Hello on win 8.1 tablet

I just received the promotion about Hello and tried to connect to my wife who is using Firefox 36 on her Winbook 10.1 tablet which runs full Win 8.1 (NOT RT). She said that the Hello screen comes up and there was a notice that said Firefox requests access to your mic and camera,which she approved. But she says that it has just stopped there.
I'm sorry that without seeing her tablet, I can't offer any other clues. She runs Avast just like I do and it didn't stop me, plus she hasn't mentioned any warnings on her end.
Any idea what has happened?

Try these troubleshooting steps.
IMPORTANT:Before starting this procedure, make sure the AC adapter is connected to the tablet charge connector and is plugged into a working wall outlet.
NOTE: Because each of these steps represents a possible solution to this issue, check the tablet status after completing each step.
Press and hold the power button for at least thirty seconds.
NOTE: If the tablet turns off, press the power button again to turn the tablet back on. If the tablet turns on, you should be able to use it normally. If it does not turn on, proceed to the next step.
If tablet is still frozen or not responding, you will need to follow these steps to initiate a forced External Data Reset procedure.
IMPORTANT: Unfortunately, because it is being reset to the condition it was in when it was first purchased, all of the data and settings will be erased from the tablet.
With the tablet completely off, press and hold the Volume Up (+) button, and while continuing to hold that button, press and hold the Power button for several seconds.
Once the Sony logo appears, let go of the Power button.
Continue to hold the Volume Up (+) button until the Android system recovery screen is displayed. Once that screen is displayed, release the Volume Up (+) button.
IMPORTANT: Sometimes starting to the Android system recovery screen is enough to return the tablet to normal condition, and a forced External Data Reset procedure may not be needed. For this reason we recommend that you quickly press the Power button in order to cancel the reset and restart the tablet. If the tablet turns on and you are able to use it normally, no further action is necessary. If the tablet still does not operate normally, repeat steps 1-3 above and then proceed with the next step.
In the Android system recovery screen, use the Volume Down (-) button to highlight the Reset to factory settings option.
Quickly press the Power button.
In the Reset to factory settings: Confirm reset screen, use the Volume Down (-) button to highlight the Yes -- delete all user data option.
Quickly press the Power button.
The troubleshooting steps listed above should resolve your issue. If you have completed all of the steps and the issue is not resolved, service may be required.

One Licence for MAC and WIN?

I would like to purchase Lightroom. As I understand I can run the program with one licence on a desktop and a laptop, but not use it on both devices at the same time. My Desktop is a MAC, my Laptop runs on Windows 7. Is this still possible with the same licence?

I updated the driver to the last version in AUR. It works without any configuration at me (no calibration or custom xorg.conf entries). I tried with xorg-server 1.9+ only, though.

Tablet is not turning on..

Hello I have a Lenovo Tablet A1000. The warranty is expired, and it is not turning on. The screen stays blank. When I press the power button it vibrates a little. It was nearly dead so I put it on charge and wen to sleep. When I woke up and checked on it it hadn't charged. I tried different chargers and ports, but it didn't work. Then it died. Now it is not turning on at all. A similiar issue like this happened before, but I solved that with the volume + power button thing. Now, that is not working. I tried that thing you do with a pin in that hole near the sd card but nothing has happened. I pressed the power button for 30 secs 40 secs nothing happnned. I have tried all sorts of combinations with how long press the volume and power button, nothing. Please help.

How to install winRT 8.1 app on tablets without a domain?

I created an app and need to install it on 4 win 8.1 tablets.
I created an package through vs->store->no to upload to store.
I tested it on the tablets using a temp Microsoft developer license.
I read a lot and found out that are 2 main ways to deploy it:
1. Store 2. sideloading
The thing is that I need it only for 4-6 tablets, they are not domain joined or anything like that. I just want to install like I did for testing, just for deployment. I don't want to publish it to the store. How do I do that?
There is documentation for individual or really big companies. But not for small scale.
About the Microsoft developer licenses, how many should I purchase. Can I buy one and manually install it like I did for testing?

Yes, correct.
Because MS assume that you are either:
a) a developer, who will deploy via Store
b) a corporation, who already have Volume Licensing, pay developers to write custom apps and will sideload the apps
Probably in your case, the developer license is needed, but I haven't read the detail of that license.

I cannot acess files onmy Win XP Pro server from my three win 8.1 umits

Okay, I'm finally off of most of the medicinal drugs and I still cannot get my share/use commands to work.
My environment is 4 PCs local network (one win 8.1 laptop (wireless), one win 8.1 desktop (hardwired and wireless), one win 8.1 tablet (wireless) and one win XP Pro - SP3 desktop (wireless) - the drive is an NTFS formatted drive.
On the in XP server with simple file sharing turned "OFF", I created a net user command that added a user. I set a password for this account and then the /add: operator. I used the /homedir: option to set the home
directory to the root directory of drive "C". I used the Net localgroup command to move don.farr into the administrator group. Both commands execute properly on the XP server. I also issue a net share command to share the root directory
of drive "C".
Using the laptop (Win 8.1) I do a net use command with the password for the drive appended to the end of the net use command.
When I try to access the files on my z: drive, I get "access denied" messages regardless of which method I use to get to the data files. For example, using "cmd" I switch to z: and cd into the root directory. I can do
a "dir"and see all the files, but if I try to do a "type" or even open the file with notepad (example "autoexc.bat") I get an access denied message.
Now, just to make matters more interesting, if I do "remote access", I can get to the drive and do just about anything I want to. Also, if I issue a "Net Session" command, I will see the user (don.farr) as a listed user but instead
of seeing the proper fullname. I do see the IP address followed by the user name.
On the win XP Pro system, if I issue the Net user command, I see user set up in the administrator group.
So I ask, what in the world am I doing wrong that is preventing my in 8.1 from full access to my in XP Pro drive.
This only became an issue of late because I am recovering from knee surgery and my ability to move to the different computers is a severe challenge at this immediate point in time.
Please help me!

The most probable reason stems from difference between SMB versions. W XP is SMB 1 and W 7 and 8.x are 2 or more. Lower higher version Windows to lower SMB. Sometimes other configuration items may play the role, namely
autotuning. Also versio 6.x Wiindows has different mechanism for neighbor discovery.
Root directory is usually shared by default and is accessible to local administrator.

Kanji (or Chinese characters) handwriting recognition with tablet (not trackpad)

I have a Wacom tablet and I would really like to use it to input Kanji by drawing them. I know there is an option to draw kanji with the trackpad and that works perfectly fine, but I don't find it very comfortable and since I have a tablet I would really like to use it for that purpose! And I can't find any way to use that trackpad option with my tablet!
I also know there are internet tools (and even a google app) that enable to draw them and get them recognized... But you need to copy-paste everything that you write, it is just so unpractical! I would just like to use my tablet in the same way that the trackpad drawing option works!
I know it is possible to use tablets to draw kanjis on windows computer, everyone says it around the internet... But I just cannot believe there isn't a possibility to do that with Macs too! Is it really the case? Is there not an extra "IME" or app to download that could enable this option?

Xz tablet will not start - service symbol

my nearly brand new tablet will not start anymore. I installed severall apps / programmes during the last days but yesterday everything was fine. Now it just shows a service symbole and a loading bar. Power button and volume+ with following restart just brings me to the same status.
Please tell me what to do!

Please try running a repair with the tablet powered off to resolve this:
1. Download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
2. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
3. Phone Software Update.
4. Start.
5. Repair Phone
6. Continue
7. Accept data removal
8. Next
9. Wait for prepare
10. Select Phone
11. Follow the connection steps

Helix immediately shut-off when the tablet is connected to the keyboard-dock

Hello,
when I connect the tablet with the keyboard-dock, the system immediately shut-off. If the tablet is connected to the keyboard-dock I can not start it. Otherwise I can start the tablet without the keyboard-dock.
I tried to install all up to date driver, but nothing changed. I also pushed the reset button (minimum 10sec with and without connected Power). It seems as if is a hardware problem not a software problem.
Have anybody had the same problem?

HDR-CX330 won't connect to Xperia tablet after Android Lollipop update

Hello, Yesterday our Xperia tablet received an upgrade to Lollipop, and now I can no longer maintain a connection to the camera. It momentarily connects, but disconnects almost immediately. I tried (at the camera's suggestion) changing the password, but that didn't resolve the problem. The camera also suggested there was a second device connected. But the 2nd device was the tablet itself! Any ideas on how to fix this? This is a company camera that gets used regularly, and I need to get it working again!

I think you're on the right track with this, and did have the camera "forget" the network and then re-join. (Can't find where to tell either the cam or the tablet to connect automatically.)
I HAVE been able to establish a reliable (I think) connection using Wi-Fi , but when I look at Xperia's network info in Settings, I do see an authentication error AFTER I have disconnected, so I don't know at what point the authentication error is coming up.
All these months I've been repeatedly doing what worked, without really paying attention to HOW it was working, so I'm a little non-plussed to have just this weekend learned that all this NFC connection stuff I struggled through last year was apparently unnecessary! And from today's efforts I see that NFC doesn't even seem to work unless WiFi is turned on. So either 1) I'm missing something right in front of my face, 2) there's a hidden control I'm not finding (like when I couldn't get the MP4 files off the camera because the ability to view them was off by default and well-hidden in the Settings), or 3) WiFi is necessary for NFC, in which case I really don't see the usefulness of NFC.
Bottom line: I *think* I have a stable connection now, but uncertain as to why it's working. So problem potentially solved.
Because I'm not even certain I've been connecting with NFC or not after all this time, I would appreciate if someone could fill in some of the blanks - or at least say whether or not it all seems normal except some weird connection issue - as I'm always looking to learn and better understand how things work.

W NYACK NY (Store 455) tablet trade in denied

Hello. I brought my tablet(latte tab2) for your trade-in during the previous promotion, but the store associate denied it because it wasn't in their system. The promotion should accept ANY of the working tablet(except Nook)
On Sept 8th I contacted Best Buy Customer Care <[email protected]> and Customer Care contacted the store 4 times and 3 weeks later on Sept 28th the manager Michael replied and said the store customer associates told him they can't recycle if it's not found in system.
On Sept 29th Jel from Best Buy Customer Care said stores can have additional limitations but in this situation the store is limiting this to only tablets sold by bestbuy (found in the system)
The last promotion ended 4 weeks ago, and the store responded to my complaint only 7 days ago refussing to accept tablets not found in system. Will I be able to particiate in this promotion this time?
Please can you find out are they excluding all the models not found in system because they do not understand the promotion?
