sensors. I handed down my old iPhone 5 to my daughter and tried it with her's, which is now updated to iOS 8, with the same results. Therefore I believe it must be a problem with iOS 8.
    Anyone else have similar issues?
I wonder if it is related to the HealthKit bug?
    Solutions?
    Thanks!

I have been advised by apple that although my apple devices have Bluetooth 4 it is better to run with ANT + !!!  Can I use ANT + with these new apple devices.  The wahoo fitness ANT key

that I have been advised to buy I think is for old apple devices ?? Will this fit iphone 6 and IPad air 2 ?
As I've never seen an ANT adapter for a lightning connector, I can't imagine why "apple" would give you that advice. Sounds as if the person you were talking to might not be an athlete? I've heard that people have managed to kind of make the old Wahoo key work with the adapter that Apple sells for using older 30-pin accessories with the newer phones with lightning connectors. It sounds like a mess and a disaster waiting to happen to me. I'm also not sure why you should not use BT. I've found it works fine.
You might want to take a look at Wahoo's RFLKT+:
    http://www.wahoofitness.com/devices/rflkt.html
It's not the total answer to your issue but it might help.
Also, see the link I posted above to DC Rainmaker's site. You'll find lots of great information on training gadgets there.
    Best of luck.

  • IPhone 3GS Heart Rate Monitor - Chest Strap via Bluetooth

Hello, as we're in the UK we can't use SM Heart Link - are there any other ways we can connect a chest heart rate monitor to the iphone 3GS to use while running/ cycling?
    Thanks.

  • I am unintentionally come to delete the bluetooth connection to my heart rate monitor in my iPhone 4s. How can I restore the connection?

I am unintentionally come to delete the bluetooth connection to my heart rate monitor in my iPhone 4s. How can I restore the connection?

Thanks, but unfortunately for me the Polar H7 does not have any buttons or anything that can actively affect the pairing, it is manifest just a transmitter. Pairing can apparently only be done by finding the Polar H7 in the unit that you want to pair with (my 4s) and after my delete of the device, my iPhone 4s does not retrieve it as a Bluetooth device.

  • Heart Rate Monitor Recommendations for iPhone 4S and/or iPod 3G?

I've recently started using the Nike+ app and sensor for tracking my walking/treadmill activity.  Unfortunately, it does not work on an elliptical machine, but it's still a lot of fun and I'm doing something good for myself in the process.
The next step is to track my heart rate during exercises, which requires a heart rate monitor (strap) that communicates back to an iPhone app.  I think I've exhausted the possibilities of getting any heart rate monitor to communicate back to the Nike+ app, unless I'm willing to purchase a brand new Nano and cut my music catalog down by a tenth, so that isn't happening.  So I'm looking at a heart rate monitor that will communicate with a widely used, reliable and/or low cost iPhone 4S app, preferably one that can work at the same time as the Nike+ app that is stock, resident and free on the iPhone and which I use and will continue to use while walking with the Nike+ sensor that gets attached to my shoelaces.
The next step is the heart rate monitor itself (strap).  Lots and lots of choices out there but all roads lead toward Wahoo Fitness and their combination ANT+ plug into the base of the iPhone, and the heart rate monitor strap.  Looks like I can get them both on Amazon for about $60, which is a lot cheaper than I saw elsewhere.  Very expensive line of products.  And lots of "hopefullys" - hopefully, it won't drain my battery down on moderate to long walks; hopefully, I can run their app and the Nike+ app at the same time without interfering with one another (they do have a stride sensor but that's just more money that I've already spent on the Nike+ sensor which works fine); and hopefully, the stock strap will fit a 52" - 54" chest (I'm a big guy, they offer no data, they have no contact number, I'd have a drop them a support email and just wait for a response, company reputation for customer service is not good).
So am I looking at the best choice for my needs, or has anyone else recently purchased a similar system for measuring heart rate, stride and/or any other critical components of their exercise routine?  I am up for suggestions and not making any purchases so fast.
Last but not least, my current Nike+ app and sensor also work with my old iPod 3G running iOS5, I'm hoping that whatever I wind up with will work on that setup as well.
    Thank you.

Thank you very much for the response.  I actually purchased and have already returned a Polar heart rate monitor strap and a Nike+ Sportsband.  I could not even get them to work, and the strap was very small on me (I've got a 54" chest).  All roads lead towards Wahoo, but customer support is ABYSMAL.  You basically have to email them a question and wait for a response back, they have no chat or phone.  Ridiculous.  Anyway, my questions to them are pretty basic, maybe you can answer:
1.) The strap that you recommend works only with the 4S, which is fine, but I also have an iPod 3G that I'd like to use as well.  Some of their other straps are compatible with both.
2.) There's no measurement on the Polar strap that I just returned, so I have no way of comparing the fit on one or more of these Wahoo straps versus the Polar one.  I know that I just need a big one (XXL or better).  How is the fit on the one that you have?
3.) The whole reason why I initially went the Polar/Nike+ route was to go with the least complicated setup to get real time data on stride, distance, calories, etc. PLUS heart rate.  All on pretty much two screens (iPhone and Sportband), and with the idea that I could still multitask during a workout (i.e. check email, send a text, toggle between any open apps, etc.).  All of my research so far indicates that a Wahoo setup is going to have problems with this.  First, the rumor is that no app using a Wahoo heart monitor strap is going to allow you to exit that app and still take active readings (again, this would not have been a problem with the Sportband, but I couldn't get it to work).  Then even if that works, I don't know if the chosen Wahoo app will be able to measure heart rate while Nike+ and a shoe sensor are still measuring stride, distance, etc. (i.e. will they interfere with one another?  Will I be forced to purchase the Wahoo stride sensor too, and then it gets back to which apps work with the stride sensor, will they allow multitasking, etc.?)
It would be SO much easier for me if these Wahoo folks had a PHONE and could answer my questions.  To make purchases, try things out, return them, etc. that's crazy.  Waiting a day or two for presales questions in this day and age is unacceptable, but that's where I'm at.  I'd appreciate your continued input on this.
Btw, there is a third option beyond Polar/Nike+ and Wahoo, and that's Garmin, but the app reviews were horrible.  Wahoo was the cheapest overall, I just need to know that it's going to work and serve my needs before making the purchase.
    Thanks.

  • IOS7.0.4 does not recognize my smart bluetooth heart rate monitor

I just upgraded to ios7.0.4.  My iphone 4s finds my smart bluetooth heart rate monitor, but does not communicate with it.  The heart rate monitor i am using is a BlueHR by Wahoo Fitness.  It has a utility app to check connectivity.  When I run that app it says bluetooth 4.0 is detected.  it then connects to my heart rate monitor and displays a constant number.  This is my third BlueHR (the first one was stolen but worked fine on IOS6).  I bought a second one with these bad results, I though it was bad so I returned it and replaced it with a new one. I go the same results.  Everything has appeared to happen since I updated to IOS7.0.4.

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • Phone sensors have quit working.  Including accelerameter, gyroscope, and heart rate monitor.

For no apparent reason my samsung fitness app quit working, as did the heart rate monitor sensor.  then afterwards the gyroscope quit working and the pedometer.  I have tried everything including a hard reset with no return of use.  Please help

Go to all apps and force stop the fitness app, > clear both cache and data. > shut down and uninstall. Do a soft reset only and then reinstall the app and set up.

  • GPS Heart Rate Monitors

If you’re in the market for a new heart rate
monitor then there’s something important you should consider: whether or not
you want a model that includes GPS functionality.  While this feature is by no means necessarily
to get the most out of your workout, GPS functionality gives you the ability to
measure the distance you travel and your overall pace – both things that cannot
easily be done with single-function heart rate monitors.  Many GPS-enabled models are also watches,
allowing the device to automatically adjust time zone settings whenever and
    wherever you travel.

I was at the Torrance store and no one on staff seems to know anything about these watches, or can discuss the benfits of one over another. Also, the website is very unclear. My main question that I asked is how well does the Garmin Forerunner 310 track a swim (I do triathlons) compared to the Nike/Tom Tom GPS watch. Also, what is the quality of the computer software that comes with these vs. the Timex Global Trainer which Best Buy used to carry. Is it true that for the Timex you need to pay an additional monthly fee to access all of the features of the software for the watch?
