Hello Adobe Audition

Hi Adobe Audition HQ
I'm several weeks into my adventures with Adobe Audition CC (2014.2) on mac (MacBook Pro and iMac Retina 5k) and it hasn't been easy. So in the spirit of positive development thought I'd pop this up maybe for some discussion, hopefully some answers and maybe a timeline.
I emailed sales via the site over a week ago and not heard anything and sent in a bug report. Also I've had a positive chat yesterday someone from tech support by phone (thank you) - but as yet not managed to get to email or speak to anyone else higher up - as there's no email address.
In a nutshell the current multitrack platform on CC isn't fit for my old workflow from AA3 (running on XP - old school I know!) anymore. The major issue being audio briefly cutting out on editing functions while you are playing back in the multitrack. For example, splitting a file or grouping. This doesn't happen in AA3 and as someone who does hundreds of those kind of edits a day for work I can't have sound dropping out all the time no matter how short that buffer is. I appreciate that some compromise had to be made to make the program work on mac - but this is a major deal breaker/change for me from AA3.
Moving forward. 2 questions - Is there any time frame for this "cut out" to be addressed? And, is there any sign of a lower resolution option to run AA (CC) as well while I'm here as the graphics seem to really struggle on an iMac 5k (even though it is spec'd up the hilt with 32GB RAM and a 4GB video card and i7 processor - and I'm on my second one having sent one back already)??
AA3 is incredible and I have taught AA for several years at a college and used it constantly since 2000 (CoolEdit days!). It has been an incredible radio production platform. Having now paid my subscription to CC I have a DAW I can't use as a multi track and now to keep my business running am having to buy/set up a brand new DAW that does work properly on mac AND then buy a load of additional VST plugin's. That's before the hours/days I've lost trying to sort/find a replacement multitrack.
I'd be delighted to meet/spend some time with any audition developers - just wish there was a way of getting through to speak to someone.
Hope to get some answers - or maybe get some more feedback. Thanks for everyone's thoughts on the other couple of forum posts as well.
Maybe 2014.3 will fix it??! That'd be amazing and in every sense of the word we can go back to business as usual.

it also suggests that AA will only continue to further fall behind the competition.
Depends what you regard as 'competition'. As an editor, it has very little. Certainly not PT, Reaper, Studio One, or any of the music composition software, that's for sure. And the software that might be more realistically compared to it is seriously more expensive. Like Pyramix and Sadie, perhaps (and I'm not convinced that Sadie is really any better...).
If you read the independent reviews, you'll find that the only thing that Audition could do is to fall behind! And I don't think that there's too much danger of that, myself. But, in the same breath I'd also have to say that 'keeping ahead' isn't really what's happening. The reality of the situation is that Audition is part of a suite of software that's primarily video-oriented, and if it's heading in any direction at all, this will be the one. Broadcasters the world over are the primary customers, and it's what they want that will primarily drive forward its development - whether the rest of us like it or not. Personally that doesn't bother me too much - for the range of work I get, it's fine if it continues along this track, even though I don't 'do' video any more.
And no it doesn't do everything I want, either. But a combination of Audition, iZotope's RX and Ozone pretty much do, and that's fine by me.

  • Hello! I have just bought Adobe Audition CS6 and I'm having trouble installing it.

Whenever I install it I keep getting the message that it  "Failed to install Microsoft Visual C   2008 Redistributable Package (x86)" So I went to the Microsoft website and downloaded the package. That would not work either. How do I get both to work? It cost a lot of money to get this software and I would really like to use it properly. Thank you for reading.

Without knowing anything about your system we can't even begin to advise. These libraries are used by gigazillions of programs and even device drivers, so the most plausible explanation is that one of those other tools has installed an incompatible version or has flagged them as critical so they cannot be arbitrarily removed by other installers. Either way, this is nothing that can be solved easily. Also not that you have a "display requirements not met" error there, which may point to a configuration issue with your graphics hardware and potentially cause the collateral issue with the MSVC libraries.

  • Adobe Audition CS5.5 with Premiere Pro CS5

    Hello everybody.
I am considering downgrading from Master Collection CS5 to Adobe Production Premium CS5.5
But quite frankly it's just because of one application.
Though, i am in doubt if i'll actually going to make the downgrade.
And as you could and might have guessed it is the Adobe Audition CS5.5 Application.
Though really the whole pack has a GREAT improvement overall, I just actaully want to mix SEAMLESSLY with Premiere Pro and sound editing application (Audition).
Which leads me to my next question.
Now with Adobe Soundbooth CS5 closed off (by April 24th), and an UPGRADE for Soundbooth CS5 users to Audition CS5. Does this mean that Audition CS5.5 works SEAMLESSLY with Premiere Pro CS5?
Is there a dynamic link between the two applications? (Audition CS5.5 and Premiere Pro CS5)
AM i able to send mixes between the two? I really don't want to loose any Audio data, such as 5.1 channel mapping, volume mixing, denoising, general mixing etc.
All i really need is some good quality sound editing which works seamless, as After Effects and Premiere Pro has proved to me can be done.
Just want to know if it is possible. Or if I REALLY have to upgrade in order to get the sweet apples.

    Hi _durin_
    Thanks for your quick response.
But I didn't quite understand your answer.
I have seen Jason Levine's video earlier, as CS5.5 was announced and it looks natively good. I understand the mixdown attributes etc.
Please correct me if im wrong HOWEVER this workflow and settings applies still to ONLY the new CS5.5 Version?
Im currently using Master Collection CS5.
Instead of getting either the Production Premium, or Master Collection I am strongly considering updating Soundbooth CS5 to Audition CS5.5 (the option is there as i can tell by SoundBooth's website, though i get a weird error message when I click the update link...)
However I need to know, IF Audition CS5.5 works well with the PREVIOUS version (that'll be CS5 not 5.5), of Premiere Pro.
Are there an option to render the reference video, and generate a interchange session from WITHIN Premiere Pro CS5 to Audition CS5.5?
Im sorry if I either sound harsh or "willingly" misunderstanding. But I have only documentation on how the integration works between the current versions (meaning 5.5).
Im as you can guess VERY confused over the move from Adobe to make a .5 version instead of a full-fledged CS6 solution. It causes a stir, cause I then don't know much of the integration between the previous applications.
I have seen as an example that Photoshop CS5 have gotten the update to receive paintings/files made with their new touch API. So I wonder whether integrational features will be a part of the CS5 pack since, as i've mentioned, an application like Soundbooth gets replaced with Audition, with an upgrade option for the Soundbooth owners.
Im confused and hope you can help me clear my mind up, whether to upgrade or not. I will download the trial eventually, but not onto my current CS5 system since I already use this in my daily video work and want to AVOID confusion.

  • Adobe Audition Will Not Save, Export

    Hello,
I finished a project in Audition last night and went to export it. When I checked on the export process after a few minutes, it was stuck at 0%. I wanted to restart the program to see if that would fix the issue, so I attempted to save the multitrack session, but it still froze at 0%. I noticed that there were 4 files processing according to the status bar at the bottom of the program. I tried to end the processes, which were saving metadata for recorded files. Only one of the files stopped saving, and the other three are stuck at 66% no matter what I do. I woke up this morning to check the progress and all files are still at 66% with the remaining time increasing rather than decreasing.
I'm assuming the issue is that Audition can only process so many files at once, so it won't save or export while the other files are processing. Regardless, I need to find a way to save my project before force quitting the program. I would greatly appreciate any suggested solutions.
I am on Windows 8, using Adobe Audition CC 2014.1 Build 7.1.0.119. Here is a screenshot of what happens when I try to save:
Here is one of the files frozen while saving metadata:

Maybe check to see if there are other (non Audition) processes happening in the background and also maybe check the available disk size of both the drive where the audio is and the drive where your temp files are

  • Problems Controlling Line in - Audigy 4, Adobe Audition

    Hello,
I just recently got Adobe Audition version 2.0. I have been running my mics through a Fender Passport PA head, then into my computer for a while, with my default soundcard and Acoustica Mixcraft.
Now, I have an Audigy 4 (with the little box thing) and am using Adobe Audition, and I can't control the line in volume. I have tried messing with all of the line levels with the Creative console, the default windows controls, and even a third-party volume control, none of which works.
Please, if anyone has any clue what's going on, I'd much appreciate some sort of solution. I'm trying to record drums, and they're LOUD.
    Thanks.

    Software based level controlling:
    In Audition, use ASIO drivers.
When ASIO is used, you can control input/recording levels through Audition (if there is a control for this) and through Surround Mixer (or Windows Playback control panels) Line-In Source slider -> i.e. the "recording level" setting in surround mixer does not have effect when you're working in ASIO mode (neither has wave source slider).
Hmm.. can't you also use Mixcraft controls for this, if you have routed your mics through it?

  • Adobe Audition line-in Recording Problems

    Hello,
I've just started using windows 7, used to and still do use on other computers windows xp.
I installed adobe audition 1.5 on the computer with windows 7.
In xp you had to select line in, in the recording control to allow you to record if something was playing in the background.
    see images: .
I can't seem to enable this function in 7, so i can't sample anything playing in the back ground.
Has anyone had this problem, do you know how to sort this out, please help.
    kind regards
    Dan W

You can probably do what you want. But you probably need to adjust settings within Adobe Audition.
First, since this is a new PC, it's really important to get all your hardware drivers and Windows 7 itself totally up-to-date.  Keep going back to Windows Update until Win 7 says it has installed all the downloads it can find for your new PC. Win 7 is pretty good about updating itself as needed.  Just let it do its thing. And then be sure that when you go to a website like youtube.com and play a video, you can hear sound over the PC speakers.
You probably already know how to tell whether stream recording will work in Audition, but just to be clear, if you're playing a video at youtube.com for example, and you can hear the sounds over the PC speaker and you have Audition in Record mode, you should be seeing the sound level bars at the bottom of the display dancing in time with the sounds you hear.  If they're not dancing, stream recording will not work.
To fix this, in AA1.5, go to Options>Device Properties.  Hit the "Wave In" tab (at the top)--not "Wave Out".  Near the top left of the window that pops when you click "Wave In" will be a window with a small arrow to the right of it.  Click on that small arrow.  It will show you a list of devices Audition thinks might be used to record sounds within Audition.  But if stream recording isn't working, Audition may be picking the wrong device to use.
Here's how to try a different device in Audition which may get stream recording working.  Follow the directions carefully here.  It's easy to skip a step and then it won't work. Unfortunately, setting devices in AA1.5 is unnecessarily unintuitive, IMO. Click the Change button to the right of the device window with the little arrow on "Wave In" tab.   On Recording Devices tab at the top, select a device in the window on the left (Unused Record Devices).  I can't tell you for sure which one will work with your PC, as this depends to an extent on your sound hardware which will be different from mine.  But two good ones to try first are Monitor and Line In. Click the device you want to try so it's highlighted, and then click the Use button.  It will move over to the box on the right (Multitrack Device Preference Order).  Click the Move Up button on the bottom there until the device you're trying next is raised up to "1st". Then click "OK" (not "X" or "Cancel") to close this window.  The display will then show the previous window and the device you elevated to 1st position should now appear in the device window there.  To the right of the Change button is a small check box labeled "Use this device in Edit View."  Be sure this box is checked and then click OK (not "X" or "Cancel") to close this window.  In WinXP, it used to help at this point to close and reopen Audition though I'm not sure it helps with Win 7; but you don't need to reboot the PC.
Now try playing that video in youtube again.  Can Audition stream record it?  If not, go back as before to Recording Devices and try a different device until you've tried each one of them in 1st position, being very careful that you are clicking OK to exit the two windows there and that "Use this device in Edit View" is checked each and every time you try a different device.
If the bars dance during Record mode, but you hear nothing in Audition when you play back the file, stream recording is now working but you may need to go back to Device Properties as above and this time pick a different device in "Wave Out" tab so Audition playback is correctly passed to your PC speakers.
Once you get it working, I strongly recommend making notes somewhere that you'll be able to find again if you have to reinstall everything, because as I say, this stuff is not intutive, and unless you have notes on the correct settings and how to get them on your PC, you'll find yourself out at sea again if you have to reinstall.

  • Adobe Audition CRASHED. Multitrack is scrambled. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hello. Can someone please help me!!!
I Just finished editing my vocal tracks in Adobe Audition and the whole sound session was playing well I pressed save. The computer was saving all what I was working on but crashed. I re opened Adobe and all of my tracks are out of place and scrambled all over. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? I listen to the tracks in edit view and the sound files sound fine. But it’s when in multitrack view all the sound files are scrambled.
    Can someone please help me???
    [email protected]
    Thank You.

    Hello Everybody.
Thank you therealdobro and Suite Spot for your responses.
After breaking down, leaving my house, storming through town, flailing my hands in the air, kicking the air and saying the F word multiple times I finally came home to then find myself breaking down some more on my hands and knees saying the F word more multiple times and crying on the floor worse then a little kid having a temper tantrum or someone having one of their body parts cut off. But I would mostly compare my actions to someone losing a loved one and breaking down mixed with a mental patient in an insane asylum in a strait jacket wanting to escape and go back to when things were normal and happy.
So as a few hours of insanity passed I then called a friend to ask of is there any way at all to restore my computer to a former date and time? My friend told me that I can use system restore. So I did. But long story short system restore didn’t work so I started to break down again but also somehow kept hope that system restore may just work if I keep trying. I kept trying multiple times but once again it didn’t work. I then finally had one last breakdown and decided to move all of my 35 tracks into proper place by ear and hand.
So… Ask me how I’ am doing now? Well… 10 hours later after putting the puzzle together by ear and hand I now have a finished song that sounds better than it did in the first place. I must give the glory to Jesus though because without him guiding me through this extremely torturing time I would still be curled in a ball sucking my thumb and wanting to die.
So once again thank you therealdobro and Suite Spot for your responses. And although I fixed it all by hand and ear, therealdobro you were right (Allthough I checked Adobe forums after I fixed it, lol) also thank you Suite Spot for volunteering to look into my session and see if you could do anything to fix it. I thank you a lot.
Ps. If any of you would like to hear the complete song when it is done being mastered let me know and I would be more than happy to show you.
GOD Bless In Jesus Name, Amen.

  • Adobe Audition 3.0.1 - Saving/Converting WAV's to MP3 adds small amounts of time to my MP3 files !!?

    Hello.
I am new to the Forum, but turning to the masses out there for help with a weird one!
I have used Adobe Audition for YEARS. I do a lot of converting of my finished WAV files to Mp3 files. The finished WAV's have always been in 48000Hz, 16 bit Stereo, and are always mixed to the specified time (e.g. 15, 30 or 60 seconds duration). These are then converted to mp3 files, using the 'Save As' option, choosing the 'Save As Type' as mp3PRO (Fhg) (*.mp3) option.
My conversion settings have always been:
CBR, mp3, 320Kbps 48000Hz Stereo (4:8:1), Maximum bandwith = 24000Hz, CBR Rate = 320, Sample Rate = 48000Hz, Codec = Current - Best Quality, Allow mid-side joint stereo, allow intensity joint stereo, Set 'Private' Bit, ISO Padding, Write CRC Check Sums.
...Now, for some strange reason, ever since last night, whenever I do the above process - the resulting mp2 file seems to ADD ON little bits of time...from 0.048 of a second to around 0.168 of a second..!!??? So to further clarify: If I convert a 15 second WAV file to mp3 - the resulting mp3 file ends up being slightly longer in duration at: 15.168 seconds..???
This has never happened before. And, a solution has got me beat.
I have tried different conversion settings, different configurations - even saving the initial WAV as a lower sample rate - but, no joy.
I have an old version of Adobe Audition 2.0 on a different machine - and guess what?! Even IT does this same weird thing now too.
It doesn't seem to matter if I REC and convert new files or convert old files - same problem.
Even opening up mp3 files - that I KNOW were spot on for time - now also have these little bits of extra time added to them, once they are openned...??? What the...!!??
I spent over half an hour on the phone with Adobe Tech support, earlier this afternoon. They got me to reset all of my user configuration files - but, didn't slove the issue!
PLEASE:     Has anyone experienced this same conversion issue..? I would also be interested to know, if anyone else replicates these conversion settings, if they get the same problem..?
Could this be one of those good old Windows update things..?
Does anyone know if there are updates available for Auditions built-in mp3PRO encoder / decoder..?
    PLEASE HELP !!!
    Thank you, in advance.
    John.

Well I don't know how you've missed this before, but it's always done it. It's a throwback to Syntrillium days, when it was discovered that some MP3 players managed to cut off the starts and finishes of MP3 files. The developers got around this by adding a small amount of silence when coding an MP3. Originally, Audition's loop files were MP3-based as well, but these didn't have the added silence, because obviously that would screw up the looping a treat. But as far as I'm aware, even though players are better now (aren't they???), the additional silence remains.
I'm not surprised that the help desk doesn't know about this - it's a bit subtle. And with the best will in the world, they only have the crib sheets they're given, and they certainly don't cover everything that happens.

  • Adobe Audition issue

Hello everyone. First of all, i would like to thank you for your time in reading this.
I have a problem that happened when i put together my new pc
I work on Adobe Audition 1.5 from my old pc and when i used to work, i could import MP3's no problem and now on the new pc i cannot which is hindering my work badly as i have to sit and convert them into wav's then enter them( Using a separate converter coz MP3's are not even being read by Audition )
Ive tried multiple things to solve this but was unable to.
One peculiar thing i would like to mention is when i went tocontrol pannel to re-install, i hit repair instead to see what i can do, and it showed me my file associations and apparently everytime i tick MP3 over there, and hit repair, if i go back and do the same thing, it shows me MP3's as unticked. It automatically removes MP3 as a file association for some reason. I really need help in this if anyone can, Thanks again for your time!

  • How to Enable Adobe Audition?

    Hello!
I am currently using Aodbe Premiere CC for a short film. I need to edit the audio with Adobe Audition, but the option is greyed out.
I tried to look if other people had my same problem, and I found that I should:
" Look for the default .sesx files in your Document/Adobe/Audition/6.0/Session Templates folder (on Windows 7)
There should be a list of preset .sesx files. Right-click one and set its default application as Adobe Audition by using the "open with" option."
I went to the folder but there is not that specific folder with the .sesx files. Does anybody know if I did something wrong?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi  Flaviodarth,
Thanks for posting on Adobe forums.
As I understood, you are not able to get this option in Premiere Pro CC to edit clip in Audition.
    1. Please make sure you have selected the audio clip, you want edit in Adobe Audition.
    2. If the above said option is grayed out, please try to launch Audition, make sure its working fine.
Please check these two things for now, I will be researching and will update the post.
    Happy Editing,
    Sandeep

  • Effect Presets lost in Adobe Audition CS6

Hello. 5 days ago, my Adobe Audition CS6 crashed and I've lost all of my vocals mixing and mastering effect presets. How can I get them back? Are there some backup options? Please help me. Thanks a lot!

Talking to an actual human being may be a problem but you should try your local Adobe Support. Can't give you a number because it depends on where in the world you are. But you should find it on Adobe's website for your area. We are just User to User support on this forum.
If you registered your copy then you should be able to log into your Adobe account and somewhere there should be a list of your registered products/software and the serial number that goes with it.

  • Problem Premiere CC not sending audio file to Adobe Audition

    Hello,
I have an audio clip in Premiere Pro CC that I am attempting to send to Audition via dynamic link with "Edit Clip In Adobe Audition."  I have done this in the past but not since I have upgrade all my versions from the CS6 version to the CC 2014 versions.  Previously it worked without incident.  Here is what happens now.
    1.  I right click the audio track (Mono-005.wav) in the premiere pro cc timeline.
    2.  I select "Edict Clip in Adobe Audition.
    3.  In Premiere Pro CC a new audio track is generated (MONO-005 Audio Extracted.wav) on the timeline - replacing the previous track (MONO-005.wav) and in my Premiere Pro CC media bin BUT it never opens up in Adobe Audition....the program (Adobe Audition) never even attempts to open up.
I was getting the Audition error "primary temp volume cannot be found" so I went in to Audition and changed the Media & Disk Cache file location and now I can open up the Adobe Audition program just fine if I am clicking it directly to open.  However, whenever I attempt to bring an audio file from premiere with dynamic link (as referenced above) Audition does not even attempt to open.
    Software
    Adobe Audition Build 7.2.0.52
Adobe Premiere Pro CC Build 8.1.0 (81)
    Computer
    Processor - Intel (R) Xeon (R) CPU   X5560 @ 2.80 GHz 2.79 GHz (2 processors)
RAM 48 GB (currently 40 GB usable)
    64 bit operating system
Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Had this issue before.  Check the file associations to see if Audition CC 2014 is set as the default editing program to open sesx files, etc.
You might want to make sure that all the other apps are set as well.  I have three versions of the software on my machine, and I had to do this to ensure the latest version was set as the default app for the appropriate file types to make dynamic linking work.

  • Adobe Audition 1.5 (Editing & Mastering Vocals)

Hello everyone, my name is Andrew and I am brand new to the forum.
I use adobe audition 1.5 to record songs (hip-hop) and whatnot, but when I edit the vocals, it does not sound any better than recording it. I already know that it depends on the sound card you have and the mic you use. I use a MXL USB.006 microphone. Regardless of the equipment, I was wondering what effects are recommended when editing vocals and all that. If anyone can give me full details on what i should use and all that good editing stuff, it would be appreciated. Thank you..

    Dre_Wins wrote:

Can't, really. This is because we have no idea of what your tracks sound like, for a start. And absolutely all vocals sound different, and therefore need treating differently. There is no 'standard' processing for any vocal at all - simply because to get a good vocal result involves making it sit correctly in your track, and we haven't heard it. Most peoples' idea of vocal processing involves compression - but there are several different ways of going about this, and once again, it's all track-dependant.
On top of all that, this isn't really the forum for this sort of question, because it deals primarily with Audition operational problems. You might be rather better served by posting an example in AudioMasters, where you will probably get rather better feedback.
