Hello, shall I install Adobe Flash Player in my MacPro or is there any other more compatible software?

Hello,
I'm new using a Mac, so not sure what programs are compatible with an Apple product! For example, I know that Excel & Words are replaced by "Pages", but what happens with the Adobe Flash Player, can I install it to watch videos and movies on the Mac, etc, or is there another more Apple-compatible program I should use/download instead?

If you want to view Flash content, you have to install the dismal Adobe player. However, you can control what it does, and reduce your dependence on it to some extent, by also installing either the ClickToFlash or ClickToPlugin Safari extension. The latter can be configured to substitute HTML5 video for Flash on certain sites, such as YouTube. Recommended.

I installed adobe flash player for my imac, and now there is no video

Just sound plays when I go to let's say Youtube. What did I do wrong and how do I go back to watching videos? I use safari as my browser. I have a 2GHZ Intel Core Duo Running version 10.4.11

There is a procedure of Manual Installation of Adobe Flash Player on Ubuntu, follow these steps :
Open http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
Choose Linux 32-bit on Step 1
Choose Flash Player 11.2 (tar.gz) on Step 2, download the file
Once download is complete, right click on the flie (tar.gz) and click on "Extract here"
Launch Terminal (Keyboard Shortcut : Ctrl+Alt+T)
Go to that location where you extracted the file
Run this command : sudo mv libflashplayer.so \/usr/lib/firefox-addons/plugins
Launch Mozilla Firefox and check do you have Adobe Flash Player

If I try to start the installation using the Adobe Flash Player.pkg in the „Resources“ folder I cannot chose my hard drive to install flash.

I think this exception is thrown if I click on my hard drive’s symbol in the installer.
I have the same problem when I try to install Microsoft’s last Office update. Maybe there is a connection?
I tried several older versions of the Adobe Flash Player installer, but they didn't work as well.
Perhaps we have some kind of "Mavericks" problem here?

Finally found the issue here:

Somehow a empty file /System/Library/CoreServices/ServerVersion.plist has been created.
If I understand this right this file is only needed if you use Mac OS X Server.
As suggested in the support forum I deleted the file (renamed it to _ServerVersion.plist) and after that every installation, including Adobe Flash Player and Office 2011 update worked!

Hello experts, I wonder if this sounds familiar to you : I'm trying to install adobe flash player 11 on my iMac ( 10.7.3 ) but without success. Downloading is ok but installing is a problem, after starting the installing process it results not in the application but in the installing manager. Anybody any idea?

I should point out that Flash Player is not a standalone application. It's a plug-in that is accessible to all browsers.
On SL it installs at Macintosh HD > Library > Internet Plug-Ins > Flash Player.plugin
I understand that in Lion the Library folders are hidden, so you may need to use the Finder Go menu to get there.
Get info on that will tell you the installed version so you'll know if the install was successful or not.

Flash Player is no longer supported on OS X 10.5.8. The last version to support OS X 10.5.8 is Flash Player 10.3. Flash Player 10.3 is available for download from this page: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html.

personally NO, unless you are using something that demands it.
aside the spat between adobe and apple, it does grind and hog the processor to death - hence why apple decided not to 'support' it.
-just take a look in activity monitor once it starts up.
It (can) also leave vunerabliites to virus 'type' infections;
IF you do indeed decide to load it up, be VERY carefull where you get it from, and ignore ANY POP UP message about updates etc -
*ALWAYS* ONLY go Direct to the adobe flash site, never, never any other 3rd party site. both for install and updates.
