Experiment. No harm in trying.
If you are just starting to use Pages you need to make your own assessment given current events whether committing your work to a format and software given this support is a wise move.
You also need to look at what will produce workable results. Particularly if your large posters are to be commercially printed and contain large bitmap (photographic) images.
Always work backwards from your output. Ask your printer what they require to do their job.

I've created over a hundred files in Photoshop for placement in a book I'm making with software provided by the printer that uses templates of set sizes. My big mistake was to make all the files in Photoshop at A4 size (21cm X 29.7cm) whereas the template page size is 8 x 10 inches. (I know, really dumb on my part not to double-check this vital statistic!).
If I change the document dimensions via Image > Canvas Size, the images (which are all printed articles, not photos) are cropped, which is useless.
Rather than create 100 new files using the correct page setup dimensions, changing the image dimensions in the old file, copying and pasting it into the new (10" x 8") file, can anyone suggest a simpler way? I don't mind doing this manually, but ideally I'll be able to do it in the existing file rather than creating a new one.

Thank you very much for this. I am a novice at certain things in Photoshop and making actions is one of them. However, I will learn how to do it as I can see it will make my life easier.
I'm confused by one thing. The other answer to my question (see thread) says to turn Resample Image "off". You say to turn it on. Which is it? I didn't really understand the other advice or the terminology (e.g interpolate).

How to change admin account and use folder from old account?

Hi, I created a new admin account, and now I need to get all folders like Music, Documents, Video etc from old admin account. So, if I loged in as a new admin I see all folders with red sign in the coner and don't have permistion to see them or move. What are my options?
I do have Time Machine backup from old admin account, but it also doesn't let me open folders from the new admin.

Go back to the old account. Select one of the folders you moved to the Public folder and open the Info window. Click the lock icon and authenticate. Change the access permission for Everyone to Read. From the action menu (gear icon), select Apply to enclosed items. Repeat for each folder. Switch to the new account and try the copy again.

Intercepting or bypassing RSL and using our own bytes

I'm looking for a way in which i can modify the RSL preloading behaviour in such a way that it won't load the RSL from the URL as entered in Flash, but instead use some ByteArray i have loaded myself.
My use-case: I start with a complete working Flash site (a Gaia-framework project): a single main.swf with each sub page as a seperate swf, xml and some RSL's that have the shared artwork as used by the pages. For business reasons we sometimes need to wrap this into a single file.
With some tricks (using Ant + javascript from FDT) I embed the whole thing into a wrapping SWF using auto-generated [Embed] metatags, compile using FCSH, later at runtime our extended Loaders and URLLoaders i the original site feed in the bytes i've embedded by using loadBytes(). This works great so far, and best of all compeltely automatic (Ant is awesome!)
Only problem: the RSL's are allways loaded from the URL that's linked in the asset that's shared. This means those SWF's need to exist next to my main.swf (which is now the wrapper SWF). Thiis is not an option, i'm wrapping because we need 1 single SWF.
Since i have all the bytes and know which ones are the runtime SWF's i can load them into the main ApplicationDomain so the definitions are availible for the pages. What i need is a way to stop Flash from loading the RSL by url (and failing and then stopping the player with a nasty error and a white screen).
Anyone got some idea's on this? Besides ditching RSL alltogether that is (i'd love to do that but we need the resource sharing in the non-wrapped site, for filesize and editablity advantages)

The Spark Skins will be included in the RSL,but the minute you make changes to them you won't get the benefit of the RSL (unless you're just mucking with colors via styles).

If you are referring to an iDevice, sign out of your new Apple ID and sign back in with your old one - they should all be there.

Adobe PDF printer gets installed when you install Acrobat 10 Pro.
To use this printer you need to purchase Acrobat. Once the trial period is over you cannot use the printer to create pdf files.
An alternative way for you is to utilize Microsoft's own inbuilt pdf engine.
You can simply open the file and select 'Save as' and in the type list select 'pdf'

Reducing app size and using memory

Building with release preference Blank App template will give you a ~200kb .exe, which in running state use ~7mb of memory.
It has a huge list of external dependencies.
So, is it possible to reduce app size and using memory?

Normally those tricks we learned from stone age are picked by tools already.

How old is your Mac? If it's very recent you need to update via the App Store
If you purchased at the App Store you need to update via the App Store
Otherwise you update via Softare Update

Long story short, I made a backup using TimeMachine of my iMac. I got my MBA which was being repaired and i restored from backup. Everything works fine, except for iPhoto which is not saying:
"You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Do you want to quit and use the latest version of iPhoto, or do you want to create a new photo library?"
I have OS X 10.7.2 and iPhoto 9.1.4. I've tried:
Repairing permissions
Deleting iPhoto, installing agaian, and updating
Repaired iPhoto Library (stays stuck at 98% when rebuilding database)
I've also tried iPhoto Library manager which cannot even see the library
Tried restoring from backup from iPhoto and it messed up library (I still had my backup)
Quite frustrating - any ideas on how to get iPhoto back to life?

Dunno why Software update was not displaying the latest version of iPhoto (9.2.1 as of January 27, 2012)...updating to this has fixed the issue
