Hello, persistant crashing, can anyone help me out?

Hello! I am a new user, on the go, and my new MacBook Pro unfortunatly persistantly crashes when performing tasks such as software updating, downloading and uploading.
I am new to OS X and am feeling a little lost.
I assume, if I were to try performing a range of other tasks I may encounter more problems resulting in similar cirsumstance.
If anyone could help me out, it would be greatly apprechiated, I thought it would be wise to post here beore nagging the manufacturer and/or selling assistant.
If anyone knows of a solution or whether this is something others have experianced and their solution, I would be very greatful to hear from them.

One of the first suggestions I would make is that you post your problem in the correct forum. This is the Mac PRO forum, not the MacBOOK Pro forum. There is a separate forum for MacBook Pros.
Second, I would suggest you provide more specific information about your problem. Simply saying you have persistent crashes doesn't tell us much. Are there any error dialogs? If so what error messages are provided? What is happening when these crashes occur?
Because the computer is new have you taken it back to the store where it was purchased (or if bought online to a local Apple store) to have them determine if the problem is faulty hardware? If the computer is less than 15 days old you could simply get it replaced if it's defective.
