how i authorize my computer to download past purchases on it?
All you have to do is sign in to the apple store inside iTunes. If is doesn't show up automatically go to the Store menu > Authorize This Computer... You will have access to all of your purchases.

HT1420 There is no "authorize this computer" button from the itunes store.
I'm trying to authorize a new computer from the itunes store. The tutorial says to click on the "authorize this computer" button from the itunes store, but I cannot find it! So frustrating!
It is not in the iTunes Store...
Open iTunes...
If you're using iTunes 11 click on the box icon in the top-left corner to see the " Show Menu Bar "
and from the Menu Bar select Store...
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer.
(In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.
See Here for full details...

Authorization and Deauthorization
Macs: iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
Windows: How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
1. Open iTunes on a computer
2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us. -

How do I copy Ipod games downloaded from ITunes Store to my new computer?
I've a new computer, backup of music library already on ext. hardrive, but what about my Ipod games? How can I copy my purchases on my new computer? Please help my step by step.Tks
Are the games still on your old computer? Do you still have access to this? Are you using iTunes version 8 or 9?
Have a look at this article which tells you how iTunes media is organized for both iTunes 8 and iTunes 9. It's just a matter of copying the relevant folder from one computer to another.
You can use you iPod as an external disc to do this.
See: How to use your iPod to move music and media to a new computer. -
How do I authorize my new computer to download my itunes
I purchased a new computer with Windows 8 on it. I am trying to download my itunes music onto my computer, I keep getting a message to authorize my computer, well, I tried, I even printed out what it tells me to do, and I still can't figure out how to authorize my computer and I would really like to listen to my music as well as add more.
I do have an IPOD, older model.First, copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.
Second, select Store > Authorize this Computer from the menu. If the menu is not enabled, Cntrl + B will enable it. -

Itunes asks the authorize my computer before downloading how do i do s
There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:
