    Hi gurus,
So we are facing smq2 issues from last 15 days in Ecc system due to some Time Limit Exceed and some times Object is Locked by the user xxxx
So finally we decided to go for creating seconday indexes in Ecc side , So here my question is there any thing required from Pi side while creating
Secondary indexes why i am asking this question is there is no issues From PI end after reaching to target(ECC) system only messages got stucking
in smq2 and facing issues .Below is the interface details.

  • CO table growth rate

    Hi,
We have gone line with SAP ECC for retail scenario recently. Our database is growing 3 GB per day which includes both data and index growth.
    Modules configured:
SD (Retail), MM, HR and FI/CO.
COPA is configured for reporting purpose to find article wise sales details per day and COPA summarization has not been done.
Total sales order created per day on an average: 4000
Total line items of sales order on an average per day: 25000
Total purchase order created per day on an avearage: 1000
Please suggest whether database growth of 3 GB per day is normal for our scenario or should we do something to restrict the database growth.

    Dear all,
    Oracle 9.2 on AIX 5.3
In one of our database, one table has a very fast growth rate.
How can I check if the table growth is normal or not.
    Please advice
The question is, what is a "very fast growth rate"?
What are the DDL of the table resp. the data types that the table uses?
One potential issue could be the way the table is populated: If you constantly insert into the table using a direct-path insert (APPEND hint) and subsequently delete rows then your table will grow faster than required because the deleted rows won't be reused by the direct-path insert because it always writes above the current high-water mark of your table.
May be you want to check your application for such an case if you think that the table grows faster than the actual amount of data it contains.
You could use the ANALYZE command to get information about empty blocks and average free space in the blocks or use the procedures provided by DBMS_SPACE package to find out more about the current usage of your segment.

  • Messages getting scheduled in SAP ECC Box:Messages getting stuck in Inbound

    The scenario is -
JDBC Sender-->> SAP PI-->> ECC Server(via ABAP proxy)
The Interface is running properly in SAP PI & then the messages are getting posted to the Inbound queues in SAP ECC Box. Generally it takes few seconds for the messages to get processed, but now all are getting scheduled in the Inbound queues(in different channels as seen in SMQ2)
We re-ran the interfaces again a few times, but all of them kept getting scheduled. Finally, after 2 hours one of the messages got processed. I suppose we won't face any problem now onwards.
Though I can see several suggestions like registering the queues & assigning dedicated queues to the interface, none of the blog suggest the probable cause of the event?
Can this be due to some issue in the server(heavy pressure of data in the server during the period/issue in the queues??)
I found the following links regarding issues like these --
XML file getting stucked in queue in ECC
    Message in scheduled state
    Thanks

Is the printing issue with one specific printer or across system.
What method you have configured for output device.
There should be any issue if you add spool work process to Application server.
Then you should be able to configure spool server load balancing. (Search on help.sap.com for spool load balancing)

  • Application Server Memory Requirements from 4.6C to ECC 6.0

The projected physical memory increase for the Application servers from 46C to ECC6 appears to between 45% - 66%.  This is based on the delta notes 517085, 752532, 778774 and 901070.  It also appears from a presentation from Christian Oehler called "Transition and Upgrade to SAP ERP" to be the case.
I cannot find anything in the above referenced SAP notes that indicates where this additional memory is consumed, so I'm concerned SAP is factoring in new functionality and/or JAVA stack in this.  Furthermore we have upgraded our HR system from 46C to ECC6 sometime ago and included JAVA and saw around a 20% memory increase.
We are doing a strictly technical upgrade and are not turning on new functionality at this point (no JAVA stack), we are also not increasing user population.  Our Test Systems, which have production data volumes do not reflect any growth in this area,  but we are not stressing it with user load.
Does anyone have an idea of what we could/should see given the nature of our upgrade?  We are preparing for a 25% increase in App server memory, but not for 50% plus.  We are not doing a sizing exercise since this is just a technical upgrade and the GLFU service has yet to start.
If anyone has any insight into what should be expected or what they have seen for memory requirements from 4.6C to ECC 6.0 Application Server sit would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Mark,
More memory is required because ECC 6.0 is much more huge system than 4.6C. If you are planning to increase server memory by 25% only, than you can see performance problems if system will be heavyly used. But it depends mainly on number of WP and active users. 25-50% more memory is required if you are not installing J2EE addin afterwards. If you are planning to convert the database to Unicode, than you will need an additional memory....
It's not easy to say 25% will be enought or 50% is required, but I would suggest to go to 50% at least.

  • DB02 in ECC 5.0

    Hi all,
We are using NT server, can anyone tell to check the <b>table space in DB02</b> and growth of the <b>table space in ECC 5.0</b> server. Its different screen compared to R/3 4.7.

    HI
You can still us DB02 to get this information. Under the Database system
box, select space statistics and once on that screen, click months. This
will show you how large your database is (tablespace) and how much free
spaces remains. It also shows you the actual usage for tables and
indexes. If your trying to automate this reporting, the data is contained in SAP
    table MONI.
Go through below link u can get brtools information with screen shots  and db02,db13 information.

  • 4.0 to ECC 6 Cross Platform

    Hi Gurus,
    I'll be performing a Heterogenous Copy (from 4.0 Oracle 8/ Sun -
    > Win2003/SQL) and then will upgrade in to ECC 6.Since this will be a very heavy task for me, really appreciated it if someone who has experience can share with me in this cross platform environment. My Question :
    1) Which is the best method to perform Hetero Copy:
    a. Make the target system the same level (4.0) as the source system and then upgrade to 4.6D ext or
    b. Upgrade the SAP on the source system (4.0 to 4.6D ext) and then do R3Load?
    2) Which one is the best pre-upgrade before upgrading to ECC 6.0?
    a. Upgrade to 4.6D ext or 4.7?
    b. on the target system SQL 2000 SP4 or SQL 2005 SP2 (Still not confident with the SQL 2005 yet - too many issues )
    c. On oracle level, theres no need to upgrade from 8  to 9.2 is it?
Is there any sapnotes/forum that I can refer too?
    TQ

    > I'll be performing a Heterogenous Copy (from 4.0 Oracle 8/ Sun -

First advise: if this is a production system you will need to have certified migration consultant on-site - otherwise you will loose support for the target system and for all problems arising from that migration.
    > 1) Which is the best method to perform Hetero Copy:

Since the kernel for 4.0 is LONG out of maintenance I suggest you upgraded to the latest available 46D_EXT kernel and do the R3load export with that one. This will make sure you will have the most recent kernel avoiding problems resulting out of an unpatched R3load.
    > 2) Which one is the best pre-upgrade before upgrading to ECC 6.0?
    >
    > a. Upgrade to 4.6D ext or 4.7?
You can upgrade straight away from 4.0 to ECC 6.0 (now called ERP 6.0).
    > b. on the target system SQL 2000 SP4 or SQL 2005 SP2 (Still not confident with the SQL 2005 yet - too many issues )
I would go for SQL 2005.
    > c. On oracle level, theres no need to upgrade from 8  to 9.2 is it?
If you upgrade to ERP 6.0 you will NEED to upgrade to Oracle 10g before you can start the upgrade.

  • ECC 6.0 Upgrade database size

    Hello,
We are planing to upgrade from 4.7E to ECC 6.0. Our current database size is around 1.5 TB. What is the size of database growth after upgrade? How much diskspace we must reserve for upgrade?
    I appreciate your help
    Thanks,
    Kris

    > We are planing to upgrade from 4.7E to ECC 6.0. Our current database size is around 1.5 TB. What is the size of database growth after upgrade? How much diskspace we must reserve for upgrade?
In my case my Non-unicode DB size is 680GB and after upgrade to Non-unicode ECC 6.0 my DB growth Hardly 20GB.
So its not 3 times of your DB size.
In  case of Conversion from non-Unicode to unicode 4.7 db growth near to 30-40GB and upgrade from Unicode 4.7 to Unicode ECC 6.0 another 30 to 40 GB.
Note : this is with DB SQL server 2005 on Windows 2003 EE.

  • ECC 5.0 to ECC 6.0 upgrade

    Hi Experts,
We are planning to do an upgrade from ECC5.0 to ECC 6.0. We have other SAP components like APO, BW 3.0 system also in the landscape. My question is- Do we need to upgrade other SAP components as well if we decide to upgrade ECC? If yes, to which version and why and if no, what changes do we need to do in other SAP components in the landscape?

Here are a few things that would help you:
The upgrade guide on OSS will have this information in the first few chapters.
Please have a look at a few points of concern that we faced while doing such an upgrade
    1. The Cost of Logging
Some of you may already know that you can't turn off transaction logging in db2 for z/os. Turning off transaction logging is an important part of the ECC upgrade process, and for good reason, since the upgrade process eats up a huge number of logs, and you seldom need to perform any kind of point in time recovery since the upgrade program can rerun each step.
In the SAP SERVICE MARKETPLACE you can find some information on the upgrade procedure's requirements from the various servers and databases. Note 815203 will even tell you how much free space you require. But I haven't found an official document that addresses the logins issue, so I guess there isn't one. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that my recent experience shows that upgrade from ECC5 to ECC6 generates around 500MB of transaction log data, and if you use dual logging it will add up to 1TB of data, so be prepared.
    2. Profile Parameter Issues
    a. Save your old instance and default profiles before the upgrade.
    b. Save your old instance and default profiles before the upgrade.
    c. Save your old instance and default profiles before the upgrade.
    d. Save your old instance and default profiles before the upgrade.
    e. Review the new profiles, make sure you haven't lost important non-standard parameters, also note that some of the memory related parameters have changed, they are given default values , and this is probably not optimal for your system.
    f. Review the shadow instance profile before the upgrade. At the very least consider adding the following parameters to it :
    dbs/db2/use_wlm=1
    dbs/db2/use_accounting = 1
    3. Performance Tips
    a. Change the wlm settings so that the sapgen and sapbatch enclaves get high priority. Usually, the sapgen and or sapbatch enclaves are given lower priority then the sapdiag and or sapupdate, keep in mind that the upgrade does most of the work using R3trans/R3load process which create sapgen enclaves.
    b. Keep reviewing the sql statment cache throughout the upgrade process, you may find heavy sql statments. Personally, I haven't found any, but that doesn't mean you won't.
    4. Misc Errors
    a. The prepare may fail with an error about tables that have CHAR columns (as opposed to VARCHAR columns). In my systems the all the tables where named DSN.... they all belonged to IBM'S "VISUAL EXPLAIN" AND "OPTIMIZATION SERVICES CENTER", so I just dropped the tables and all was well.
    b. Error - pe0353 "outstanding db conversions found" (in phase cnv_chk_imp). You will find a list of the tables/objects in the put/log directory. You should be able to use transaction se14 to display each table and "manually" complete the failed conversion. If you see QCM tables in the list, those are temp tables used during incremental conversion, you can generate a list of them (and then drop them) in transaction se14 -> menu "extras" -> invalid tmp objects
    c. Recreating the abap "WHERE USED LIST". In the upgrade master guide you are told to recreate the abap "where used list" in your dev systems by running report SAPRSEUB (note 28022) during the post upgrade activities. Since I am a good sysadmin, and I do what I am told ( i.e. i ran the report SAPRSEUB), I came across the following error after a few hours - I saw that job EU_INIT was also running for several hours, it too runs report SAPRSEUB. So I had two very intensive jobs running in parallel and doing the same thing.
If I am not mistaken job EU_INIT is executed when a developer enters transaction se38, so I recommend you either: a) wait until your execution of report SAPRSEUB ends before you open the system for your users; or b) you don't run the report manually, let it be "automatically" scheduled by a developer (only one EU_INIT job can run at any one time) or manually run report SAPRSEUB under jobname EU_INIT.
    5. DB2 for Z/OS DBA Cockpit Warning
The new version of CCMS for db2 on z/os called db2 dba cockpit is delivered with sap_basis 700 sp12. In practice, if you upgrade to this sp level, you will be forced to import several notes in order for the ccms to work at all. These notes contain dozens of fixes if not the entire ccms for db2 code. Moreover, I have found some missing functionality in the dba cockpit the existed in the previous versions of the db2 for z/os ccms I have opened an oss on this issue, and i think it will be fixed in the very near future. So please keep all of this in mind when you plan your upgrade.
    I hope this is sufficient

    Hello
I am on ECC 5.0 with oracle 9.2.0.7.I need to upgrade this to ECC 6.0.
I have already implemented MM,PP,FICO,QM and HCM.My current data base size is 900GB.This has 30GB monthly growth.
With this ECC 6.0 upgrade i am planing to implement PM,EP.
I know converting none Unicode system to unicode system is required some more hardware resources than the none Unicode.
Some document says 40-60% more disk space and 35% more processing speed from current system.
Can any one give me the correct information about the hardware requirement for ECC 5.0 to ECC 6.0 upgrade.

  • One SAP BI 7 system pulling data from 2 ECC 6 systems

    Hello experts,
has any one gone through the scenario of extracting data from 2 SAP ECC 6 systems in to one BI 7 system? If so, What were the challenges from the view of configuration, performance and security? I appreciate your feed back.

Configuration, Peformance and security wouldnot be a issue, the only issue was cleansing the data from two system.
We actually went with compounding all the objects with source system tag, which involved heavy manual activity. But before going to this, you can check out if there is master data overlap for the two systems if not then you can do away without compounding.

  • Database history growth not updating after EHP upgrade

    Hi All,
We are using SAP ECC 6.0 (731 - SP09 )  & DB2 Fix pack 5 version.Database history growth not updating after EHP upgrade. I have check  collector job running fin and DB tab > Configuration > Data Collection Framework > Configuration Collector are in green status.
Please help me to resolve this issue.
    Regards,
    MK

    Hi MK,
    You can try few things:
    1. Check to collector standard job like SAP_COLLECTOR_FOR_PERFMONITOR should be running succesfully.
2.If you can check to data collector collection interval column , you will find it to be Not Schedule.
    Try with Repair all collector.
To make it work properly you have to perform
    Data Collection Full
    Data Collection Incremental
    Hope it helps

  • STORAGE SIZING - running R/3 ECC 9 yrs - how to estimate NW2004s 7.0 need

Does anyone have some metrics they use when determining storage requirements if one were to plan on installing almost all of the NW2004s product suite.
    Example ---
    <u>BACKGROUND DATA</u>
    We've been running ECC 5.0 (previously 3.1H, 4.6C) for 9 years.
Total "PRD" storage usage for ECC = 1.5tb
Total storage available in our environment = 8.6tb
We traditionally have an additional 2 full copies of PRD data for QA/TST etc.
% of PRD storage use against total available = 17.4% (1.5tb/8.6tb)
Our ECC 5.0 grows approximately 350gb per year (with archiving active)
    <u>FUTURE STATE</u>
We plan to implemnt BI, CRM, SCM, SRM, MDM, KM, XI, APO
Need to plan out 3 yrs storage requirements for these additional components.
Yes, we realize "IT DEPENDS" but need to make some assumptions and put a stake in the ground.
Does anyone have some storage metics where
    CRM storage = x% of R/3 storage
    BI storage = x% of R/3 storage
    SCM = x% of R/3 storage
    SRM = x% of R/3 storage
    etc.
    Any feedback is greatly appreciated......
    Regards

    Hello Doreen!
    Yes, it DOES depend...
CRM etc.: No idea. We dont have them.
BI 7.0 starts with some 30 GB (new system) and grows into infinity, depending on the creativity and detail requirements of your BI people. Can be much larger than production ERP data, we hear. My tipp: Always keep HUGE room to grow for the BI database, the increments are not by hundreds of MB, but by dozens of GB, if you are lucky... And our guy did never tell when they began to load a new cube...
Buying storage for 3 years seems a bit long for me, as disk sizes double so often... Our collegues are now migrating out the 36 GB drives they put in in 2002, and 72 GB are the next ones to go. And the 600's are ante portas...
What storage system do you have?
Server sizing: Dont ask me. We alwas had luck to take it one size larger than "they" sized. But that depends on your workload growth rates.
    HTH, Rudi
