Hello I have 2.3 i7 3rd generation Mac mini and it very slow now so Can I change to new 4th generation?? What about ram can I upgrade to 32 GB?? And other thing I want to upgrade everything can I??

The late 2012 Mac mini was/is a preview of the direction Apple is moving with all of their computers including:
elimination of an internal optical drive
the only user replaceable/upgradable internal part is RAM
any and all other expansions are external devices attached via Thunderbolt, Firewire (dropped in the new Mac Pro), or USB
If you want to upgrade you have to buy a newer, more powerful Mac. At the moment that means you cannot "change to the 4th generation" Mac mini because you already have the latest generation. If you want to keep the monitor you are using with your mini I think the new Mac Pro is VERY attractive and the performance should be stunning.
Before you ask, only Tim Cook (Apple CEO) knows for sure when there will be a new Mac mini release, and true to Apple tradition, he isn't talking. Not only that the rules of these Discussions forbid speculation on future releases.

Hi Alxx911, and John Hammer1. After reading John's reply - " You can plug something into it's headphone jack. though" . I thought i'd try out of curiosity. I plugged in some headphones. I didn't expect anything to happen and nothing happened. The audio jack is for the Dell soundbar which is optional.
Here's a direct copy and paste from the users manual: Section About Your Monitor.
Attaching the Soundbar AX510 / AX510PA (Optional) CAUTION: Do not use with any device other than the Dell Soundbar. NOTE: The Soundbar power connector (+12 V DC output) is for the optional Dell Soundbar AX510/AX510PAonly. To attach the Soundbar: 1. Working from the back of the monitor, attach the Soundbar by aligning the two slots with the two tabs along the bottom of the monitor. 2. Slide the Soundbar to the left until it snaps into place. 3. Connectthe Soundbar with the DC power connector. 4. Insert the mini stereo plug from the back of the Soundbar into the computerís audio output jack. For HDMI/DP, you can insert the mini stereo plug into the monitorís audio output port. If there is no sound, check your PC if the Audio output is configured to HDMI/DP output.
This monitor has no speakers. (Like John Hammer1 mentioned). The no speakers feature was one of the reasons I chose this monitor.

If you are using an HDMI connection, go to Apple / System Preferences / Sound and see if you can select the Built-In Speakers?
If you have headphones, buds or something plugged into the Audio Output jack, unplug it.
If not then perhaps the micro switch inside the Audio Output jack is stuck? In that case, try plugging and unplugging some headphones, buds or something in and out a few times to see if it will un-stick.
If it will not un-stick, then you will need to make an appointment for service.

Again, that's not a problem - if you purchase Mountain Lion through the App Store, it's been updated to 10.8.2 - and when there are other updates available, you can just download and install them as well.
Just go to the App Store and purchase and install ML. Then run Software Update (Apple menu) to see if there are any updates available for your machine. I keep my System Preferences>Software Update prefs set to check automatically -
Some people would rather check manually. No big deal, just buy it and install it.

My video consists of 1 volt composite (from a video switcher), and the audio is full stereo at 600 ohm line level on each channel. What do I need?
I have a video capture card on my Windows machine; but the results have been crappy at best. And the so-called "Geek Squad" at Best Buy (where I bought the Mac Mini) have been less than helpfull. Further, the on-line Apple Store shows nothing. Maybe someone here has an idea.

I have just updated my mac mini and am considering selling the old one.

My question is:
My old Mini came with Leopard 10.5.2 and I want to set it up with a clean install of Snow Leopard 10.6.3 from a retail disk and update from there to 10.6.8, so that I can sell it.
Can anyone tell me if I can reinstall the application bundles that came with the mini (iLife etc) from the original grey disks after re-installing Snow Leopard or do I have to install Leopard and upgrade to Snow Leopard afterwards.
Any info much appreciated.

Suppose that would be better, I was thinking that I need to keep my SL Disk for my Macbook which I don't have a restore disk for, however as I have both time machine and a bootable back up and a bootable USB SL Drive for it, I don't really need the SL Disk any more.
Allows me to spend more time on the new one getting it how I wan't it.

Many people are happy with OS X 10.5.8 but since you have an Intel Mac it is well worth upgrading to Snow Leopard now and then considering other options after that.

I'm gifting a Mac mini and I want to know if I can upgrade the ram before it is ever started up?

I'd like to upgrade the RAM in this Mac mini I'm gifting before it give it away. I don't want to start it up and set it up under my own specs. I'd like them to enjoy that process. Can I just open it up and pop in the new RAM, or would it affect to little guy?

Have you already bought the Mini? If not have the Ram installed by Apple before you pick it up.

Because iOS and Mac OS X software isn't cross-compatible. If you're going to the iTunes App Store and not the Mac App Store, none of your purchases on other devices will be listed there unless you put them onto the new computer.
