  • How can i re-enable/restore a disabled iPad and keep the data without using a laptop or iCloud

    Hello,
Is there a way to re-enable a disabled iPad and maintain the data taking into consideration that no iCloud backup was made and the computer it was last synced with was not available? any idea?

No, sorry.  Without a backup in iCloud or iTunes, you will have to set it up as if new and anything on it will be lost now.
You can always re-download purchased apps and content (other than audiobooks) once it is restored, from the respective iTunes or App stores.

You may have to do this several times.
Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

  • Some older addresses that sync from Outlook no longer showup on my ipad and iphone.  Data is in Outlook and in Icloud contacts.  Any suggestions?

Some older addresses that sync from Outlook no longer showup on my ipad and iphone.  Data is in Outlook and in Icloud contacts.  Any suggestions?  Some of the newer addresses seem to sync but the older ones (family) addresses are not.  The data is showing up in Outlook and in icloud but doesn't show up in my contacts after a sync.

    Hi dlzimmie,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has some troubleshooting for contacts syncing issues that may help:

    LOST PASSCODE
You may be able to reset the passcode by restoring the device.
Connect the device to the computer with which you normally sync and open iTunes.
Note: If iTunes prompts you to enter the passcode, try another computer that you have synced with. Otherwise, go to "If you have never synced your device with iTunes", below.
Right-click the device in the left column and select Back up.
When the backup is complete, select Restore.
When finished, restore from your most recent backup.
    Read http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
If that doesn’t work you will need to perform a factory restore to remove it. Or read:

  • My ipad and laptop were stolen, how can I get my data back?

Both my ipad and laptop were stolen. Ive downloaded itunes onto a new laptop but none of my files are there. I was using iCloud. Can anyone help?

You're music can be downlooaded (if it was purchased using iTunes) have you signed into your account in iTunes on the new laptop?
If the music was not purchased from iTunes and you are using iTunes Match you can also download it. If you are not using iTunes Match music that was not purchased from iTunes is gone.

  • My computer crashed and lost all of my music and all my cd's were stolen how do I transfer the music on my IPod back to my computer so that I can update my IPod?

My computer crashed with all my music on it. All of my cd's that I had uploaded onto my computer were stolen.  The only way that I have all my music is on my IPod.  However, I am afraid to update it because I don't want to loose all the music that I no longer have that is on it.  How can I transfer from my IPod my music library onto my new computer without losing any of my music?  I mean it has not been updated in over a year because I have some really good music that I don't want to loose.  Please help me.  I would like to add some really great music but can't for fear of crashing the music I have.  Thank you in advance.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Have you failed to do this?
If so, then you can buy programs that will retrieve the music from the ipod (not supported by Apple).

  • HT4113 Can I tell if sombody else has delibertely  tried to acsess my iPad and erased data

Is there a log which survives to tell me if somebody has deliberately tried to acsess my iPad using a incorrect pass code and erased my device ?

Was your iPad passcode protected? If so, without the proper passcode you can't access the iPad.

  • Reminder app on my IPad and IPhone loses date/time

I had entered 6 items in the reminder app a while ago.  Noticed lately that I have gotten no reminders.  Opened the app and found the date time for 5 items have completely disappeared.  The one that remained has an alarm date in December 2014.
So I did some testing.  I successfully created a new item,  entered an alarm date time, touched the Done word on the top to save.  Date time are now shown for this new item.
Now I added a second new item.  Repeat the process successfully.  Returned to the List screen.  Date time for the second new item are  shown, but the date time for the first new item have disappeared.
Unbelievable.  So I repeat the by re-entering the date time for the first new item, and when I went back to the List screen, the date time for this item are there, but date time for the second new item are now gone.
Now I quit the app altogether (not just putting it to sleep), and when I open the app again, the only item with date time is the one due in Dec. 2014. The 2 new items have no dates and times!
Any one has any ideas why?  I am using ios7.1
I was connected to the internet and iCloud when I set the alarm date and time

    Try this. http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

  • How do i restore to factory setings and erase personal data

how can i return settings to factory for mac book pro with retina and erase all personal data

Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
Be sure to use the option for the secure erase described in Step 3. Are you planning to dispose of the computer? If so, then there are some other things you will need to do.

  • If my computer and ipod were stolen how do I get back the music I have already purchased?

I purchased a new computer and ipod but can't retrieve any of my old music. If I try to go to the itunes store and click on the items I have already purchased it says "are you sure you want to purchase this again."

    You only get one download.
Unless you are int the U.S, then you can use icloud beta.  Open itunes store, click Purchased, under Quick Links.

  • I bought an ipad that i think was stolen how do i wipe everything from it?

I have tried to reset it by connecting it to the computer and holding all the buttons but while it is resetting it keeps saying that it cannot connect to the ipad without the passcode. Is there something that I need to do to get it to get passed that?

In order to unlock the iPad, you need to restore it using recovery mode. The instructions are in this support article. You will erase the device when you do this, but that's what you want to do anyway.
this can take a few tries, so don't give up if it doesn't work the first time.

  • IPad and iPhone icloud data

Switchng to a Mac after 30 years as an avid PC user. I have an iPhone and an iPad with all my data syncing between the two just fine. I can't seem to figure out how to get the info (music, pics etc) to my MacBook Air via iCloud.  Understand that calendar items update regularly between the three products, but I want addresses, music, pics etc to come to the MB Air also. Thanks in advance for your help.
