Everything is wrong with this ipod

i bought this ipod and its driving me crazy. i bought it on ebay and its a 4th gen. i thought i could fix it, but that was apparently a mistake lol.
first off, it doesn't turn on without being connected to PC.
then it gives me a battery with an exclamation point for a while.
after a few minutes, it gives me the apple logo, then gives me a folder with an exclamation point. then goes back to the apple logo. and just repeats like that
randomly, it says "do not disconnect"...and goes back to the apple/folder situation
while all that is going on, in the corner of my screen it gives me the "new hardware found" thing. then it says my new hardware is corrupted or something.
HEEELP MEEEE is it hard drive? battery? both?

I just went to the Apple Store to inquire about my iPod's problem and how to fix it. I mentioned the fact that I couldn't restore it since no computer would recognize it and that it was making a clicking noise. When the person I spoke to heard this (actually listening to my iPod) he told me that my hard drive was fried. I asked him about my options in terms of correcting the problem and he told me that I could try to sell it on ebay (even though nobody wants a broken iPod) or I could give it back to Apple and receive a 10% discount on a new iPod. I asked him about replacing the hardrive but he said I'd be better off just buying a new iPod (especially since my iPod is so old...3rd generation scroll wheel with dock). I feel that I shouldn't have to replace my iPod JUST because I connected it to PC and the hard drive failed as a result. I still want to get a second opinion, just in case, although I've been hearing much of the same thing online.

My pages are not working on Mountain Lion. I reinstalled iWork from the CD updated it to 9.3 restarted computer and it still doesn't work. What else I can do? Heeelp!

The Pages stop working on my computer when I upgraded OS to Mountain Lion. I reinstalled iWork from CD and updated to 9.3 version from Apple store. I also restarted computer before opening the iWork. It still doesn't work. It keeps giving me the error page. The same thing with Numbers. Only Keynotes opens. What else can I do? Heeelp please!

We are not omniscient. Use screencapture on the error page. Shift + Command + 4 … then drag the cross-hairs around the error, and release. The Screen Shot will be written to your Desktop. Use the camera icon in this editor’s tool bar to embed that Screen Shot of your error in a follow-up post here.
Did you move the Pages and Numbers applications out of /Application/iWork ’09 folder, where they are expected to reside? Did you run /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app, and on your boot drive, verify/repair permissions?

OK, Open the access pages in the 510 by typing 10.0.0.138 into a web browser.
The default setting is for no password and no User name. So it should take you to the menu screen.
The colours should be Blue and red in later versions of the firmware and there should be tabs.
Click on System on the far right.
You should now be able to read the Firmware Version (Software) 4.2.5.0.0 and above has the UpNP setting. It is the Advanced > NAPT menu option then the far right tab.
Select Full.
This will have the ports open only when the application requests them to be in use. It can be used with multiple computers.
You can see the UPnP tab in the second pic on this page http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/page4.html
This also shows you how to set up port 5060 on the NAPT entries tab. As you can see you need to point it to the computer (IP address: in this case 10.0.0.1) and enter the ports in both boxes for the single ports
However the TCP drop down just above the IP address should be UDP.
The ports are 5060, 5190, 5678, 16384-16403 for iChat (23 on UDP)
It also needs port 5190 on TCP (Now 24 entries)
Bonjour, if you have a second Mac, needs UDP 5297, 5298, 5353 and TCP 5298
Jabber needs TCP ports 5220, 5222, 5223
(the UPnP is quicker)

In the Desktop Manager > Sync > Configuration, make sure the calendar options are set to override Outlook.
Set it also to notify you of the changes, so you will have to approve any changes.

PSE 8 for MAC - heeelp !

Hi,
I've just gone over to a MAC and from version 7 to 8. I'm sure the solution to this is very simple, but I'm stumped.
I'm creating a photo book which is 14" by 11". I want to be able to put a graphic onto my new blank page and have it fill the page (background). In version 7, all I did was right click a graphic in the organizer and was given the option to "add as background". Can't believe I have to "stretch" photos to make them fit .......

I uninstalled PSE and reinstalled as admin. Same result. My iMac
has random memory of 4 GB and a hard drive of 1 TB.
After the reinstall, PSE opens and I click on new file. That menu appears on the screen and I click "ok". That's when the message comes up "Could not complete because of a problem using the Adobe Color Engine". I also tried opening a picture from my picture library (Aperature) and received a message that PSE could not complete the action. Could it be that PSE is not intended to work on a MAC?

Before spending money or considering an upgrade, try basic troubleshooting.
From the User's Guide, basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order.

Please help meeee!! Problems with library and syncing on new laptop

Hi I've bought a new laptop and want to start using itunes on the new one, however:
Problem 1- Even though I've enabled both devices and have clicked on the home sharing, only the songs I have purchased from itunes show in my library and playlists (I managed to import my playlist titles by copying the file and emailing it to myself but it won't show songs other than those purchased from itunes) How can I get the library to show the 500 odd songs I've painstakingly spent importing to itunes on my old, slow laptop? If I have to do them all again I may just have a breakdown!!!
Problem 2- Have imported a CD into itunes library using my new laptop but it won't show on my ipod after syncing it. I think I have enough space cos the bottom bar says 3.26 GB free!
I'm really not very techie and don't use itunes much so there may be something glaringly obvious that I'm doing wrong. If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it

Home Sharing doesn't really matter, if you plan to stop using the old computer for iTunes.

You should use the method titled External drive. If you use this method, you can ignore the rest of the document.
The details are in the document, but to summarize this process (so that you have the "big picture" before reading the details)...
You are copying your iTunes folder from the old laptop to the external drive, and then copying that iTunes folder from the external drive to the new laptop. When you copy the iTunes folder to the new laptop, you are replacing the existing iTunes folder. The next time you start up iTunes on the new laptop, it will use the iTunes folder from the old laptop, and it should look like iTunes running on the old laptop.
When you read through the document, it may be easier to understand if you keep my "overview" in mind. Please ask any questions you may have about the "details" in the document.
NOTE: If you have new songs on the new laptop that are not in your old laptop's iTunes library, you need to keep the existing iTunes folder on the new laptop. After you have successfully transfered your iTunes folder from the old laptop to the new laptop, and everything is OK when you run iTunes on the new laptop, THEN add the new songs. This is in the document.
You should put Problem 2 aside until the above is completed.

FaceTime works on iPhone but not macbook..? HEEELP.

Facetime makes/recieves calls as per usual with iphone, but Macbook pro is unsuccessful- says 'connecting' and rings without ever getting through/does not recieve incoming facetime from other devices.

Do you STILL have a BB data plan? Contact your wireless service provider and make sure all is still provisioned correctly. Also, your friends that you are trying to connect with must also have the proper plan.

Re "numbers".. if you mean phone numbers (contacts) select the Info tab from the menu. Select Sync Address Book Contacts then click Tthe Sync button bottom right corner of the iTunes window.

HEEELP - Not able to see components in canavas

I need HELP. I've been creating a complex file which was working very well untill yesterday.
Today, after loading the file, in design mode I can't see any component in canavas but in preview everyting is OK. I want to add more components and I can't (I do not see the new component in canavas nor in the already buided component list). I want co copy/paste the used components in a new XC file (which is loaded with same excel file) but I can't since in the new file the option list is gray (can't do paste or anything else).
So, I can't design (because I can't see the position of the components in the canavas), I can't copy my work (for which I've spent huge amount of time) in a new file and on top of this, I can't delete objects from the already created list.
I have Vista, enough memory, flash 10, XC2008 SP1FP3...and I've re-istalled all of them twice today but no luck.
I NEED TO FINISH THE PROJECT and I'm at my patiance limits because of this unbelivable un-stable sw which costed me a fortune (and can't offer you anything else but stress and lost time).
I thought that SAP is a serious company but now I have my doubts.

I've decided to spend one more night to re-create the file from an old backup. It was very painful. After the load/recreating the components, everything was OK but after saving under new name, the problem is back. I can see the component list on the left side but nothing in canavas.

What is the procedure to re-create Essbase.sec file in Essbase 11.1.2.0 environment.... In older versions it was used to delete Essbase.sec, start Essbase server and it was recreated an empty essbase.sec file.. But in 11.1.2.0 with Shared services...was is the procedure ? If it is deleted the essbase.sec file...starting Essbase Service will re-create and will update informantion from Shared Services ?

Ok...it solves the start of Essbase Server..
After that I'd like to re-create the applications... so.. I'll rename the folder of application, so it will be possible to re.create on disk and empty application with the same application/database name...
But what will happen with the information present in Shared Services?
If I'll try to recreate the application and if in Shared serveces registry i present the name of application what will happen ? Because after the start of Essbase Server it will be no correspondence between Essbase applications present in Shared services registry and Essbase applications present in Essbase.sec file....
any idea?
