Hello, i have a hp pavilion dv5 laptop and my mouse has started to close tabs instead of open them.

No error message
Unsure about upgrades (my laptop constantly has a message about some update or another. Every time I turn it on it starts to try an update)
Recently my mouse pad has begun to malfunction. When I hover my mouse over a tab in an internet browser and click the tab to open, my computer closes the tab instead. I have tried turning the mouse pad off and on again as well as restarting the laptop to try and resolve the issue. I have tried clicking on different parts of the tab as well, making sure that I am as far away from the "x" as possible and the tab still closes. Please help.

It appears to problem with my mouse is isolated to Google Chrome. Firefox appears to be working normally with my mouse.

Open your Displays system preferences. Is there an Arrangement tab and does it show two screens? If no Arrangement tab then your mac does not know it has two screens. Maybe smc and pram reset will shake it free and maybe not. Maybe there's something wrong with the connection. Yes, it is the discs that are the problem - you will need to use good quality DVD+R or DVD-R discs. See the section under the sub-heading 'Create a set of operating system Recovery Discs' on the link below.

To better guide you, could you please give me the full model number or product number of your Notebook and the operating system that is currently running on it. Hello I Have an HP Pavilion G7 but I can't find a model # for it. Its not by the screen or on the bottom and also when I go to my computer and propertys It doesnt say it there any one know where I can find this ?
I want to know because I would like to upgrade my processer from an i3-2350m to an i7 if possable and I want to upgrade my memory from 6 to 8 or 16if possable so I can use it for basic recording. I dont want to spend an arm and a leg on a new computer for basic recording. becasue I already have a desktop recording computer and I want to make this one in to a moble station. First thing to try is a hard reset. Remove the battery and power supply. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Wait another 30 seconds. Now plug in the power supply. Then try to start the computer. Let us know if that works. If not, we need to start thinking about hardware issues.

If it won't boot from the Hard Drive or Optical Drive, you may well have a fault with the Sata Controller on the Motherboard - at the end of the day, by far your best option as your notebook is still under warranty, is to contact HP and arrange for it to be repaired.

I have a Model - MacBook Pro Laptop and the screen recently turned the colour grey, giving me no visibility or access to the unit.
Has anyone had or seen this problem before? Can it be fixed? I had a repair guy from my local Mac Store take a look at it - he said I needed a whole new screen and top of the computer, but this didn't fix the problem. I took the unit home unrepaired, and a week later it was all of a sudden working fine.
What is happening with my Laptop? Once this happens (grey screen) does it mean that it's going to become a chronic problem?

It's kind of difficult to diagnosis your problem without a visual clue, because there is a (mostly) software based "gray screen" at boot issue.
But if you got the screen replaced, took it home and now it works, why the repair shop didn't get it working before it left the store is beyond me.
Unless the repair shop is a authorized apple reseller/repair, I wouldn't have taken it to them, and of you did, they should have fixed the issue right away.

Hi I have a HP Pavilion Dv4 laptop computer. My E:\ CDDVDW TS-L633M cd drive has stopped working. When I insert a new CD or an exiting cd into the cd drive, the computer displays a message to insert a cd into the drive. i Know that the cd that I'm inserting into the drive should be readable, but the computer doesn't recognize it. When I run the HP support assistant, and choose the HP Optical Disc Drive Check, I get the message "Insert media in : E:\ hp CDDVDW TS-L633M
If you want to do write testing, insert blank writeable media, Otherwise, read-only testing will be performed. When I insert a disk with a program that I want to install on the computer into the cd drive and click the next button, I get a window that says:
"Media Identification:
Wait while the media is being Identified."
Then another window is displayed with the message:
"Media Identification
No disc has been detected."
But I know that the disk is formatted correctly for my cd reader to recognize it.

First, try the automated fixit from Microsoft on the link below.
Windows 7
Vista
Check if the drive is now working.
If the drive is not working, click the Start Menu, open the Control Panel and click on Device Manager. Next click to open DVD/CD-ROM Drives. Right click the drive and select uninstall. Do not delete drivers if asked. When the device has uninstalled click on the 'Scan for Hardware Changes' icon ( usually just below Help on the toolbar ). Let windows reinstall the drive and see if it now works.
