Thank you in advance for your help and pleas, hope you all can excuse my english...
So here is my problem:
1) Two weeks ago I bought an brand new iphone 4 in the US. The iphone was brought to Lima, Perú where i currently live.
2) The camera is not working and searching the web has made prety clear that is because of a hardware issue
3) There is no apple store in Lima and when i ask apple what to do they give me the contact number of the two telephone companies that work here (but they didn´t sell the phone to me so wont take care of solving the problem).
4) Can´t contact apple care number from Lima
Any ideas?

Camera not working in Apple apps on ML 10.8.1

PhotoBooth, FaceTime and QuickTime both say that there is no camera attached when I open them on my MBP mid 2010
Skype works just fine...

Hi, I tried to click on the site identity icon, but there only appeared a reference to Google Talk plugin (Block or continue allowing). Then I manually checked permissions, and changed Camera from "default" to "always allow" on Gmail and Google Talk. No changes at all. After all I have done, I still think it's not a problem of permissions, but a problem of this specific driver not being recognized in Flash / Firefox. I tried with like 10 different versions of Firefox (40, 39, 38, 37 ...) and several Flash versions too. Reinstalled the camera a few times, the Intel HD graphics drivers, removed camera, used default drivers, then used the ones from Lenovo ... When I click in the plugin message nothing happens, I can see from the source code that it's a Flash message.

There is no Apple here, this is a user to user forum. When you said you restored, then you restore as NEW?
If you restored as New and still the problem persiist, then it time to take a trip to the Apple store.

It sounds like there is an issue with the camera on your iPad. The article linked below has a lot of great troubleshooting suggestions for a similar issue on an iPhone but the suggestions should resolve the issue with your iPad too.
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

Old macbook pro3,1 (2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo) camera not working with Mavericks

I have an old macbook pro3,1 (2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo, I think 2007), builtin camera not working and I think it is related to mavericks update.
Anyone had the same problem, and if yes what is the solusion?

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
    b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
     Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
     COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
     computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
     screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
     Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).
4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
Reinstall the 10.9.2 update: OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 Update (Combo).

Macbook pro camera not working -- very bad support

I have a macbook pro bought around October 2010. It has 3 years international warranty.
Few months back when I wanted to use skype, I figured out that the camera is not working. Took it to Apple care centre in Bangalore.
They found the camara to be defective. From their notes
" Reset SMC and PRAM. No go. Tried with known good OS. No go. Found camera not detected in system profiler. Checked with known good display. Camera working. Denied coverage as dent on the display clamshell"
Chatted with the relationship officer Joana,
1. I fail to understand that replacing the camera requires relplacing the whole display
2. Small scrach (can send the picture to you) on the outer cover of teh display is not the root cause of the camera not working
3. Display is working perfectly fine. Only camera not working
The relationship officers are such dumb and techically challenged people, that they fail to understand the real issue and instead just try to console you.
If camera is not working due to a defect, it needs to be replaced in warranty, if Apple's design dictates camera replacemnt to the whole display replacement, so be it.
Due to my feedback, some of my colleges (10+ guys) took Macbook pro. Extreamely dis-satisfied with the support cell and their techical abilities. Did not expect this from Apple. Will not take any Apple product and will not recommend anyone. Thinkpad rocks!!

The inbuilt camera from a MacBook Pro (15-inch Late 2011) cannot be operated by Mac OS X (10.3.x). Upgrade to the current Apple OS X.

Crap. That's what I was afraid of...Well, since I'm away from home and not near my pc, it sounds like I'm out of luck. The problem is that I need my phone to be at least functional for making and receiving calls. There's an apple store nearby. Perhaps I can go there and have them restore it and at least I'll be able to make and receive calls until I get home and restore from my backup. Does that sound feasible, or am I missing something?
