Note that these features require you have the "Find My" activated before you lose the device, the device be turned on and able to connect to a registered wifi connection (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch) or data network (iPhone, iPad), and not having been restored by a finder of the device (if it was really stolen then the thief has probably restored it). Frankly in the case of a stolen phone this almost never works. Report it to the police. Change passwords on accounts. Tell your carrier to stop service. Go shopping for a new phone.

You can get your IMEI through iTunes, assuming you have backed up your iPhone using iTunes.
Open iTunes' preferences (under iTunes in the menu bar). Choose the "Devices" tab, and hover your cursor over the iPhone entry. The IMEI will appear.
I suspect knowing the IMEI will not do you a whole lot of good, but for what it's worth ... that's how to get it. -

If you set up "find my iphone" and it is powered on with an internet connection you can go to icloud.com and use find my iphone there or on another iOS device download the Find my iPhone app.

Excuse me apple I had the police nock on my door about an iPad that was located at our house and the owner lost the iPad in-between bowral nsw and Sydney can you please fix the app (Find My IPhone) so that person can find their iPad coz the police would of taken mine if I did not show proof of purchase
You are not communicating with Apple by posting here. Everyone here is just a fellow user and cannot fix anything.
The Find My iPad service may have indeed been accurate to the limits of the technology. Unless the iPad was a 3G unit, location is determined based on the nearest WiFi router which in your case could just happened to have been yours. The police may be the ones who need to "fix" their understanding of how the technology works and its limitations.

There is some, but not much, good wisdom out there, but it takes a significant amount of experience to be able to recognize it. Log into icloud.com and go to the Find My iPhone section. If you did not set up Find My iPhone, check with your cell carrier. Some carriers offer their own tracking service, though you usually have to pay for it.
If your carrier does not offer such a service and you did not set up Find My iPhone, then there is no way to track the unit. Contact the police and change any passwords for any online accounts you may have used from your iPhone (the iTunes Store, for instance).

Hello, my Ipad was stolen about a week ago, I activated the "find my iPhone" app, however it says my Ipad is offline since the day it was stolen, does anyone know…:
1. Is there another way I can track its location, or more importantly have the information stored on my Ipad erased ASAP?
2. Taking into consideration I blocked the iPad using the find my iPhone app, is there anyway the iPad can be used? Can someone erase all the data, my itunes account, reset all settings etc.? before connecting online?
3. How can I recover my photos? I already signed in to icloud on my PC and I have no "Photo" icon, does this mean that they are lost?

If you didn't enable the Find My iPhone function, then you can't track the iPhone. But it sounds like you did have it turned on, if you're seeing that it's listed in the Find My iPhone app or on icloud.com. But are you sure it's the same device? If you had a previous iPhone, and the name of both iPhones was the same, it would make it difficult to know which phone was which, even if they both were listed.
In any event, an offline device is not trackable. It could be offline because A) it has no power or B) it is not connected to the internet via cellular data or wi-fi.
Until it comes back online (and it may never), then it cannot be remotely tracked. -
