HEEEEEEELPPPP Cant get my Ipod to link to Itunes!!!

New 30gb 5G IPOD
It doesn't show up in Itunes or when I look in the itunes prefs under IPOD. I've also tried the 5 R's what Apple suggest in their support thing but still no joy... HELP!
G5 MAC Sys 10.3.9
Quicktime 7.0.3
It does charge the IPOD in the USB though... any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steve,
Have you ruled out faulty hardware on your computer?
Maybe a bad USB port or hub?
Your system seems to meet the minimum software requirements;
Mac System Requirements
     • Built-in USB port (USB 2.0 recommended)
     • Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later
     • iTunes 6 (included) or later

Thank you for the question.  Try the steps in the article below to troubleshoot your iPod touch not being recognized in iTunes.  I would recommend seeing the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.

i forget the security questions answers and i cant get email of resetting link to my email

If the email hasn't arrived after a few hours and isn't in a spam filter, you need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

    - Try resetting the iPOd.  Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next, connect to yor computer and go to iTunes>The Summary pane for the iPod>Configure Universal Acess and see if an accessibility feature is turn
d on.  Turn off and then try
    - Restore the iPod from backup
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • How can I get my ipod to work with itunes?

When I connect my ipod classic into my new computer it seems that itunes does not recognize it. How can I get my ipod to work with itunes? I'm afraid to disconnect my ipod because the display is saying Do Not Disconnect.

    1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
4 Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
    6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job
    7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

    Hello megansmummy,
I would be concerned too if my iPod wasn't able to complete the syncing processes. I recommend following the steps in this tutorial to address and issue like this:

  • Still cant get my ipod to work...

    My earlier post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=971361
I still cannot get it to work, I have tried everything. I have reset and restored my ipod multiple times. Thinking about sending it back soon. I get that same error every time I try and put music on my ipod, sometimes it works...and sometimes it wont. Sometimes I cant get a certain song to go on, and then another time it will.
All my music was on my computer before I had my ipod. It was all either from cds or downloaded. A friend has also sent me tons of music that works on his ipod fine.
I have always used Winamp to listen to my music, and still do. Could that have anything to do with it? Or made it another format?
Very annoying, anyone have any clues?
      Windows XP Pro

Did you read the link that StarDeb55 provided? It sounds like a local disk problem. Can the Windows Defrag utility run with out errors? Is your music library shared? i.e. Do multiple applications use the files. Like say Windows Media Player and iTunes. If so the other program(s) may be locking the file(s) preventing iTunes from coping it.
P.S. If you are new to forums creating duplicate threads is generally considered a no-no and makes it less likely that people will respond to your post.
