Hello everyone! arrange photos issue!
i'd like to ask if there is a way to arrange all my photos in iphoto without dublicates and delete the latter from any other destination for instance i use lightroom.the problem is that my mac is full of the same photos from three programs aperture lightroom and iphoto.I want to do aproper arrangement without loosing any data.thanks

You're using three apps to do the same job - iPhoto, Lightroom and Aperture. Makes no sense. Would you write a novel in Word, TextEdit and Pages at the same time?
All of these apps do the same job. They are database driven Photo Managers. Work done in LR is not avaialble to either Aperture or iPhoto. Work done in Aperture is not available to iPhoto or LR. Work done in iPhoto is available to Aperture for the purposes of migrating, and not available to LR. Working the three of them is making for a pointlessly complex workflow.
So, decide which among the three you enjoy using most, and then forget the other two.

hello everyone. I have recently installed a Samsung SSD (solid state hard drive) into my destop PC. For some reason Lightroom does not see it ? So i cannot ingest photos from it, or copy photos from a card to it. It is not listed as a drive option. LR sees every other drive. My computer sees it fine, so i was able to create a catalogue there. Im running windows 8.1. Any ideas ? I will also add that this drive became corrupt and was repaired by Samsung. Maybe they didn't do a very good job.. ..

Opened Lightroom.
Create new catalogue.
This opened the Windows 8 file explorer window and Windows recognises the drive. So I was able to create a catalogue there and save.
I then inserted my memory card into my card reader which LR recognised. I selected it, chose all the photos within and then navigated to the right side of the Lr import dialogue window to locate this problem drive as on this occasion i want the RAW files on the same drive as the lrcat. However all my other drives are listed but not this Samsung SSD.
In addition this Samsung SSD is not listed a drive to import from in the same dialogue window. -

That may not be what you want, but Jpeg images are flattened, without transparency. Every pixel has a color value, with the default background usually being white. If you want to crate an image that leaves the erased area transparent, you will need to use an image format such as .gif or .pnc.

Hello everyone, I bought a macbook retina 15 "display.'ve Connected 2 full hd 1920x1080 monitor as extended desktop, if I cast two movies I can see them on the second monitor, but if I wanted to launch 3840x1080 1 movie how do I watch on two monitors side by side ? same thing if I wanted to work on both monitors as if it were a single monitor with a resolution of 3840x1080. If you have used the Displays system preference to arrange the monitors next to each other, you should be able to stretch a movie player window across both monitors.
I do not think there is a way to show the movie full screen across both monitors, because full screen usually takes over just one monitor. -
How to arrange photos in Aperture slide shows to the beat of the music?
Is there anyone that knows how to arrange photos to the beat of the music in Aperture slide shows? I have tried to do a search for this topic, looked at "help" and still can get things to work properly. The "beat of music" command seems to be grayed out. Is there a bug in the software? Any help would be appreciated.
I have been following this thread with great interest. I have tried to do this in Aperture as well. Jumping ahead just a bit to what might be David's next issue, once we figure out why the option is not available to him.
For me once the music has been added the " Align slide to the beat" is available. However it doesn't seem to do anything.
I have accomplished this in iMovie and Final Cut Express. In both of these programs you have to actually mark the beats for things to work. You mark the beats and the software sets the play duration to match. This is pretty easy in iMovie. I am hoping for a similar or better interface in Aperture 3. How is this accomplished in Aperture? -
Arranging Photos When Synching MobileMe from Aperture to web
When I arrange the photos in my mobile me album in Aperture by "Rating", then synch it from aperture to the web, it keeps going back to "Manual", affecting the photo arrangements I intended. Of course, when i send the link to the client what he sees will be totally different from what I'm talking about.
The annoying thing is I keep telling it to arrange photos by Rating, synch it again, and it goes back to Manual, over and over. I have about 300 photos in the album, and sometimes it takes long.Thanks to you all for the help and welcoming to the forum. I will get a color calibrator tomorrow as I know I need it. That link is very helpful also.
So far in my 1st two weeks running a mac, barring a few issues that I believe can be addressed with system updates, I am more than happy I made the switch.
I find photoshop and all my image editing software run really fast compared to my old windows pc. The funny thing is my pc is a 3.2ghz processor and my mbp is a 2ghz processor. Go figure!!
I like aperture a lot also but I am also pleased with lightroom. There is one major reason why I find myself using lightroom still. I can't find a way to edit multi images in aperture. In lr I just select the images I want to say change white balance, I select the preset wb or color temp. and then it updates all the images I have selected. Is there an equivalent to this action in aperture? I think if I had this available to me I would very very happy with aperture.

I would just like to say that I really hope the Revel designers/engineers decide to - ASAP please!!! - create a function whereby we users can custom arrange photos (library and albums) in whatever order we would like. So far, that is the only function I can see that is making Revel less than perfect for viewing and sharing photos. Instead of providing a button where we can immediately print photos with Walgreens (does anyone still go to Walgreens??), please make a function where we can CUSTOM arrange our photos. From what I can tell this issue hasn't been addressed since last year (2013)….well….we're in the middle of 2014 now…. Um, 'nuf said.
If you set “Keep All Originals” set to On on your mac (the default setting), your revel photos are stored in two places: the cloud and the hard drive. The backup file on your Mac can be found at: (/Users/<username>/Pictures/Adobe Revel/Adobe Revel Library.rvl)
(right-clickon the file and select open package contents to get to the photos)
You can disable Keep all Originals if you know you have your originals stored safely elsewhere, or if you don’t have enough disk space on your Mac to accommodate all photos.

Hello everyone. I just got a 1GB iPod Shuffle, I really like it, it works great. However I noticed when I pause it, and press to play, it advances to the next song most of the time. Some songs resume play were I left off, but most skip to the next? Any solutions?

AMD Duron Windows XP 1 GhzYeah I also noticed that. I am not sure which song played, but I have been reading other posts and it seems to be a common issue. Not sure if its with just the shuffle or all iPods. Maybe Apple will have a fix.

thanks to all helpersThis would be something you would need to address with your credit card company. Apple cannot tell you who else might have used your card nor what purchases they might have made. Call your credit card company and report the charges as fraudulent. You'll probably need to have them cancel your existing card and issue you a new one.

First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
If you're using Time Machine to back up a portable Mac, some of the available space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of files you've recently deleted. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as "Backups." The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself.
To locate large files, you can use Spotlight. That method may not find large folders that contain a lot of small files.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders. It may take some minutes for ODS to list all the files.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal. -
