IT'S TERRIBLE!!!
I swear UIs are like **bleep**in' fashion. Do y'all remember way back when in earlly days of computer/internets before Google? Where people thought that humongous flashy, obnoxious real-estate-eating designs were good ideas?
Remember the design revolution that emphasized simplicity and small real-estate that people loved?
Well it's freakin' come full cycle it feels like back to those terrible old days.
With the old design, I've always had a (livable) pet peeve that the user interface couldn't be shrunk down.
Now??? I have this terrible, unshrinkable, giant ass text in the similarity of phone-text chat bubbles.
I HATE THOSE.
If you only have one or two messages to catch up on, or if you have fat fingers on a tiny screen and absolutely need the giant bubbles to scroll and click with (eg smartphones) the design makes sense.
Putting the same design on a computer where you actually have a mouse?
Making it impossible to be able to scan 200+ messages in a single group chat a day (yes, I do have that many messages I scan daily as a heavy user of skype chat; this new interface is going to make it hell.)
So please please please let me know there's a way to change back without having to do technical (and slightly dangerous) things like use an old version and deny all updates...

On my machines GarageBand looks exactly the same in Lion and Snowleopard, nice pale blue backdrop in the welcome window.
Have you checked, if GarageBand shows the same problem in all accounts? Try to log in under a different user name, and if GarageBand looks o.k. from a different account, then probably the user preferences in your account are faulty. Quit GarageBand, if it is running, and drag the file:
/Users/your user name/Library/Preferences/com.apple.garageband.plist
from the user Library to the Desktop.
Then start GarageBand again and see, what happens.

Congratulations on your new laptop! Also, thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with transferring your iTunes Library to your new computer.
I notice that you are coming from the article “iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer,” and it sounds like you might have used the Home Sharing method outlined in that article.
With Home Sharing, you can stream content from another computer, and it sounds like that is how you have it currently set up. The last step is to import the content to your new computer. Use these steps on the new computer (while the old computer is on) to import the music to your new computer’s hard drive:
Once your new computer sees the Home Share from your old computer, click that Home Share on the left side of iTunes on your new computer.
Select the content in the Home Share that you want to transfer to your iTunes library on your new computer, or choose Edit > Select All to choose all of it. Then, click the Import button in the bottom-right corner of iTunes.
Wait for the content to finish transferring.
Additionally, if you want to transfer your playlists, you can export them from the old computer to the new computer:
Transferring playlists
If you want not only your content but also your playlists to exist on your new computer, you will want to transfer a copy of all your playlists from your old computer. To do this, choose File > Library > Export Library on your old computer. Save the XML file that is created to your desktop.
Send the playlists file to yourself as an e-mail attachment, use an external drive, or use file sharing to move the playlists file to your new computer. Once the file is on your new computer, open iTunes and choose File > Library > Import Playlist. The import process will remove any items from the playlists that you didn't share via Home Sharing.

I downloaded from Icloud my backup to new 5S. Everything worked fine.
However it shows I still have 394 unread messages. Which correct on this new 5S Iphone but they were all read on my old 4s.
How to I zero out the 394 and only start reading new messages on this new 5S.
Please do not tell i have to delete all 394 messages.
RichardThe process depends on who controls your email. If you have (username)@mac.com, (username)@me.com or (username)@icloud.com you've come to the correct place. For any other mail server, you need to contact their specific user support tools.

Pages to DocX Export Makes Everything Bold
I'm using Pages 5.1 to email out my resume, and everytime I export the document into .docx for submission it makes everything on my resume Bold in the .docx version. I've tried changing the .docx with Pages but when I go to save the changes it will only let me save a new version of the .pages file. If I try to use the .pages document to overwrite the existing .docx file the new file it creates makes everying bold again.
I'm astonished that there appears to be no way around this. The font I'm using is Arial and everything is in a very standard format.
Please tell me there is something I can do.That works, but there are jobs that specifically ask for certain formats, like docx.

Yes, my dri've is hooked up correctly.
Yes, the volume knob on the headphones are turned up.
Yes, I do have the latest drivers and software.
Running Windows 7 Home (64bit) and updated. ?All hardware is running latest drivers, software, and BIOS.
Now that that's out of the way, the headphone jack on the I/O dri've is causing problems. ?Audio comes out normally from the speakers. ?If I plug my the mic in to the mic jack on the I/O dri've, everything is fine. ?I can hear myself just fine through the normal speakers. ?Now if I connect to the headphone jack, everything goes mute. ?No sound from the headphones or speakers and the mic doesn't work. ?If I unplug the headphones, everything remains muted. ?Even after running diagnostics and restoring defaults, everything remains muted.
The funny thing is I can still plug into my case's headphone jack and music will play from it. ?Go figure.
The only solution thus far is a reboot. ?Unacceptable.
What's the problem and I how do I fix it'sB&Just realized that the Beta driver introduced a new problem. ?Although the inputs are now working, the sound is terrible. ?The volume keeps fluctuating rapidly (not the level that I can control). ?If you leave the volume at a set level, you can notice that it is behaving erradically.

I had renamed my user login name and assumed that there will be no change in the settings and files. When I login with the new profile name everything is gone. How can I get back all my files and settings? Please help. Thanks.

I have a new ipad and everything works but can't connect to the app store. Itunes works and the wifi seems to be working but i get a blank white screen when i open the appstore. Nothing will load unter the features or charts tab so i cant download any apps. Purchased and updates tab loads fine. Any suggestions?

So I updated to OS X Maverick(s) and backuped my harddrive and got a new one installed, everything seems okay but some things are missing in my settings like the software update icon. Does anyone know how I can get it back?
Okay so I asked someone from apple and they said that the software update icon is gone but its functions have been merged with the app store icon on the settings menu. Crisis averted haha!

i bought a new MacBookPro moved everything from old MacBookPro, new machine runs 10.6.7 - but iPhoto won't 'upgrade' the library - just hangs up supposedly while writing new library. help. thanks.
How did you "move everything" over?
Migration assistance does not handle the iPhoto library well sometimes - the best way is to drag the bad iphoto library from the pictures folder on the new system to the desktop, connect the two systems together (network, firewire target mode, etc) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old system to the pictures folder of the new system and launch iPhoto on the new system - it will open and convert the iPhoto library as necessary and you will be fine - once you test the iPhoto library you can delete the one on the desktop

New server make many broadcast traffic for NetBIOS wpad
From 1 month ago I finished transferred from old server 2003 to new server 2012 with new machine all role , DHCP and sharing file are transferred successfully and I use netdom computername to keep the name for the new server as a same name for the old server
and all thing in my network is good but I feel that there are some slow in the network and some router in my network frozen from time to time a need to restart
I use Wireshark to monitor my network and I found that my new server make many broadcast traffic for NetBIOS wpad , the server make more than 500 nbns broadcost per second .
