HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP! Emergency HELP!!!!!

Okay, one of my kids stuck a plastice NON-CD in my drive...you know...the one at the top of the spindle...So I carefully removed my keyboard...took out the drive and remove the CD.
Closed everything up, now my computer won't power up. I know I know...I'm a dork, but I'm also a broke dork and didn't have the funds to pay 100 clams to have it removed...should have...but didn't.
anyway...there is a thing hanging down from the keyboard...should that be connected to something? It didn't seem like it was when I took it off...but who knows...i'm definately not a tech guy ...all you tech gods out there...please help!
Does anyone know if there is an online video I can watch for keyboard removal/reconnection...I couldn't find one, but it might do the trick.
I've got film festival I have to get my stuff off to tomorrow.

In the future don't leave your computer near that kid. They may damage it further without meaning to. Kids who don't know that machines have fragile parts, or think that certain things work certain ways when they don't really can cause a lot of damage to computers.
I've read plenty of horror stories where Kool Aid has damaged a computer keyboard, and the infamous one where a tray loading optical drive was used as a cup holder, and worse, paper clips in the optical drive. For people who don't know how to use the computer, teach them first before they are allowed near it.

Need EMERGENCY Help... some photos are solid green

Been working on 8 different tribute videos all week... now exporting for showing at a banquet tonight and the problem is that some of the photos are appearing as green blocks. There is no consistency with file type, as some are jpegs and some are .psd. I have been doing these videos for 8 years and never had this probelm. I have tried exporting as MPEG-2, AVI and H.264. Same problem each time. Photos show up fine in PPro timeline. HELP!!!!

If the images 'Preview Render' fine in the timeline, and it's an emergency,
you could try exporting with 'Use Previews' checked.
You will likely take a degree of quality hit, but if it's an emergency.....

my laptop screen won't close. I can't fold my laptop. i have to let my laptop open for all time. it;s terrible. i can't even chat with one of the hp technician. it keeps giving me error. I'm stuck. I have no idea how to repair it.

half an hour later i found at the problem and fixed (temporarely) the problem.
one of the hinges is not working anymore, just like a car ball hinge.
to fix it:
1. unscrew the screen cover and then detach it from the screen (the screws are covered by some plastic or rubber protection)
2. unscrew the hinge and then pull it sideways until it breaks loose. I used some force, but tried to be careful. (picture 2 and three)
3. put the cover back on the screen.
4. either try to get a replacement hinge (the part number can be seen only partlally) or use the screen only with one hinge, which I did. When closing it or adjusting it, just be carefull to hold with the hand the side without a hinge. When fixed it stays there as before.

I have a 1.5GHZ Powerbook G4
I just installed virtual PC against my wishes and I installed Windows XP home - seems to be successful. But ..
I no longer have a windows laptop and I have installed a medical program with a treatment I must follow for 3 months 2 treatments a day. It works great on my PC but now I get an error window when I try to activate the program on my powerbook running the virtual pc with windows xp
The error message is in jibberish writing because the program was given to me in russian but all i can read is the word DIRECTX
I have installed 5 times directx9 yet i still keep reading same message
it is very interesting that when i right click on my computer it reads

256MB RAM
Where is that info coming from? How can WinXp read the hardware in my Tiger OSX powerbook???? It is not possible so if you look at the specs - no wonder everyone is complaining about VIRTUAL PC being so slow.
The program that I need for treatments is also a 3D program and as I said I have tried to install DIRECT X 9 from microsoft and still fails to work

Now I know why people complain that Virtual PC for Macs is slow and not worth it! But how can the specs appear as that when Windows cannot read what the Mac has as hardware.
I had changed the settings on Display properties from 16 bit to 32 bit - i will change back to 16 to see if my program will run
it is crucial to my trip and my treatments that i can solve this problem - i do not want to travel if it will stop me from focusing on my treatments each day on time

You can't run 3D software on Virtual PC, the emulated graphics card is not powerful enough.
The system specs you are reading are the emulated specifications of the virtual PC and are not your Mac specs.
Your only solution is to get a Windows laptop.

Emergency help needed re media manager

Hi all,
Hopefully somebody can help me with this.
I am due to start an audio mix on a project for a client tomorrow. He currently has the FCP project on his Mac Pro but due to recording to a tascam portable recorder on set all his audio files are called audio1, audio2 etc. He has a folders on his drive with each days recordings so there are many folders which all contain files called audio1 etc.
I asked him to put his picture lock sequence onto an external drive using media manager but it doesn't seem to able to handle the audio files since there are so many with the same name from different folders so the external now has only one file with each name where on the picture lock sequence there are many audio clips called audio1 for example.
I hope this makes sense.

If you have a media card in your BlackBerry then the easier way to transfer items to it is to just click on the My Computer icon and drag and drop them to the appropriate folder. Music to the \blackberry\music folder and so on. As for the problem with the Media manager, it should be remedied by installing the OS for your device to your computer.

Emergency help please, ESM WinRM broken, kerbauth missing

Hi all,
I've been working on an emergency situation this whole weekend and I'm losing my mind. Let me start off by saying I've tried EVERY suggested solution I can find (aka lots of things tried!!)
ESM and Exchange powershell won't run, standard WinRM issue.
I've narrowed it down to the kerbauth module in PowerShell virtual directory in IIS. Before it wasn't showing up as a module in that VD, and wasn't an option to add it. Now it's showing up, but it's blank. Please see the screenshot here: http://i54.tinypic.com/2qvd1tk.png
. The type is "managed module" not native module like it should be. My research shows that if it says managed module, then you need to disable it in Default Web Site. But that's the problem, it doesn't show up at all in Default Web Site.
Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this? Any suggestions will be considered (if I haven't tried it already of course!)

Yes. This is what I get when I run the tool again.
The Exchange Management Troubleshooter indentified a problem that can be caused by several issues:
1. If the WSMan module entry is missing from the global modules section of the
C:\Windows\System32\Inetsrv\config\ApplicationHost.config file, as follows:

<add name="WSMan" image="C:\Windows\system32\wsmsvc.dll" />
This will result in the WSMan module displaying as a Managed module on the PowerShell virtual directory.
To correct this, make sure that the WSMan module has been registered (but not enabled) at the Server level, and has been enabled on the PowerShell virtual directory. Confirm that the WSMan entry exists in the Global Section of the ApplicationHost.config
file as shown above.
WSMan exists in the config file and in the PowerShell VD as native mode, so not sure why it is giving this error.
2. Remote PowerShell uses Kerberos to authenticate the user connecting. IIS implements this Kerberos authentication method via a native module. In IIS Manager, if you go to the PowerShell Virtual Directory and then look at the Modules, you should see
Kerbauth listed as a Native Module, with the dll location pointing to \Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\v14\Bin\kerbauth.dll. If the Kerbauth module shows up as a Managed module instead of Native, or if the Kerbauth module has been loaded on the Default
Web Site level (instead of, or in addition to, the PowerShell virtual directory), you can experience this issue. To correct this, make sure that the Kerbauth module is not enabled on the Default Web Site, but is only enabled on the PowerShell virtual directory.
The entry type of "Local" indicates that the Kerbauth module was enabled directly on this level, and not inherited from a parent.
This is the problem as described in my original post. I've tried this, but kerbauth shows up blank in PowerShell VD, and doesn't show up at all at Default Web Site level.
3. The Path of the Powershell virtual directory has been modified. The PowerShell virtual directory must point to the
"\Exchange Server\v14\ClientAccess\PowerShell"
directory or you will encounter problems.
I checked this, and it definitely is pointing to the right directory, so once again not sure why it is throwing this error.

Need emergency help for simple actionscript commands.

I havent touched flash for awhile and am now using flash professional to try and create a simple visual prop.
I used to be able to have the movieclip stop on the first frame and then use the keyboard (anykey) to advance frame by frame in the timeline. Now I cant seem to do it and it just keeps playing through and loops in the publish preview.
As this is now actionscript 3, Im not familiar with how this is being controlled.
Help would be greatly appreciated as I have to get this out the door tomorrow.

Emergency- Help! OS 10.4 reinstall

I had a disk error and lost my system directory, I used Diskwarrior to rebuild my directory so I can at least see my HD again. My question is - when I restart from the OS disk the only options I have is to install as new or Wipe and install.
If I use install as new will that wipe any files that are on the HD besides the system?
There are very critical files the where not backed up due to sabotage. Can I save those files?

Emergency Help Switching Feed!

I have a podcast that has been hosted through MyPodcast.com. The service has been quite faulty and I have been trying to switch my podcast home from the current faulty website to Podbean.com.
I need to do so without losing any viewers... I have looked multiple times on iTunes and come up with a few problems.
On mypodcast.com, you fill out forms and they create the feed for you. iTunes asks that you change your feed to read 'new feed' or something like that. However, I do not have the capability to change what my feed reads.
If I insert my iTunes store ID into podbean, why will this not force iTunes to recognize that my particular feed is coming from elsewhere.
Mypodcast.com, although with faulty service, has always been able to send my info to iTunes. There have been no changes- does anyone know what this now means if you validate my feed?

The feed you link to validates at www.feedvalidator.org and seems OK.
As you say, in order to redirect iTunes to a new feed you need to insert the 'itunes:new-feed-url' tag with the new URL as described here. They also say 'You should set your web server to return an HTTP 301 response and redirect when receiving a request for the old feed', apparently this can also redirect iTunes.
However from what you say you are not able to do either of these things. Without that ability you will not be able to redirect your feed. Nothing you do at Podbean will have any effect as iTunes does not know this exists.
You could try contacting Support and asking if they can help:

however I don't hold out much hope that they will be any help.
The only other thing I can suggest is to make an announcement in the next episode giving the new URL and asking people to subscribe: obviously first you need to submit the Podbean feed - you will need to change the title slightly or you will be told that the podcast has already been submitted.

HT1766 emergency help needed to recover deleted contacts from Iphone

Here is the situtation that occured that resulted in deleting all the 500+ contacts in my iphone
A couple of days ago, I went to the mobile phone store and bought an iphone 4s upgrade package. I have been using an iphone 3s for the late couple of years.
recently I upgraded the software of the old iphone and received the icloud software and backed up all the data to the cloud.
Now during the upgrade to the iphone 4s the shop assistant set up the new phone and transfered the sim etc to the new phone, I was unaware that the new iphone was now a clone of my old iphone with all my old data and a live sync to the icloud and itunes etc.
When I got home I decided that I would give the new phone to my wife, so I proceeded to delete all the data off the new phone, this involved manually deleting all 500+ contacts in the address book, bar a few close friends that my wife knows, to safe her reentering the data.
What I did not know was that the phone was syncing to the icloud/itunes everytime i hit delete and deleted a contact from the icloud and also from my old iphone that I am still using, so now I have 2 x iphones with no contact data.
I have lost 15years of accumulated business and personal contact info, 75% of which I have no way of recovering from other sources.
My obvious questions is, is there any way of restoring my iphone's contact data from an earlier version of the the auto sync backup ie from 2 days ago ie the 18th June 2012 and not the sync'd backup from today or this evening?
OR is my life lost for ever?

Unless you backed up somewhere else before deleting the contacts and not since, i.e. iTunes on your computer, sorry but no. The backups are overwritten each time there is changed data - old backups on iCloud aren't saved.
There is no way to restore any data deleted from an iOS device if it isn't in an available backup.

Water spilled onto macbook - Need emergency help now, please!

Last night about one cup of water spilled onto my macbook. Basically, it shut down and I made the mistake of trying to turn it on (multiple times).
It is now dry, but it still will not turn on. I do not have apple care, but I still do have a limited warranty.
My question is: what are my options? I need it repaired a.s.a.p. I know everybody says this, but I really do need it for college.
Anyway, again, what is the best option? Can I mail it it for them to fix? What NEEDS to be fixed? If I take it to an apple store (the nearest is about 300 miles away), can they fix it (and on the spot)? How much should this cost?

You can call Apple service. They will have to see it before they can quote a repair price. Not sure what country your in but if it is the US you could also try http://www.macservice.com/macbook.html, They will check it out and give you a quote and they are usually cheaper than Apple on most repairs. You can also do a search for MacBook Repairs and find numerous other sources for repair that may be very close to where you live.
