Hello, I recently signed up for CC. An immediate family member had downloaded a trial version (now expired) of the CS6 Master Collection on the family pc (using her adobe id). Can I convert this to 'licensed' using my id?

Sometimes a quick fix is to, close all apps, launch the Adobe Application Manager (from the Start Menu or Applications folder) and sign out and then launch one of the apps and sign in with your Adobe ID using the "License this software" button.
Might test that when you get the chance.

Please ensure that you are using Adobe Acrobat and not Reader to convert PDF file to word or excel.
Could you tell me whether it is a scanned document? Does this happen with all PDFs or any specific one?
Do you get any error message? What exactly happens when you try doing the same?

Now, when I launch Lightroom, my choices are to enter a serial number to continue the trial. On the adobe website, it says "You can convert your trial to a Creative Cloud complete or single-app membership by purchasing on the Creative Cloud website. After you purchase your membership, your desktop product trial will automatically be licensed upon relaunch." But this is not the case. I do not want to risk losing my catalog and the work I have already done in Lightroom, so what should I do?

There is no serial number and you don't need one. What you need for a subscription is to SIGN IN within Acrobat, so it knows the subscriptions you own.

I think it means "the sliders are all 0 so painting adjustments with this brush won't change anything." In other words, move one of the sliders to a non-zero position, for example Exposure from 0 to 1.0, and then see what happens. You can edit the brush and change it to do something other than Exposure +1.

It's a hassle every time that I want to go to one of those sites I have to type it in the search bar, instead of just clicking on it as I did before. You can press the F10 key or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily in case this bar is hidden (View > Toolbars or Firefox > Options).
The Navigation Toolbar shows the Back and forward button and the input field where you type the address of a site that you want to visit (aka location bar) and also has a search bar where you can type items that you want to look up with a search engine (Google).
