Heart Shape, group shapes and add photo?

I am trying to make a poster that has several hearts with photos in them.
I have created a heart shape by making a diamond and two circles and grouping them together. Now I would like to put a photo in that shape but it seems that the fill function is grayed out. I can't even change the color. I then tried to use the heart shape as a mask over the photo but can only use the standard shapes, not my grouped shape. I have tried using the freeform shape tool but just can't seem to make a heart with it. Any suggestions on how to approach this?

I once did this in Keynote by drawing a heart shape using the 'draw a shape' option (and yes, it took a LONG time to get it right, because getting the curves right is such a pain). I then formatted the shape (in Inspecdtor -> graphic) so that it was a heavy line of the appropriate color and selected "image fill" for the fill.

Yes, you can do this. Drag the music track to the background and start adding your pictures. A great way to do this is to use beat markers so your photos will change on the beat.
A really fast way to do this is to line up your photos in an iPhoto album in the order you want them. You can drag the whole album into iMovie at once.

I've a requirement where I need to add rectangle shapes to the application and I should add text, image and button. I checked with Rectangle shape, but it will not allow us to add controls within that. Please let me know how can I do the same.

Just add the Rectangle and the TextBlocks and Image to the same Grid:
<Grid Width="100">
<Rectangle Width="100" Height="100" Fill="Green"/>
<Image Source="pic.png" Width="10" Height="10" Margin="20"/>
<TextBlock Margin="10 5 10 5">text...</TextBlock>
</Grid>
The TextBlock will end up on top of the Image that will end up on top of the Rectangle using the above sample markup. Use the Margin property to control the position of the elements.

Can you draw a shape and add it to an application?

I am totally new to Flex and Flash, action script and all

I have written some code that draws a shape using Graphics2D.
What I am after being able to do is create this shape then place it in a cell of a JTable.
One Other thing is I need to create different color shapes for each row in the table.
is this posable ??

As for creating different color shapes for different cells of the jtable, it is definitely possible once you have a custom renderer for your jtable. Just read up on how to create custom table cell renderer.

Cut a heart shape out of one photo and put on another

I just installed pse 10 tonight and I need to frame out a part of a picture in a heart shape and put that heart shape on a layer so I can put that layer over my background photo. How do I do this. Also, the pse 10 box shows a couple with happy anniversary around their picture in a circle and flowers surrounding the circle. Can anyone help me?

You can add a solid color fill layer or drag your background image from the project bin into the main window with your heart. Then drag the background layer down the layer stack so that it sits below the heart layer and shows through the transparency.

Cutting, slicing and erasing PHOTOS and imported images in Illustrator cs4!

Hey everyone,
Could someone help me out?
I was wondering how would i do this, either of the following, cutting with scissor tool, slicing with knife or erasing photos with the erase tool which have just been brought into Illustrator? I know where the tools are located, but what are the steps, do i need to convert the image into a certain type of element/graphic, rasterize, use clipping mask ini some way etc?

It's been a long time since this was posted but I wanted to throw an answer out there for anyone still looking to do this.
A couple easy ways that may work for your project is:
1. A Clipping Mask. Create a shape over the photo, any shape. Then select both the shape and the photo. Once the shape and the photo are selected go to Object> Clipping Mask> Make. This will crop your photo to what ever shape you created on top. It's an easy way to trim any unwanted parts of your photo.
2. With your photo selected, click the direct selection tool (the white arrow), and directly alter and resize your photo (without effecting the proportions) using the anchor points shown around your photo. Sometimes you have to click your object then click anywhere outside your object to see the anchor points.

How do I add photos from another collection to my saved Book?

Hi,
In my lightroom library I have created a collection set called "Wedding". As I have 1000 photos from my wedding, within this Collection Set I have created 10 or more Collections to organise these photos (Ceremony, Reception, First Dance, etc.).
I have created a new 'Book' which as expected, has created a new Collection within my 'Wedding' collection set.
When I first create the book (before saving it) it seems like I can click on a page, then browse my Collections and add the photo that I desire to the page.
After I have saved the book, I can't so this. I want to work on my book later, and use my existing organisation of photos, and add photos to my books from these collections.
I know I am missing something basic (I am new to lightroom). I don't understand why I can't add a photo to my book after I have saved it.
Each time I click on one of my other collections, a new unsaved book appears in the main project window.
I have worked out that if I copy all my wedding photos into the new "Book" collection, then my photos are available for use - but this defeats the purpose of organising my photos into separate collections, and it doesn't seem like you can create a sub-collection within the Book project.
I also can't seem to find any documentation to explain this properly.
Any help would be apreciated - or if I coud be pointed to a good resource.

I saw these discussions previously, but not of them seem to answer my question (nor confirm that what I am trying to do cannot be done).
If I want to create a "Wedding Album" book, do I have to firstly use the Library module to drag ALL the photos I may want to use into my "Wedding Album" collection (saved book) ?
This seems annoying as I have already categorisied my 1000+ wedding photos into separate Collections using the Library (so that I can find the one I want easier).
It seems as though the Book module would function much better if you could create a book, choose a page that you want to add a photo to, then browse through your pre-configured collection sets & collections, and add photos to the book from the navigation panel on the left when you have the "Book" module open. (Rather than having to copy the photo first into the "Book" 's Collection, then adding it to the page that you want)

Why can't I "add photos to photo.app" from Safari?

I only use Safari for the ability to grab and "add" photos or images directly from Safari into (previously - iphoto) but now it's Photo.app. Why does this feature cease to work? Why are there so many more steps to using Photo.app. I do not think this is an improvement to download to my drive then go to the Photo.app to then import the image.
My OS is 10.10.3. Am I the only one having this issue? Anyone find a workaround because Firefox is the clear winner if this little feature has been stripped away in Photo.app.

My irritations and query is because that option no longer works for me. The option is "available" but does nothing to right click for the menu options to "add to photo". It produces no action whereas it use to direct right into iphoto where I could make quick notes or the reference regarding why I wanted the image.
I can only download the image then go and import into Photo.app. I can't even drag the image over in order to make quick notes while I remember why I was collecting the image in the first place.
I am not sure if there are enough users of Photo.app at this time having this issue or at least not enough powerusers who relied on this once handy feature to note the disappearance in Photo.a
I wrote this up as a feature request. I hope others do too. Or tell me how to resolve this because I don't think Apple software engineers have considered the break in communication between Safari and Photo.app. Maybe it's intentional. IDK

How do I add photos to the new iCloud plans

I just upgraded to one of the new iCloud plans, and I would like to move my photos from Dropbox to it.
Couple questions:
1- How do I create folders and add photos to them?
2- Does this also work for music? or Do I need a separate iTunes Match plan?
I use iPhone, iPad and PC; any help is appreciated.

Can not Group text and shape/object

I have previously made frequent use of grouping text and objects or images together. But in Keynote 4.0.2 this is not possible (for me at least). I am able to lock multiple images, but the group, mask and alpha buttons are not active when selecting a combination of the two (text and objects). Images or objects can be grouped together. Is this a bug or what ?

Open a NEW presentation (it should default to the Title and Subtitle slide of the theme)
Type some text into the Title
Insert a shape (square)
Select the shape and the Title
You should see that you cannot group anything with either the Title or Subtitle object of a slide. If you want to group text to an object, you have to create a new text object. Would this describe your inability to group (ie. limited to when you have Title/Subtitle selected?)

I am not aware of a heart, square, circle or lasso shape i=for editing in iphoto for the Mac - Maybe you are thinking of iPhoto for IOS which has been discontinued and is not available under IOS 8

"I've tried the draw tool but no success." - Do you mean the tool in the shapes pull-down? It seems to work for me, but I'm not an artist. You might try importing a heart shape you want then use the draw tool to trace around it to get the correct outline you are looking for. When making a shape with the drawing tool, don't forget to place the last edit point over the first and double-click to complete the shape outline. Once drawn, use the graphic tab of the Inspector to assign a fill color. Clicking inside the shape should allow you to add text.
