:-( checked it out. I have several mail accounts under Messages loaded but the iMessage one where you enter the APPLE ID just won't sign in.
Same for FaceTime - the login just does not work.
I do have a GMX mail as login though but I was not able to find any settings for GMX for the account type to use.
All I was able to find on the net is how to configure Apple Mail for an GMX account.
Anyway the login on FaceTime or iMessage do not work with my APPLE ID that does in fact is a GMX e-mail address.

When trying to restore or update my Iphone 4 it errors out with message:..."could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible." How do I resolve this?
Ask him if he has 'jailbroken' the ipod touch. Some jailbreaking firmware resets it to Ipad firmware and so it is very difficult to restore as itunes simply doesnt recognise it for what it is. It's Apple's solution to try and stop mass jailbreaking.

I have purchased Quick Time Pro and received my key. I am told to go to QuickTime settings to update and I do not have Quick Time in my control panel.
When I bring up QuickTime and click Help to Update I am told that a connection to the server could not be made due to either the server being down or my computer not having an internet connection. I am connected to the internet so I know that is not the problem.
How do I update my Quick Time player from 7.7.2 to QuickTime Pro that I have purchased?Launch the QuickTime Player and go "Edit > Preferences > Register", as per the following screenshot:

I can't Start, Uninstall of Install new iTunes. I'm getting the same error message: "Window Installer Service could not be accessed". No other programs having similar problem. Any suggestions how to fix it?

I've tried turning the phone off and back on, & tried both USB ports but get the same thing. What can I do next since it doesn't give me even one clue as to what the error would be?
Before I started to resync calendars one by one as suggested in the troubleshooting article, I remembered something that came up in a sync when I first attempted : a 'which one do you want to keep' message about a repeating calendar event, which came up with three options, one from Calendar, and two from iCal on the phone. I deleted that event, then went through the calendar resync one by one, and all seems OK now.
In Music there is a way to find 'ghost' items that show up as grayed-out on the menus, so that you can try to reassociate or delete them. It would be nice to have a similar way to work with Calendar!

Solved for me.
I set the owner/permissions of my profile's mozilla folder's (and all the files in it) to read/write access, and the problem disappeared.

Every time I download a new app or update an old one it doesn't work. It gives an error message saying it is unable to download the application. I have 2 choices. Retry or done. Retry doesn't work so I press done. What can I do to fix this? Someone please help!
Try using Google's DNS instead of the one your IPS is providing.
- To change on the iPod go to Settings>wifi and change the DNS to 8.8.8.8
- For the computer see:

- Did anything happen to your router right before this started? Maybe the router is blocking the port used. -
My ipod touch (model A1213) is not syncing properly. I have updated the software to the latest (2.2.1) and have even resored it. Itunes says it is working and updated but will not sync and apps. Error message says that app will not sync because a newer version needed.
2.2.1 is not the latest available for any ipod touch.

Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:
