Ever since updating to new OS, my iphone won't sync to itunes. When I plug in the phone to the PC, it says I need to update itunes to 10.6.3 or later. I did, but still get the same error message.

Since it told me to update, I updated to 10.7.
Then when I plugged in the phone again, it gave the same message that I need to update itunes.

If your old version of iTunes is still working - then I sugest you stick with that.
iTunes 11 is a lousy update - It will not retain your playlists, you can't find and delete duplicates... and a whole arry of oyher issues. (have a look around this forum to see how many issues IT11 gives people)

Thanks. Short of the sort of "generic" suggestions of restaring your system, if you haven't, and repairing disk permissions and verifying the disk, I don't have any advice right now. I'll do some research and see if I can come across anything. Meanwhile, someone else may have an idea.

Apple Application Support was not found. Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2 (Windows error 2).

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

I would say that you would want to look into the "Exchange Mode" for GMail. That would allow your iPhone to sync calendars, contacts and email with GMail just fine. Doing the same with your outlook should also then sync those same with your PC using Outlook. I've done teh iPhone side of this, but I since I don't run Lookout for my email client, I'm not sure how that will work on the PC side.

A couple of other items:
1) I am guessing Apple does not keep a history of all my music purchases? As I did not have my entire library backed-up anywhere, and relying on the music I have on my ipod and my iphone as my only source of itunes music....I have lost over 500 songs!!!
2) I used to have an Apple account under another account name, and since have switched to a new account name. Is there anyway to find the history of purchases from my old Apple account name and transfer these over to my new account name and onto my new laptop?

The iphone/ipod is NOT a storage/backup device. Not maintaining a backup copy is a big mistake.
You can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone/ipod to your computer:
Authorize your computer for all accounts and then click File>Transfer Purchases

From what I've read, the private folder is where most cameras put AVCHD video files, and you're right, it's not very intuitive.
I've discovered that the cause of the problem is that iPhoto can't handle 1080p60 videos. The other AVCHD videos that I had tested were 720p60 and they work fine on iPhoto (actually I haven't done any testing to see if the quality is still there, but at least iPhoto will see them and import them for storage alongside the pictures with which they were taken).
Now that I know this I can choose my video quality settings accordingly. For now I just need to figure out the best way to convert my few videos from the other day into files that iPhoto likes.
