Hello, my apple wireless keyboard is showing mission control when I press C, D, E, 3 or F3. I've tried resetting settings but it still does it!

I have a 27 inch iMac, Mid 2011 fully updated running OS X 10.8.4.

Hey all,
As with most of you, I'm experiencing the same issues with both my mouse and keyboard not pairing after changing batteries. I spoke with my tech guy at work and he knows of the problem and told me how to fix it - which I tried but couldn't do it. So I brought them into work and gave then to my tech guy just to see if they would pair with another Mac G5. He was having the same problem but was able to get them to pair. This is what he did -
1. Ran the BT set up.
2. When he made it to the enter passkey and typed in the PK but it didn't work, he would hit the continue button, turn the keyboard off/on super fast and retype in the PK.
After a few times, it worked. He also suggested pulling the batteries out and placing them back in in the middle of the process. He doesn't know why this works other then saying "it's finicky".
Just one other note. He got my mouse to connect with no problem. I couldn't at home. I'm writing this at work and will try this solution tonight and let everyone know if it works for me.
Hope this helps

I sprayed it a year ago i really like the keyboard and i really need it can it be recovered??? My apple wireless keyboard got wet a year ago i sprayed the cleaning spray on it some of the keys are working but some of the keys aren"t working. it got sprayed a year ago What should i do??? Can it be recovered plz tell?

There is almost no chance it can be recovered, except at a cost far greater than a new keyboard.  Once wet, spraying with a cleaner will not do any good and most likely will make the situation worse.
Best thing at this point is go to your Apple store, or the on-line store, and buy a new keyboard.  Water damage is not covered by the warranty or AppleCare.

You need to either reset the rescue email address's password(check the site's help for instructions) or ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard is lagging and disconnecting when using Macbook Pro via Bootcamp

    Hey guys,
I am using my Macbook Pro (I think from 2009) with an external monitor and the apple wireless keyboard (connection via Bluetooth).
First when I set up Bootcamp everything worked fine. But now suddenly the keyboard is lagging (letters sometimes appear after a few seconds or get stuck and typed 20 times or something) and randomly completely disconnecting.
I already downloaded the newest drivers for Boot Camp 64bit from the apple website, but this didnt solve my problem.
I tried disconnecting the keyboard on mac and then reconnecting on the Windows 7 partition again. Also didn't work.
Of course I had to reconnect the keyboard when on the mac.
But it's not that it's not working. I'm using the keyboard via Bootcamp right now. It's just that it's randomly doing this...
Now I don't know what to do. Do some of you have the same issues or have any ideas that might help?

  • Constant Problems with Apple Wireless Keyboard & Mighty Mouse

My Apple Wireless keyboard constantly loses its connection with my Mac Mini (I have brand new batteries and the latest firmware update) but it is sitting directly in front of it!
I can get it to work when I go to sys. pref., delete the keyboard, and start the set up assistant. However, once I get the keyboard working this way the Mighty Mouse beings to move insanely slow!
Please help me, I bought these two products because they were directly from Apple and I just assumed they would work great with my computer.
    Thanks

    Hello craig:
If you are near an Apple store, take both products in - they can test them there. If you are not near a store, call Applecare (since your products are still in the one year warranty). They may replace one or both.
A third possibility (one you do not wish to hear) would be the BT module itself having a problem.

  • Key fn + Backspace does not work with apple wireless keyboard

    Hello,
I want to user the WIndows Key DEL. However, the apple wireless keyboard dosn't have such a key. I read, that FN + Backspace will solve this. It does not work on my apple wireless keyboard. I'm using BootCamp 3.2 and WIndows XP, running on a Mac Mini 2010.
In addition, I also read, that FN + Cursor Left sould work like POS1. But this doesn't work, too.
Windows shows for the keyboard: Deutsch (Apple)

    Hi mate,
    This worked for me:

    Hello,
I believe that when you plug in the USB keyboard, that one should control the device.
However, why not either unpaid or turn the Bluetooth device off?

  • Windows 7 Blue Screen of Death from Apple Wireless Keyboard?

I've installed Windows 7 with Boot Camp 3.0 drivers on my Mac mini, and I suppose overall, I'm enjoying it. However, I'm getting a blue screen that seems almost random. Keyword is almost.
I've got my Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mighty Mouse paired, and they're both working well, however, I do believe I am getting some blue screens from my wireless keyboard.
It seems, at random intervals (usually when I haven't touched the keyboard and mouse for awhile) I get an IRQL blue screen and no information about what's exactly causing it. For example, if I'm sitting in the other room listening to music for awhile, and I come back and press the "next" media button on my keyboard, it'll crash and give me the blue screen. However, I've also tried pressing another random button (shift) to "wake" the keyboard if it had fallen asleep, which also results in a blue screen. The blue screens ONLY show up when I give input via the wireless keyboard. Or, if I leave the computer on overnight to download a file or something, the screen will sleep (which it should) then I'll press a button on the keyboard, the screen will stay asleep, and the computer will restart. Which is just a hidden blue screen I'm assuming.
I've tried reinstalling Windows (Clean/fresh install of course), installing/uninstalling drivers, pairing and re-pairing. I've also removed unnecessary/non-Windows 7 drivers that were installed with Boot Camp.
Outside of this blue screen, I am quite impressed with Windows 7. I just can't figure out what's going on. Is there any place I can get a description of what's causing this crash? Does anyone know what's happening or know a solution to this?
Thanks in advance, if you need more details, please ask.

Experiencing exactly the same symptoms, bugcheck/bluescreen only when touching the Apple wireless keyboard after a period of inactivity.
I have an 20" iMac, just upgraded Leopard -> Snow Leopard latest minor version and updated to Boot Camp 3.1 hoping they provided a fix, but the driver at fault (keymagic.sys) doesn't look updated and the issue is still there
Hopefully someone from Apple dev support is reading this, here's all the info I could squeeze from the crash dump:

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard on Mac Mini Core Solo CANNOT be found !

    Hi,
My Apple Wireless Keyboard (non-aluminum)was working perfectly with my Mac Mini core Solo. I had to change the battery and after that I cannot connect to my Mac Mini.
    I tried:
    1. Update the Bluetooth software (from the downloads from Apple.com).
    2. Remove all the keyboard definitions in the System Preferences, Bluetooth.
    3. When I try to connect by selecting Keyboard in the Bluetooth Assistant, I won't get any device.
    4. When I try to connect to any device in the Bluetooth Assistent, I'll see the only Apple Wireless Keyboard I have, but then pairing failes.
    5. Only by using a USB keyboard I could enter my MacMini.
    Questions:
    a. How all of a sudden this can't work ?
    b. How to I "reset" the keyboard ?
    c. What can I do ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Rokesh

i am having this exact same problem. Keyboard isnt seen if I select "Keyboard" in the bluetooth setup assistant, but if I select "Any Device" then after a moment "Apple Wireless Keyboard" shows up in the device list but it will refuse to pair, saying it doesnt have any configurable services.
Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How do I get forward delete to work on a PC w/ an Apple Wireless Keyboard?

    Hello,
I have successfully connected an Apple Wireless Keyboard to my Toshiba Portege laptop which is running Windows Vista. The keyboard is working fine but my laptop won't recognize the 'fn+delete' command to execute a forward delete. I've searched quite a bit online but I can't figure out how to replicate the forward delete functionality, which I use all the time, with my Apple Wireless Keyboard. Anyone have suggestions or ideas about other key combinations which may work or mapping software I can use on my laptop to get this done? Thanks very much!
    JK

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard with Windows 7 on non Apple Hardware

    Good Day,
I love the Apple Wireless Keyboard and it's the on I use when using my Thinkpad laptop as a desktop, meaning connected to an external Monitor and with an external keyboard and mouse. The Keyboard I use is an Apple Wireless Keyboard.
On my MBA 13 I use Windows 7 as my OS and the Apple lyouted keyboard works actually quite well with windows: The function keys perform very much like in Mac OSX with the volume, screen brightness, the fn+left or right for "home" or "end" etc.
Not I bought an Apple Wireless Keyboard to use in conjuction with my Thinkpad but all does features are missing. I guess that this has to to that on the MBA 13 the appropriate drivers where installed when the whole Bootcamp Software package was installed.
Since I obviously cant install the whole Bootcamp CD on non Apple Hardware, is there any way to just download somewhere the drivers for Apple KEyboards so the behave the same way as they would on a Mac running Windows?
Or is there any other way I could use my Apple Wireless Keyboard with non Apple Hardware the same way it behaves on my MBA 13 running Windows 7? Can somwhere lolely the Apple Keyboard drivers be downloaded?
I want to thank anyone who is kind enough to help mme with this mather in advance and please leave out comments of the kind that I it's my fault, I should have bought an Apple machine from the beginning. I have my reasons and If anyone can't handle that I kindly ask you to just ignore this post unless it's constructive and helpful contribution

After 3 frustrating hours of trying every tip on the net, I found the answer: Try this.
"This finally fixed it for me: Device Manager - Open System Devices, you will find a Bluetooth HID Device. Double Click it, open Driver tab and click "Update Driver" Select Browse my Computer, then "Let me Pick". It should now show TWO compatible drivers with exactly the same name. One of them is the Microsoft one, one is the non-working Chinese ****. Install one of them and see if the driver properties changed to the right (Microsoft) driver. If not, try again with the other one. For me, the Microsoft driver was the first one in the list, but this may be different for you. Wow, an annoying and intense hour of trouble shooting finally over..."

The issue is related to the Chinese version of the driver that the latest windows update applies that stops the keyboard from working.

  • Unable to pair Apple Wireless Keyboard in OS X 10.5.8

    Hello everyone,
This is my first post here so if I mess it up, pls don't dog me too much...
I'm currently running OS X Tiger on a Dual PowerMac G5 2GHz with 3GB of RAM and all is well with the world. However, in an attempt to upgrade and become familar (more so) with OS X10.5 I've found that I am unable to pair with my wireless keyboard. I'm running 10.5 on a seperate drive. It sees the dongle, just won't pair with it. The Bluetooth dongle I'm using works fine in OS X 10.4.11, has for years. Any clues, is there something I'm missing?
I've read about Bluetooth issues with Leopard so I thought I would see if i could find an answer here. The keyboard is the original Apple wireless keyboard that came out a few years ago, Model M9270LL/A.

I don't think you're following me very well Mr Williams. I appreciate your attempt to assist and hopefully I won't come across as an **** here but, you're not helping. I will agree you, it seems to be a software issue...and it's called Leopard!
Let me explain something. I have not migrated this system, as per se, and for obvious reasons. The system has 2 HDD's. One has 10.4.11 on it and the other HDD has 10.5.8 installed. I can go from one to the other and it's the way I will continue to work until this problem has been resoved, if ever. I can NOT be productive without the Mac running, regardless of which OS. I'm attempting this because I have apps that must have Leopard, so I'm trying to make it work.
Just to be clear, I gave-up running OS X 10.3 several years ago but did not do so without kicking and screaming the entire way. Now, I'm comfortable with Tiger and I'm very glad I upgraded, as it's a much more stable OS but at this rate I'm about ready to give-up. I don't need Leopard and I don't want it, nor do I like the look and feel of it, I just wanted to try and attempt to upgrade and see if I could run some newer apps that won't run on Tiger. I will probably NEVER upgrade to an Intel Mac, even if I could afford to do so. And I will NEVER run Micro$oft Windoze on a Macintosh...period - EVER! That to me is just sacrilege...so just call me a purist, I care not. If I want to run that OS I'll do it on a PeeCee.
    Back to the dicussion.
I'm typing this reply on the PowerMac running 10.4.11 using the keyboard in question and my Bluetooth dongle. And YES, the keyboard is the older, white keyboard. Did I not share the model # in the original post, Apple Keyboard model M9270LL/A ? Did you not Google that if you're not familiar with these Model numbers?
You said, "...Another thought: did you "unpair" the keyboard from the old system before trying to pair it with the new one?..." What exactly does that mean? That's makes no sense at all. "Can you "see" the keyboard in the bluetooth setup window when trying to set it up or not?" What does my original post say?? YES, I can see the keyboard in OS X 10.5.8, I just can not pair with it.
As a last resort I have installed the Apple Aluminum Keyboard Update, as per your suggestion, even though I don't have an aluminium keyboard and this 'update' installed successfully but my keyboard, although seen will still not pair with the dongle. I will NOT go buy a Al Keyboard just to test this issue. The only thing I've thought about purchasing is the Bluetooth module so that I don't need to use a dongle, but those are expensive and often hard to find. I have also removed the prefs file from /user/Library with no effect.
I almost forgot. I also have another BT dingle from Kensington and although the system sees it as does the other, it does not pair with the keyboard either. That dongle works fine on my PeeCee laptop without any problems, so both dongles are functioning correctly. Do you have any other suggestions you would like to share?
    Thank you for your time.

  • New apple wireless keyboard doesn't work after upgrade to leopard on mini

I am posting this because I have not seen anybody else post this issue, but it is fixed at this point.
I installed the new apple ultra slim wireless keyboard on my mac mini about a month ago...was working great...until I upgraded to Leopard. The keyboard would connect, and the esc, function, and arrow keys would work great. However, none of the letter, number, or enter keys would work. This was all observed using the 'show keyboard viewer', which is accessible by allowing 'show input menu in menu bar' from the 'international' system preference pane.
I rebooted many times and even updated to the latest leopard patch set.
During this whole time, the wireless mighty mouse has worked without issue.
I removed the device and added several times with no change. I even moved the wireless keyboard to my G5 and it worked great over there.
After a few days of trying various things to no avail, I was finally able to get the keys to work, but I am not sure why. I had a wired keyboard connected and kept going back and forth between the wireless and wired keyboard and all of a sudden it started working. Very strange.

this problem is fixed, but if anybody has an idea what happened, I would like to know.

  • F# keys on Apple Wireless Keyboard not working correctly.

    Hello everyone,
Today I bought a brand new Apple Wireless Keyboard (the small ones who resemble laptop keyboards), which I'm very glad I bought as some keys on my older keyboard started not working anymore.
I configured the keyboard with bluetooth and it's working just fine, except for one thing:
The F# keys don't work as their respective icons indicate (i.e. If I press F10, F11 and/or F12, the volume isn't affected as it normally should, but instead the keys don't seem to respond, as if I weren't pressing them).
In the Keyboard & Mouse panel in System Preferences, under the Keyboard Shortcuts, I managed to reset the F1 to F4 keys so they work as their respective icons indicate, though I didn't find and don't know how to create any shortcuts to make the volume keys (F10, F11 & F12) work again.
Also, I would appreciate if you could help me out to reset the F7, F8 & F9 keys, which don't work either.
I tried checking and un-checking the "Use the keys F1, F2 and so on, as standard function keys." option under the Keyboard tab, and pressing the "fn" key while pressing the F# keys, but none of those attempts seem to change anything to how the F# keys work.
I don't know what else to do anymore and I would really appreciate some help now.
Thanks in advance for your responses,
    Oscar.

Shutdown your macbook. After thats done , switch the wireless keyboard off. Press Shift + Ctrl + Option  + Power Key (all together ) and then release together. Start up the macbook and once that's up start up the keyboard.Try now.The keys should work fine.
