Hello, can i use the new magsafe connector on a mac pro from 2008?
Hello, I have a mac pro 15' from 2008, and the connector just stop working, in fact I have 2 connectors, because I broke a mac pro brand new, and then I had to buy this one, so both connectors stop working all of a sudden, and now when I went to Apple Store, the anwwer I got was "is not possible to repair" and we don't have to deliver before 4 months. I am atonished! 4 months?? How is that possible, and they show to me in Apple online the answer and it say 4 months indeed. Now I am looking to the new magsafe connector, that was made to the new mac pro and the deliver is the next day. My question is
can I use this one on my mac pro from 2008? Because i reada few things that there were complains that the new did not work. Can i get some help one this please?

Guys we have a legit question here about a power cord and you guys are going back and forth here. If you guys want to ccontinue can you please just give each other your emails.
ANYWAY - What I know of the magsafe cord is s different sized port.
All magsafe plugs fit in all magsafe sockets, no exception. Your only concern is that the power output of the supply be equal to or greater than the computer into which it is plugged.

I can not use the internal wireless card with my Mac pro 2012, I don't know if it is broken. The problem is happen recently, I have to use an independent wireless card now. Thanks!
When you enable Internet Sharing in OS X, you are creating a separate sub-net.
There is no option to allow this to be a simple pass-through from Ethernet to AirPort (or the other way).
The problem is easily solved by getting an inexpensive wireless router. You can replace your current router OR disable the DHCP server on the wireless router and allow the wireless clients to get an IP address from the current router. -
Can I use the old MagSafe connector with the new MBP
I must say that I like the new style MagSafe connector that came with my new MBP. I would like to get an extra to leave in another room, but I'm not hot to pay $79 to Apple for one. I saw an 85 Watt old style connector on eBay for $35. Would the old style work on my new MBP? I don't want to screw it up just to save $44, but if it will work, why buy the $79 unit.
Basically, it would only be serving duty while my MBP is connected to my Time Machine. As long as it is healthy it will work, Macaby.
Be wary of second hand units that haven't been tested though. Quite a few that haven't been well treated develop weakening of the wires at the points where they enter either the magnetic "head" or the body of the power block. At best these are likely to fail prematurely. At worst they may cause sparks to fly!
OWC sell tested second hand units for a price somewhere in between the eBay "used" price and the cost of a new one, that might be worth a look.
Be wary of cheap third party imitations. The extra few dollars is a small price to pay to avoid the catastrophic consequences that can occur if a badly made power adaptor happens to decide to start a fire!
Cheers

My macbook came with a 60 watt magsafe charger with the white magnetic tip. It crapped out on me and now need to buy a new one but everyone says it uses a 85 watt which is false since i bought it new and the 60 watt charger came in the sealed box.
1. If I buy the 85 watt will it damage my macbook pro?
2. can I use the new magsafe charger with the new aluminuin tip with my macbook pro?

Can I use a Asus Nvidia gt640 with a mac pro 2006?
Just got my first intel mac! Not the newest thing but it will do. I just have a quick question, can I use the Nvidia gt640 2gb with a Mac pro 2006 with no flashing of the system or the card. Thank's. -Edward
First, you need to look at what OS version you have. Mnay people (myself included) running some of the newer OS version are using Nvidia cards not released for the Mac. OS X Mavericks for example will support these cards, but you lose some functionaility (boot screen, etc.) Once the machine is up and running they work fine.
With a 2006 model you are before the 3.1 machines and therefore limited in the OSX version you can run. I think you need at least 10.7 Lion.
So if you can run 10.7 the answer is probably, but then you will lose some basic functionality. For many this is not important. -

Can I use the new Time Capsule to backup my mid 2010 Macbook Pro? Also can I want to free up my hard disk, can I save my photos and files on the time capsule and later access through wifi?
Can I use the new Time Capsule to backup my mid 2010 Macbook Pro?
Yes, if you are asking about using Time Machine to backup the Mac.
Also can I want to free up my hard disk, can I save my photos and files on the time capsule and later access through wifi?
You are not thinking of deleting the photos and files on your Mac, are you? If you do this, you will have no backups for those files.
Another concern is that Time Machine backs up the changes on your Mac. At some point, Time Machine will automatically delete the photos and files from the Time Capsule.....you just don't know when this might occur.
In other words, only delete files from your Mac that you can afford to lose. -
I purchased an album and didn't receive all of the songs. I have iTunes 9.2.1 so I can't use the new 'Downloading past purchases" feature. How do I get the other songs? Using an Iphone 3Gs
Look under the Store menu in iTunes on your computer for the "Check for available downloads" command and run that. You may find the tracks there to be downloaded.
If not, contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department from their Support page (select the category and subcategory closest to the issue you're reporting and you'll find either an "Express Lane" button - just follow the instructions to get to the contact form, or an "Email Us" button) and explain the problem to them.

Can I use the new time capsule running 10.68 on my Imac?
Can I use the new time capsule running 10.68 on my Imac? I thinking of buying my first Time Capsule and wanted to get the new one. Is it reqiured for me to upgrade my OS first?
Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can use the Time Capsule with your iMac. The problem is that you need AirPort Utility 6.3 to set up the Time Capsule, and it needs OS X 10.7 or later.
If you have an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, you can connect the Time Capsule to the power adapter, open Settings > Wi-Fi, and set up the Time Capsule through it. Then, you will be able to connect to the Time Capsule.
If you haven't got any other device, upgrade OS X. Open the Mac App Store and purchase OS X Mountain Lion. While it's being downloaded, make a backup of your files with Time Machine and check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com
When the download finishes, the Mountain Lion installer will appear, so follow its steps. After upgrading, open > Software Update, install AirPort Utility 6.3, open it in /Applications/Utilities and follow the steps to set up the Time Capsule -

Can I use the new Bing Maps control released in Feb 2015 in my windows store app?
Can I use the new Bing Maps control released in Feb 2015 in my windows store app? If not, will there be a release of the store app version that has all or most of the updates that are in the new map control for WPF/Silverlight?
The FEB 2015 release was for the WPF map control which is for desktop only. There is an existing Bing Maps SDK for Windows Store apps which has a lot more functionality than the WPF map control already. You can find this SDK here:

You can find documentation this SDK here:

Also, I have written a free ebook on this SDK here:

Can I use the internal airport card of my Mac as a BRIDGE?
* My Mac is part of my home network.
* My wired Router provides NAT addressing for all wired computers and printers.
Question:
Can I use the internal airport card of my Mac as a BRIDGE?
I am able to create a second LAN where the internal airport card, creates it's own network, but then the wireless computers are not on the same network as the wired.
If using an Airport Express, there is an option you can uncheck "assign IP address" that turns it into a bridge.... Is there anything similar with os X 10.4.3answered in another thread
