  • Due to the rumored heat problems with the iPad 3, is there a danger in using a leather case design for it.

I recently purchased a 64 GB Verizon LTE iPad,  along with a Bear Motion leather case designed specifically for that model. I've been reading a lot about the heat problems with the new iPad and although I haven't noticed them on mine, I'm worried that putting it in the case may cause worse problems. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Unless you have a defective iPad you should be fine.  The only time it should be heating up is when you're running an intensive app like a game that's working the quad-core processor and the screen.  I bought a Targus leather case for mine and play InfinityBlade2 on it and haven't noticed any heating issues with mine, but the part holding the iPad is plastic, so it can disipate heat better.
If your iPad gets too hot it'll warn you, so I'd use it for now and see what happens.  It'll shut down before it causes any permanent damage.

  • Problem with G500s Touch Screen

I'm experiencing a problem with my G500s Touch, i am not touching the screen but it makes a lot of random inputs and appears contextual menu (like right click). It's really annoying, one of these days i'm going to throw this laptop through my apartment's window.
I already opened device manager and deleted all HID interfaces and reinstalled. Reinstalled Elan Drivers (i think maybe it is the problem, elan driver), i used windows restore 3 times and i still have the problem.
A Quick solution for this: Ctrl + Alt + Del, then Escape. And you will not have this problem in the next 1, 3, 5 or 10 minutes.
Please, if you have solution for this problem.
    Regards.

    hi sishio,
From your observation, it looks like the Touchscreen is malfunctioning.
    Can you try the following
    1. Under the Device Manager > Human Interface Devices, can you do a right click and disable on anything that says HID-compliant device (this is the driver that controls the touchscreen).
    2. When finished, reboot the system and observe if you still get the same issue.
If the problem gets fixed, you may need to contact lenovo and report your findings as you may need to send the unit for service.

  • Heating problem with HP TouchSmart 600-1050sc

    Hi There..
Got this recurring problem on my HP TouchSmart 600-1050sc. (No changes made to org. config)
Every time i open more then 2 browser windows, or set up more than one game client, the cooling fan goes into a frenzy. ;o(
On my old stationary computer, I would rip the computer apart, and clean all cooling modules with cuetips and a small wacuumcleaner to bring down overheating, but on this mashine it's not the obvious task. (Well seems like it would be a humongous job)
Anyone have experienced same problems, and have a clever solution ?
    Kind regards,  Agger

I see that you are concerned over the heat coming off your Envy. 60 degrees isn't overly hot for a CPU but here is an HP support document on Reducing Heat Inside the PC to Prevent Overheating. It will show you how to clean out the inside of your notebook.

  • Heating problems with U160

    Hi all,
I just got  a Ideapad U160 and it arrived yesterday. I liked all the features and looks but the system is getting hot pretty fast. The left side vent started blowing hot air within 10 mins of it being on. The entire left side gets hot which does not allow me to put it on my lap. I was using it for regular browsing with balanced power setting on.
Is this normal for this model? I hope it is not as I think this could be the best light/small/reasonably high performance laptop running windows.
To test it, I just left it idle for 5 mins after turning it on, but the problem is the same.
My configuration: Core i5 - 470m running Win 7 home premium
    Please post your experiences/advise.
    Thank you.

according to this thread, maximum temperature is 67 degrees celsius at the processor.

  • Heating Problem with K8N?

    Hi first time post here!
I'm planning on purchasing the K8N for the Athlon 3000+.  However, looking at the "Post High CPU Temperature" thread, I was a bit concerned of the temperatures.
    1)  Are the temperatures listed on that thread typical or isolated cases?
    2)  What are ideal CPU temperatures?

hi spaz (from ocforums) and philly
i hope i can answer your questions fully...
the k8n neo platinum is misreading high temps for newcastle cpus.  the readings are thought to be as much as 20°C too high.  lots of people are running at "60-70" under load, but NO one is reporting problems from high temps.. this apparently is very common in newly released motherboards..
everyone gets around 45°C for the "sys temp" in MSI's corecenter utility.  personally, i don't anything drastic is going on here... maybe it's misreadings, maybe it's a natural temp for this mobo, maybe a BIOS version will bring down the number... i'm just going to trust MSI's decision to release this board and say that there's nothing to worry about with the sys temp readings.

  • Heat problem with Windows 7 64 bit

Hi, does anyone face the same problem as me?
Whenever I run my Macbook in Windows 7 (64-bit), it becomes very warm (warmer as compared to Snow Leopard!).. the fan doesn't seem to work at the right speed to cool down the system...
Is there any software that I can install in Windows 7 to control the fan speed?
    Thanks a lot!

I have the same problem, the fans don't as fast. I use SMC fan control on Snow Leopard (http://www.eidac.de/?p=134). I have a setting that I created for windows that runs the fans at their max, which is about 6000 rpm. When you set it to something like that and restart it will keep those fan settings going when you start Windows. It keeps it MUCH cooler.

  • Heat problem with multiple display (retina Macbook)

    Hello.
I'm using retina Macbook pro 15".
It is totally fine when i'm using macbook by itself.
However, the temperature and fan speed increase whenever I plug in displays.
If I use just one display, the change is not noticeable, but if i plug another display, GPU die temperature goes up to 75 degree C and fan speed become 3000rpm (from istat dashboard).
If I use 3 displays (one thunderbolt, one hdmi and one with hdmi to mini dp), fan runs around 4000rpm which is quite annoying.
Of course, above testings are all done in idle state.
Is it normal or need to be fixed?

this is normal. When connecting more monitors, the GPU has to render more pixels, thus making it work harder, driving up the temps and triggering the fans to blow more air.

  • Heating problem from camera side

as i remember i used to play games for at least 2hours continuously and there was no heating problem with my Lumia 720.but now i am getting some issues with that. Only after 5min of normal usage it is starting radiating heat which i can feel . What is causing it to get hot only after few min of usage.

hmm. any device gets warm when you are playing games as it is stressing the processor and requiring more power usage. the amount of heat and power needed and created I have found to differentiate based on if GPS/data/camera are used a lot, where as others that are just resident on the device without connection don't seem to get as hot.

  • Does NVidia GeForce 8800GT have a heat problem?

I have an older heavy-duty Mac Pro running with 8-core Intel 3.2Ghz Xeon processors and 18GBytes RAM, using an NVidia GeForce 8800GT display controller driving a 30' Apple Cinema display. After the Mac Pro has been on for half a day the white semitranslucent bars start to appear and gradually the screen goes to nearly all white if I leave it on long enough. In about an hour after I turn it off, the display is fine.
What component is the likely cause of this behavior? I do not hear any fan noise. Should I?
I have seen other reports of heat problems with temperatures and fan speeds mentioned. How do I find this out for the Mac Pro? MacOS verion is 10.6.3.

Less than 80ºC (load) is desired, but up to 85ºC may be seen. A good cooler would keep the processor down in the mid 60's to mid 70's under load.
Prolonged temps at and above the mid 90's will reduce component life.
Certainly temps over 100ºC would be terminal in the long run.
One would hope to see the card run between 50ºC at idle and no higher than the mid 80's under load.
Lower load temps (mid 70's) are better.......
The 8800 GT is getting old. Any card approaching or exceeding 5 years of use should have the thermal compound replaced.
All fan equipped graphics cards need to be kept clean and dust free. A dust clogged heat exchanger is almost as bad as no cooler at all.

  • Is anyone having problems with the battery heating up and draining the power?  Mine has been doing this for about 2 months now.

Is anyone having problems with the battery heating up and draining the power?  Mine has been doing this for about 2 months now.

This is a major problem with Lollipop, but yo said it started 2 months ago.   Several people have fixed problem by removing FaceBook And Face book messenger and then re loading the apps again.   You might want to clear your cache before reloading.  Not sure this is your problem, but worth a try.  Good Luck

  • I'm wondering if anyone else has had problems with their imac fans being extremely loud when running at slow speeds?  When the computer heats up enough for the fans to run at higher speeds they quiet down. New HD fan was just installed.

I have an imac that I've had for a couple years.  The fans have always been loud when running at the slower speeds.  When the computer heats up enough for the fans to run at a higher speed the fans quiet down.  I had installed SMC fan control after multiple attempts with Apple to get the fan issue resolved.  That seemed to keep the fans quiet enough.  I've never had a problem with overheating.  Recently the fans were becoming loud again even running at the slightly higher speeds so I took it to my local Apple store and they replaced the hard drive fan.  I got it back and it's now as loud or louder than ever!!  And, now SMC fan control won't "stick."  The fans will speed up, but then gradually go back to the lower "loud" levels.  I'm at a loss as to what to do next.

    Thanks jared,
I'm still dealing with this issue through Apple. Some time after I posted this, I contacted Apple again. They did start a case up for me, as I was experiencing the same behavior on two different machines, with two different versions of Windows.
So far it remains unsolved. I've logged iClouds for Windows on my desktop, which is brand new, then logged for awhile after completely uninstalling Norton Security Suite, depending on the Microsoft security for some time, and finally logged after I uninstalled iCloud for Windows, restarted, installed a clean download, and connected using a completely different test account, which Apple set up for me. None of this made any difference. Looking at the logs, it seems every 10 minutes, iCloudServices.exe creates a new TCP connection to confirm I'm using less than 5GB on iCloud, (which I am by a good margin, using less than 2GB), it seems this connection is not closed, and when the next iteration rolls around 10 minutes later, a new TCP connection is created. I come very close to having 6 TCP connections created per hour, until I restart my computer. This works out to... 6 x 24 = 144/day.
Perhaps the article you posted will shed some further light on this. I'm thinking seeing the state of the connection through netstats, at the least, could help.
For the last week, I've been putting a hold on further logging, as Apple wants me to create a new user account on one of my computers, install iCloud for Windows there, and log it running in the other account. This however basically means I cannot use my computer for a fair number of hours, and I've been busy enough with work the past week that I haven't the time or energy to afford to set this up and run it. I've had need of my computers too much for the past week.

  • I have an iPhone 4 that is not holding charge and heating up.  I've been told it is a problem with the processor.

I have an iphone 4 that is not holding charge and is heating up excessively.  I've been told that the iphone 4 is having problems with the processor and that it will soon die and there is no way to repair it.  I got my phone in CR through Kolbi / ICE which guarantees it only for a year.  I would like to know what Apple would like me to do.  i have not taken it in for rapair or anything in hopes that they will acknowledge that the phone is only a year old and would support it.
    Appreciate your help,
    Belkis Young

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the issue persists, take the device to Apple or the Apple Authorized Service Center in the country where the device was originally sold.  The warranty is not International.
All iPhones come with a one year warranty when sold as new.
