Heat while using gps navigation

I am using iPhone 6 Plus and use GPS Navigation (google maps app) quite frequently. I have observed that the phone gets hot very quickly. I would say in around 5 mins of use one could feel the temperature rising. Is this normal? I am not using any case and this happenes even when there is no Sun exposure.

When you use Google Maps it downloads the maps as you travel. This uses cellular data. If you don't have a strong cellular signal the phone will get warm, as well as using up a lot of battery power.

  • How to keep screen on while using Sprint Navigation?

  • No charge while using GPS app...

I'm using the MotionX-GPS app on a iPhone 3G. On a 3 hour road trip recently, I connected the phone to the car charger cable and proceeded on my trip. I noticed that even though the phone was on the charge cord, the battery was still depleting at a good pace. It finally used up the phone battery about 1 hour into the trip, and I had to turn off the GPS function. To keep the phone display from turning off, I disabled the autolock function to force the screen display to be on all the time. Why wouldn't the phone maintain a battery charge while on the auto charge cord? Was the power drain more than the charger could keep up with? This problem keeps me from using my iPhone as a GPS nav device. On the trip back, I only used the GPS app as needed, and turned it off to let the phone charge back up.

Most likely the car adapter cannot supply enough power. There are two types of USB chargers, 1/2 amp and 1 amp. Computers generally supply only 1/2 amp, so this would be the likely problem if you connect to a computer USB port. If you are using a charger made for cars check its specs and make sure it can supply 1 amp at 5 volts.
    Added:
Another possibility is that the charger is defective. Do you see a "charging" indication on the phone (lightning bolt on the battery icon)?

  • Excessive heat while using BootCamp/FSX

    Hello,
I am using BootCamp to run FSX and it is working fine; however, I am concerned with the amount of heat my MBP is generating. It becomes uncomfortable for the lap after awhile. Is this a serious concern, or is heat normal and not harmful?
    My thanks in advance.

    FWIW you should not be using your MBP on your lap. It is a notebook not a laptop. Read your Users Guide page 66;
Proper handling Set up your MacBook Pro on a stable work surface that allows for
adequate air circulation under and around the computer. Do not operate your
MacBook Pro on a pillow or other soft material, as the material can block the airflow
vents. Never place anything over the keyboard when operating your MacBook Pro.
Never push objects into the ventilation openings.
The bottom of your MacBook Pro may become very warm during normal use. If your
MacBook Pro is on your lap and gets uncomfortably warm, move it to a stable work
    surface.

  • How to talk while using gps?

I like to make phone calls during long drives but it seems I cannot do this on iPhone 5 (iOs 8.1.1).  The turn by turn directions stop and I must end the call for them to continue.  Is it possible, in any way, to do these 2 things at once?

Thanks to all for the clarification.  It is surprising, as has been said, that others have offered this multi-tasking from the beginning while some iPhone usage lacks it.  Technology offers so much benefit, there is nothing wrong with being a bit patient, I suppose.
Many of the 4G LTE Android phones that Verizon sells have two separate chips, one for CDMA and one for 4G/LTE. The CDMA is used for voice, the 4G/LTE for data. On those phones, as long as you're on the 4G/LTE network, you can talk and use data at the same time. iPhones have the CDMA and the 4G/LTE on the same chip and only one can be used at a time. Verizon is transitioning to Voice Over LTE (VoLTE) but, right now, it's not everywhere, only the iPhone 6 and 6+ currently support it and, as Tim mentioned, it's not quite there yet.

  • Turning off screensaver/keeping screen on while using GPS (TeleNav)

    Hi all,
I'm trying to use TeleVan on my Curve 8900. After 2 minutes the screen turns itself off though and needs to be woken up again. Is there any way of stopping this from happening, i.e. of changing a setting either within the BB software or TeleNav? Within the BB software I've tried Options > Screen/Keyboard > Backlight Timeout but the longest duration there is 2 minutes; I'd like to keep the backlight on permanently when using TeleNav. I've checked within TeleNav but can't find a setting that would override the BB one. Any pointers?
    Thanks

I can't see a way. I don't know that you want to. When its time for a new direction, it will light up again. Running that way to will drain your battery although, actually, I find that telenav is a heavy battery user and put it on the car charger when I use it.

  • Nokia N96 restarts while using Gps, Google Maps an...

Hi guys, I've got this problem with my n96. When I try to use Nokia maps or Google maps, it restarts automatically. Last month I updated the firmware to 30.033. It was working fine before update, I had no problem with nokia and google maps, but after that update to firmware it randomly restarts. Any help would be highly appreciated.

The problem of phones restarting following a firmware update can usually be resolved by resetting the phone.
Always remember to backup your phone before performing resets as your data may be lost.
    First try  this,
    *#7370# - Reformat your phone
If it doesn't work then try this.
Then try the "3 finger deep reset". With the phone powered off, depress and hold these three keys simultaneously "*" "3" "green phone" and then power on phone using the on/off button whilst keeping all four keys depressed until you hear start-up tone.
This should ONLY be done if the device doesn't power up normally anymore and it wipes everything in the Phone memory that is not part of the ROM.

  • [E71] answering calls while using OVI maps navigat...

    Dear all,
is there a way to answer incoming calls and putting them on loudspeaker easily while using the Navigation? The idea is to use the phone as handsfree as possible while driving.

    Hi,
I think I may have a solution for you. 1. install JbakTaskman. I have it set up In such a way (there are not too many set up options) that it should work like this: You are on maps and a call comes In - answer the call, long press home button to get to the taskman - short home bottom press to get to main home screen and then you should see your call and then can hit the loudspeaker. You may not be able to see your call In the home screen because the voice nav set up does not allow you to have anything on a loudspeaker.
Regardless, when you long press home button to get to the running task menu, you should be able to see your call as one of your running apps and you can then open it up and see if the loudspeaker option is available to you. In fact, you should be able to see this just long pressing the home button for the native task bar app.
hope these ideas help a little. Please let us know how it turns out.
