How do I store my library in Icloud to free up space..and not lose the music,ect and when I do this will I still have a listing of content to pick from.

I have this same question. If I subscribe to iTunes match, does the content then get removed from the start up disk? I have the same space issue as don64.

You can call Apple Support and they will help you.

The library itself is the /Home/Music/iTunes/ folder in its entirety. Did you also change where preference files were stored? Normally, they would be in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.

My computer died. how do I retrieve my itunes library if i back up my phone to the cloud daily?

My pc crashed. When I access my iTunes account, the only music in my library is the music I purchased from Apple. I had music purchased from other sites and also music ripped from CDs. I back up my phone to iCloud daily. Can I restore my iTunes library from this backup? if so - how? I would try to restore from my phone but I'm afraid that I'll lose all my content.

Only songs that were purchased from the iTunes Store can be moved from your iPhone to a new computer. See this article for reference -

Could somebody please give me click-by-click instructions on how to COPY my iTunes library onto my iPod Classic (using it as an external disc) so I can take it over to Mom's computer and download it as a backup.(She has dial-up, so no I don't want to download iTunes on her computer
We both have Windows XP, and I have plenty of space on my iPod for the transfer. Also, how long would it take to transfer about 11G of tunes!!

Thanks Plan...the info was great, till I got to the part about copying the "library". I have about 7G of space on my computer, so I don't have the space to do that.
And Chris, your idea sounds great, but with the problem above, is it possible to copy the whole "she-bang" as it were. Meaning the program AND its contents onto my ipod and downloading it on Mom's computer....plenty of space on the ipod!!

Is the iPod still singed into the account isn Settings>iTunes and App Stores and SettingsZ>iCloudl? If it is then I would not be concerned.

For the other "problem", go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says Prevent iPod....automatically syncing.

Thank you Joe - I tried this but it's only showing a teensy amount of music - the stuff on the second users account as opposed to the giagntic library on the 'main' account. I actually went to a Genius Bar and they said that apple doesn't really want you to share music between accounts - parents don't want to hear their kids music etc. Which seemed strange, but it might be the case sadly Thanks anyway!

Thank you for responding to my problem so promptly. Frankly, I did not expect to hear from people so soon! The fact is that as soon as I posted the question, I was shown a number of similar queries and managed to find the answer. I have to say it's not intuitive! I have an apple TV original version. Apparently I had the ATV on streaming and not syncing. Streaming does not allow you to stream a rental from your computer whereas you can sync and transfer the rental from the computer!

Ipod touch not being recognized by itunes (but is registering as an external drive by the computer itself) have updated and reinstalled itunes, stopped/started apple mobile device and removed any mobile programs associated with my non apple cellphone. This seems to have started happening after the last Itunes update I did as I was able to put music on my ipod touch a month or so ago. Is there some way to go back to an older version of itunes? I really have no idea what else to do since I followed every step on the trouble shooting page for windows 8.

I had this problem too and my roommate solved it!
Go to 'Settings'
'Music'
Scroll to the bottom and enter your password to log onto your home sharing
Then connect to iTunes and sync!
