RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary.

Yes. Restore with iTunes. That's your only option. You can restore from the iCloud backup after you get the iPad up and running again. You will have to erase the iPad again after restoring. Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings and then start all over again with the iPad.
The iPad fully functions as PC free, but you are still taking a chance if you don't have a computer to use in situations like this. You still have to "repair" with a computer running iTumes. -

Use a friends computer. IF the ipad is telling you to connect to iTunes that is what you need to do, there is no bypassing this. -
I just bought an ipod touch 1st gen, the battery was totally dead, when it was charged enough to turn on I did a total restore. Now there is a picture of the usb cord with the itunes symbol above it. I assume the means it wants me to connect it to itunes but when I do it dosnt show up on the side bar in my itunes. I waited ten min. nothing. Right now I am chaging it using my ipads ac adapter. You are using the USB cable that came with the iPod?

can anyone help me with this. i updated my ipad to ios5, well after a couple of shots at it it finally did it but when restoring all my apps and other stuff it keeps comming up with error messages (-2) and (-20). i have disabled everything on the laptop that could interfere with it but it still comes up. now want to backtrack to ois 4.5 but cant seem to do it. thanks for any help given

Apple software ***** and have done that for a long time. Its unbeliveable that we all time after time will pay so much for all these problems.
I have also an iTouch 3g and and a Philips DMP 580 speaker with dockstation. And my 3g worked perfekt with iOS 4.3.5 in the dockingstation until today where I upgraded to iOS 5.0.
After that I can´t I powerload or use the speakers in the musicsystem anymore.
How can anyone release such a OS if they know anything about programming OS software ?
Its completely madness that we have to spend so much time on something that should have been OK when released :-(
And now I can´t return to my latest iOS 4.3.5 anymore and I can´t find anywhere someone that can tell me how to do downgrade iOS 5.0 to iOS 4.3.5 - if possible !!!

Husbands and my iPhone 4 home button faulty at same time.
My husband I noticed that the home button was unusable at the same time and then started working again at the same time. We both had a good signal and were in the same room. Today the same thing happened didn't work then did around the same time..
I checked with my daughter and her home button has been having problems during the times we have had them too. Does anybody think this is all just coincidental?

My iPad 2 has a hoe button that is not responding constantly. It will either work right away or not respond for up to an hour. I have tried all of the suggestions posted on other questions and it's becoming ridiculous. I have a warranty but am afraid that if I get another iPad 2 the problem will continue on the new one.

If your iPad is defective and is still under warranty, you can take it to an Apple Authorized Repair Center and get it fixed. If you are worried about a defective replacement, then a repair may be a better way to go. <Apple Authorized Repair Centers>
Personally, I would prefer getting a replacement. You read about many defects here in this forum, but they only represent a tiny percentage of all iPads sold.

I set up my iPad 2 on my cousins MacPc, I dont have a computer or iTunes. Can I download my own apps and songs now or do i need to do eveything from his iTunes? Do I need my own iTunes account to get apps? Help I dont really know what or how to do it.
Install iTunes on your Acer and you can back up the iPhone. Or back it up to iCloud. If you do not back it up you can get it unlocked, but you will lose all of your content.
You can get iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes.
Even after unlocking I'm not sure it will work on Straight Talk, because last time I checked ST used Verizon as its carrier, and an AT&T iPhone 4 is not compatible with Verizon's network. You can probably use it on Net 10 or T-Mobile once it is unlocked. -
What type of phone do you have? The most common reason why pic messages don't download is a lack of a data connection or in most cases the phone has the battery saver feature in the on position. Try turning that off in the settings
