Hello !! I am trying to open an old Freehand document with FH11 and it finds an error !!!

Does somebody know how can I solve this problem???????

Please provide full system details to receive specific help. We don't even know your operating system or computer hardware. It makes it difficult to recommend a solution.
But, it's the holiday season. So, I'll bite.
If you're running windows, simply try updating to 11.0.2 if you're not already.
http://www.adobe.com/support/freehand/updaters.html
If you're running a newer mac (intel) and Snow Leopard with  a version of Freehand prior to 11.0.2 you've got several issues to deal with.
I won't bore you with the details. But, in a nutshell you'lll need to install Rosetta (Your computer will offer to do this itself when you try to run the updater), update to 11.0.2, and install the Adobe-provided registration file to enable Freehand to run properly in your operating system.
Updater to get current (11.0.2)

  • How do I open my old Word documents with Lion

I installed Lion and now I can't open my old Word documents.  Any idea how I can do this?

You'll want to get a newer version of Word or Pages so you can open them properly.  It's possible to open them with TextEdit, but the formatting is not going to work out very well.
You can download the latest Pages using the App Store icon on the doc (It looks like an A in a blue circle).
You can download the latest Word by purchasing it from microsoft.com/mac
You might get a better deal buying Microsoft Office 2011 from a retail store, but it's nice to get the software immediately if you need it right away.
Lastly, you could also get OpenOffice by going to openoffice.org  however it all depends on how much you use Word and whether that program will do what you need Word for.  The plus side, is that OpenOffice is free, but the downside is that both Pages and Word provide a more user-friendly environment (in my opinion) and are worth the cost.

Hello m.goo, and a warm welcome to the forums!
To eject the Disc, hold the Mouse button down, (or what passes for it on a Laptop), while powering up, if you also hold the Option key down at the same time it should eject & give you a chance to insert your install disc & wait for it to shw as a Boot option.
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Tiger Mac OS X Install disc , then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, *you must select your language first.)*
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
Then Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.
If it appears to be time for An Archive & Install, which gives you a new OS, but can preserve all your files, APPs, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space...

What version of Pages do you have? Pages 5.2 can not open Pages '08 documents.
Can you reinstall iWork '09 from the original Installer or DVD?:

  • When trying to open a pdf from a shared network folder I get an error

    hello,
When trying to open a pdf from a shared network folder I get the error: 'there was an error opening this document the document cannot be found'. The share is on a Windows 7 machine and sharing to a OS X 10.7 Machine. Permisson has been given on the share for 'Everyone' read and Write, and is mapped to the 10.7 machine through the 'Connect to Server' in finder with login credentials.
    Can you help please?
    Kind regards,
    Chris

This is in Internet Explorer 6 (yes, horrible, I know), but we use a standardized image where I work, with pretty intense GPO's.
Don't know what happens if you right-click the link; but from any other machine (with the same image) the same link will open with all three options "Open", "Save", and "Cancel".  These are not freshly imaged machines, so some setting must of been changed along the way to make this happen on this user's computer.
Repaired Acrobat, but this resolved nothing.
Also checked in IE to make sure that Adobe was enabled under the Programs tab.
Also, the option to view a pdf within the browser is not turned on.
    Any other ideas?

  • I am having serious issues trying to alter my old iCloud account with an old non-functioning email to my new apple id with a new email address. The message keeps coming up on all my apple products with my old email (which is not available anymore).

I am having serious issues trying to alter my old iCloud account with an old non-functioning email to my new apple id with a new email address. The message keeps coming up on all my apple products with my old email (which is not available anymore).

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account.  I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there.  On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back.  Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email.  The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?

Yup, it was uploaded to our school Wiki as a PDF, and Pages did open it.  I was then able to move it to iBooks, but I'd rather avoid the extra steps.

Let's try this first. Hold down the Shift key while you try to launch iTunes. You should eventually see the following dialog:
Click "Choose library". Browse to inside the following location (depending on what operating system you're running):
    Operating System
    Default location of iTunes library
    Microsoft Windows XP
    \Documents and Settings\[your username]\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
    Microsoft Windows Vista
    \Users\[your username]\Music\iTunes\
    Microsoft Windows 7
    \Users\[your username]\My Music\iTunes\
... and open the iTunes library you find in there.

Is there a way of opening up old PSD documents and photos on the iMac please?

.psd (photoshop) files should open in preview to view them and make some simple adjustments.
If you want to edit them but don't want the expense of buying Photoshop (or Elements) for your Mac, consider downloading Gimp - it's free.

    Julian,
Pages simply won't support a table with that many rows. If you need that many, you must use another application.
Perhaps the originator could use a tabbed list rather than a table. That's the only way you will be able to contain a list that long in Pages. You can do the conversion yourself if you open the Word document in LibreOffice, Copy the Table, Paste the Table into Numbers, Export the Numbers doc to CSV, and import to Pages. In Pages Find and Replace the Commas with Tabs.
There are probably other ways, but that's what comes to mind here.

So I've been trying to open some Microsoft Word Documents and it says it can't be opened because PowerPC applications are no longer supported. What do I do about this?

    Workarounds:
    1.  Restore the OS X that you formerly used to run Word 2004;
    2.  Partition your hard drive or attach an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard (and Rosetta) so that you can "dual-boot" into Microsoft Word 2004;
    3.  Upgrade to Word 2011 or use an alternative program; or
    4.  The solution I use: Install Snow Leopard (and Rosetta) into Parallels 7 or 8:

  • I´m trying to open an excel file in numbers not being successful. The error msg is unexpectedly error using plugin SFCompatibility can you help me?

I´m trying to open an excel file in numbers not being successful. The error msg is unexpectedly error using plugin SFCompatibility can you help me? Already changed the extension of the excel document to xlsx an now gives an unknown import error.

In Excel have you tried saving directly to xls (not xlsx) and opening the xls in Numbers?
If you have a complicated workbook in Excel that uses lots of Excel's advanced features, Numbers may not be able to handle the import.  It does pretty well on basic things, though.
If you're just trying to get data into Numbers, then often copy-paste from Excel is easier than trying to open xls files.

I'm trying to open sound effects from the recource page and there's no waveform

What version of Audition are you talking about?  Going from memory, there was a change to how things worked (starting at CS6 maybe?) from their being a "resource centre" to a "Download sound effects and more" link on the help menu.  Exactly where that leaves owners of earlier versions would, I think, be a question for Adobe, not a user forum (though there are some pretty clever people who visit here.

  • Need help opening really old FreeHand files

I have some very old FreeHand files, I'm not sure what
version but probably around v.5 or so. I have all the source files
and fonts and I'd like to reconstruct FreeHand files in version 10
or even 9 if possible. Problem is I can't open the old FreeHand
files through the menu options or by dragging the files onto the
    app icons.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I downloaded FreeHand BNDL
Resources from FreeHandSource.com a while back but they didn't seem
to do anything. Any help is appreciated.

Are you on a Mac? If your version of Freehand can open the
    version the
file was saved as you can open the file by dragging it to the
application icon while holding down the option and apple
    keys.
