Hello, i have a macbook pro 15 inches, for the past 1 year. But since then i have been experiencing weird problems. firstly my battery does not last very long, my laptop heats up a lot and very fast,the cursor behaves oddly and the screen changes onitsown
The screen changes on it's own, the cursor gets stuck on a word and gets me the meaning of it with a dictionary. if i am on google chrome, the screen would go back to the previous page i visited even without i do anything! it also goes on the launchpad and desktop without me touching it! with no hands on the board. i am a student and i cant figure out the problem. i would really appreciate if anyone could help me on this asap!

This depends on the person. Some people's brain just seems to find any distraction on the glass intolerable. I have always used glossy screens on the Mac portables and have never had an issue with overhead lights and even using it outdoors. When I received a matte screen by accident from work I thought it was terrible compared to the glossy. The entire screen looks washed out (since there is an entire layer of material on top of the glass that does not exist on the glossy). The retina version of the glossy display is also noticeably less reflective then the non retina glossy displays. -

hi can anyone help please ? i have had apple products now for apron 7 years BUT have never been able to make the bluetooth work , not even when 2 products i.e. : phone and iPod are in the same room. So i stopped trying but would like to set it up between my iMac and iphone / ipad but can't get it to work, they say discoverable but just will not connect to one another. I also tried the connection code and tried without one ... NO JOY ... Is this common or am i a twit ?
You can't connect an iPhone or iPad to a Mac via Bluetooth, except for Internet tethering.
You're not doing anything wrong - it just isn't a feature of iOS devices.
What were you hoping a Bluetooth connection would allow you to do? -

I tried to reset settings but it didn't seem to help much. Then I read a few posts about deleting my email accounts and recreating them, and that actually seemed to help a bit. Now the only time I notice it gets heated up is when I am either on whatsapp or Instagram...that's it! -
I want to change the location of my MacBook Pro. I live in Mexico but I want to have it located in the US so I can access certain sites.
I have no idea if it's legal or not, but you could use a proxy software to "spoof" your location.

I want to set up the Time Machine and I would love to use the Time
Capsule but since I already have a wireless router I need suggestions on

A complication that I need to resolve is the fact that I am using Vmware
Fusion to be able to use Windows on my Mac. Now it seems that Time
Machine is not backing up my files
on that virtual Windows without additional configuration and my question
is whether you can advise me here or whether this is only a matter for
the Fusion virtual machine.If you want to use Time Capsule you can.. you simply bridge it and plug it into the existing router.. wireless can be either turned off or used to reinforce the existing wireless.. eg use 5ghz in the TC which is much faster than your 2.4ghz.
You can also use a NAS.. many brands available but the top brands are synology, qnap and netgear readynas series. These will all do Time Machine backups although how well always depends on Apple sticking to a standard. There are cheaper ones.. I bought a single disk zyxel which was rebadged and sold through my local supermarket. It actually works very well for TM at least on Snow Leopard. Major changes were made in Lion and again ML so do not instantly think it will work on later versions. I haven't tried it yet with those versions.
Any external drive can be plugged into the mac. Use the one with the fastest connection or cheapest price according to your budget. USB2 drives are cheap and plentiful. But no where near as fast as USB3 or FW800. So just pick whichever suits the ports on your Mac. Interesting Apple finally moved to USB3 on their latest computers.
TM should exclude the VM partition file.. it is useless backing it up from Mac OS side.. and will slow TM as it needs to backup that partition everyday for no purpose.. TM cannot see the files inside it to backup just the changes.
You need to backup windows from windows. Use MSbackup to external drive.. if you have pro or ultimate versions you can backup to network drive. But MSbackup is a dog.. at least until the latest version it cannot restore the partition without first loading windows. There are about a zillion backup software versions for windows.. look up reviews and buy one which works for you. I use a free one Macrium Reflect which does full disk backups and is easy to restore.. to do incremental backups though you have to pay for it. -
I'm in trouble, my iPod Touch is giving 4th shock when recharge and the battery does not last any more. who knows or has a similar problem, please help me. Note: all this after I downloaded the new version OS5.
I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store because of the shock issue. I doubt it was caused by the update.

You do not have a very large sample, you have ONE drive. Anything that happens, from having it run for twenty years to having it die on the first day, is within the normal range.
The rapid resolution to your problem IS to replace the drive. At your leisure, you may find that after re-writing every block with Zeroes (a process that can take half a day and has no guarantee of success) enough spare blocks can be found to return the drive to service. Or maybe not. If you are willing to invest the time and energy to do this, you may get a nice backup drive, or you may get a doorstop. No one can predict ahead of time. -
So all the bookmarks I've "bookmarked" for the past year are just gone - I don't understand why Firefox just doesn't automatically save every bookmark you make each session & put them in a place so you can organize them ... maybe there's some extra step you can take every session to force firefox to do this - I don't know what that is - but am also a bit aggravated that there has to be an extra step to do this - Internet Explorer just auto saves everything you bookmark, why can't Firefox - I see this as a big disadvantage to Firefox that needs to be made much simpler ... I have a mac, how do I go back & retrieve everything I've ever bookmarked on Firefox?

And btw the articles on lost bookmarks, saving bookmarks, etc. - were not helpful at all. Very not helpful. Almost anti-helpful.
I generally like Firefox & use it all the time, but this one area as to bookmarks is very frustrating & causing me to seriously consider not using Firefox at all & switching back to Internet Explorer or another browser like Google Chrome. What's the point of bookmarking something (which by itself indicates you are wanting to save the site link so you can re-find & re-visit it in the future) if Firefox just auto deletes all your bookmarking everytime it starts up? Just a completely user-unfriendly idea.A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

It is recommended to charge the Reader using the supplied AC Adapter. When using the AC adapter to charge your Reader device, the lightning bolt symbol that appears next to the battery icon [FIG. 1] on the display of your Reader device is an indication that it is connected to AC power and is charging the battery properly. If the lightning bolt symbol is not present, double check the AC Adapter to ensure that your Reader device is properly connected. This symbol does not appear while charging via a USB connection.
If you charge via a USB connection and leave your Reader Digital Book connected to the computer to charge and the computer goes into sleep/hibernation, charging will stop and the red charge indicator on the Reader will turn off. If left connected, your battery may begin to discharge. To avoid this, turn off any sleep/hibernation settings while charging or set your sleep or hibernation settings to come on after your Reader Digital Book has been charged and then disconnect it from the computer once charging has completed.
It will take approximately 4 hours to achieve a full charge with a computer. It will take approximately 2 hours to achieve a full charge with the optional AC Adapter.
If your Reader Digital Book is left connected to a powered USB hub while the computer is shut down, your battery may begin to discharge. Disconnect your Reader from the hub when the computer is not powered on.
Always verify that your Reader is fully charged by disconnecting it from the computer and checking the battery indicator. The battery indicator will display 4 black bars when it is fully charged
On a full charge, the battery has the capability of up to 7,500 continuous page turns. Actual battery life will vary based on usage patterns, settings and battery conditions. When the Reader is turned on, off, or a page is marked, battery power is used, thus lowering the expected battery life.
NOTE: When storing the Reader for a long period of time, use the Device Shutdown feature in the Advanced settings menu. After using Device Shutdown, it may take approximately 30 seconds for the Reader to start the next time the Reader is turned on.
Playing audio will reduce the battery life. If you did not start audio play back intentionally, confirm audio is not playing. You will not hear playback unless headphones are connected. Audio playback will continue until it is stopped by turning it off from the Now Playing menu. To see if audio is playing, press the HOME button and then press the OPTION button. If Now Playing is displayed in the dialogue box that appears, tap Now Playing and this will take you to the song that is playing. Press the Pause button to stop playback of that song and then press the HOME button.

Due to the nature of the E Ink electronic display technology, the LCD can retain an image without having power. Turning the page is the only time power is consumed. If the Reader's power is drained, the LCD will retain the last image that was displayed, thus making it appear like the Reader is frozen and in some instances it will not have enough power to perform other operations such as turning on or off.
Battery life can be affected by operating temperatures below 41 degrees F, lack of use, or if the battery has not been given enough time to fully charge.
As with any battery, if the Reader is stored for an extended period of time, the battery will discharge on it's own. Therefore, it may be necessary to charge the battery prior to use.
If the Reader has not been used for an extended period of time, repeatedly charging and discharging will improve the efficiency of the battery.
If the battery life still seems short, the battery may need to be replaced. -
I have just updated my iphone 4 to OS 6.0, but since then I can't access my emails as when trying to open a particular email I am presented with a blank screen. Other apps such as facebook and ebay take an absolute age to open.
Is anyone else having problems? what can I do to put it right?I am having this problem. At first with the new iPhone 5, and then with the iPad 2. I am not sure why this is happening.
My gut feeling is this is an iO6 issue and here's why -
The problem mainly occurs with apps. I have about 150 apps, and when I plugged in the phone, iTunes went to sync all of them. The process would hang up after about 20 - 30 apps were loaded onto the phone. I could tell where about the process hung up because the apps on the phone showed up as "waiting".
Then on the iPad 2 I plugged in to sync and saw there was a huge "Other" component in my storage. It required me to restore the iPad 2 from backup. With this restore the same issues occurred - putting the apps back on the iPad would hang up. The videos on the iPad also got stuck - maybe after about 10 hours of videos transfered iTunes crashed.
My solution has been to soft reset the device, restart Windows, and continue the process until it's complete. This is remarkably inefficient and time-intensive but everything works with patience.
I have been wondering if others have had these same problems. -
MMy Ipad was a gift from my wife years ago...an ipad 2 I believe. It originally was registered in her name and email so it was a suprise...I have since gotten most everything switched to my own Apple id account.My problem is with the iCloud...it still pops up asking me to log in...its still in my wife's name with a long defunct email address.No one remembers the password.How can I switch this to my current iCloud account or delegate this old iCloud id entirely without a password?

If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact Apple ID Support, upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
You will need to show patience with the procedure and be prepared to demonstrate without question that the account belongs to you. Don’t expect access to be restored immediately and if you aren’t the owner of the Apple ID registered to the device the account won’t be reset.
