Why does Vine Server not start with this script and work with the other?

I have the preferences of Vine Server set to start/run automatically when opening the programme.
If I double click the icon it works. Opens and starts.
If I use
activate application "Vine Server"
it opens but does not start.
If I use:
tell application "Finder"
activate
open application file "Vine Server.app" of folder "Vine Server 3" of folder "Applications" of startup disk
end tell
it opens and starts.
Anybody any idea as to why?
This seems to happen since I upgraded form 10.4 to 10.5.

Do you have multiple versions of Vine Server application, perhaps?
If so, that might cause the described behaviour.
You may try using full path to the current Vine Server application such as -
activate application "/Applications/Vine Server 3/Vine Server.app"
or -
tell application "/Applications/Vine Server 3/Vine Server.app" to activate

Laptop not starting

My laptop is suddenly not starting,,I used it 2 days ago,Then it was alright.but now it is not starting up... Power button shows light.bluetooth button also shows a red light.Caps lock button shows blue light off & on .. Monitor shows nothing.there is no sound,no air is coming out.. help me.. please

I grasp that your notebook was working OK a few days ago but now it will not boot up. The power button lights up, the Bluetooth light is red and the Caps lock button shows blue light flashing on and off. You do not have any air movement from the fan.

Why my KDM can not start kde4.2[SOLVED]

I install kde and xorg .but the KDM can not start my kde ,I input my username and passworld ,but i not work
use gdm instead ,it works. how shoule I do to make the KDM work .

the .ICEauthority was the file which needed a chown/chmod to let me go into kde.. but it's ok i guess, since you don't have it.
mine is somehow like this:
~$ ls -la .*authority
-rw-rw---- 1 quarkup quarkup 64K Fev 2 13:20 .ICEauthority
-rw------- 1 quarkup root 1,4K Fev 7 21:55 .Xauthority

Laptop not starting up but rather blinking

My laptop just blinking. Nothing responding. All happened suddenly. I unplugged AC power removed the battery and pressed the on bottom for 30 s and then on but the problem was the same. My windows was 10 upgraded while this problem happened hoped this problem would be terminated.
I was trying to turn 3d max on when this problem started. I doubled click on the software icon and waited to start and this small circle started to turn but suddenly blinking started and icons disappeared. Since then, only blinking and I realised that the internet went off as well
Need help please to sort this problem

My HP Laptop not starting

I had used the laptop on saturday night and shut it down but on sunday morning whn i tried to switch it on then could not start it.There is no display on the screen.Only CAPSLOCK and WIFI key are blinking.Number of blinks each time is 3. I tried to hard reset the system as mentioned on other blogs by removing the battery but to no avail.same situation prevails.Kindly come up with a solution to the problem. Short DST Fail= the hard drive has failed and will need to be replaced. If you are still in warranty HP will send a replacement. If not a retail laptop SATA hard drive can be used. Just be sure to get one of at least equal capacity as the original in order to use Recovery Discs. It can be larger, but not smaller capacity.For instance if you have a 500GB hdd you could use a 750GB hdd but not a 320GB hdd.

Why Firefox 19 will not start downloading?

Why does nidevldr service not start reliably?

nidevldr service does not start (consistently) after reboot. We are running TestStand 4.2.1 on Win 7, 32 bit.
National Instruments mDNS service starts after reboot, but stops shortly thereafter. As we understand it, the NI mDNS must be started in order for nidevldr to start.
Both services are set to automatically restart after 1st, 2nd & subsequent failures per NI Document ID: 4BHID6DE.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Aside from the cases mentioned in the 4BHID6DE document, It's possible that there is a firewall or antivirus software that is restricting this service from running properly. If you have any of those configured they may be worth adding exceptions to.
But, as Doug mentioned, this probably isn't the best place to pose this type of question as this forum is focuses on TestStand questions. I would actually recommend posting in the Multifunction DAQ (https://forums.ni.com/t5/Multifunction-DAQ/bd-p/250) forums, as they rely more on the device loader service for troubleshooting DAQ hardware.

Why does setup assistant not start?

I fully chraged the iPad but when I try to start it, and expect the Startup Assistant to appear, only the iTunes logo appears. This does not clear. How can I get the startup assistant to, well, start?

Connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes - if it does not start on its own. That is what the logo on the screen is telling you to do - connect to iTunes. Once iTunes starts, it should instruct you in the step but step activation process.

Laptop Not Starting After opening G6-1118tx with screwdriver

Today my brother locked my laptop from bios so i heard from a forum to solve this by removing cmos battery jumper, so i removed all screw and tried to open it but it was hard so i put all screw back in and tried to start laptop
but the laptop is not turnin on (neither the light on power button) but when i plugged in charger it was charging

I suggest that you have someone who knows what they are really looking at open it up and give it an inspection. A more costly alternative would be to take it to a notebook shop and explain the problem.
Take a look at the instructions on insidemylaptop.com for disassembling your notebook.

Why does my mail not start up?

Hi - having a real problem...I didn't use my mac yesterday and then today when I went to turn it on the keyboard was lit up but the screen didn't light up so I turned it off and on..ooops! Now everything works ok but when I go to start up mail a box pops up with: "to use the new features in mail your exsisting mail messages need to be imported to the version the first time you use the mail. This might take a few minutes. You will not be able to use mail until this has finished" I clicked import, it took a few minutes to import the messages and once it was done I went to open mail and it just doesn't do anything. When I go to quit mail it says I am forcing mail to quit...rreally need to open my mail. Help please!

sounds like a class path issue - are you sure coherence.jar is in the current directory., i.e. C:\Documents and Settings\jimq? What is the result of jar tvf coherence.jar | grep MBeanConnector or windows equivalent?? Here is the result of me running the same cmd line:

Why is my laptop not charging?

My mom's laptop will not charge when the cord is plugged in and turns green but then does not go to yellow saying it is charging. Is this a battery issue? or what?

First try resetting the SMC, the PRAM, and NVRAM.

It could be a problem with the power adapter, the battery, or just that some battery settings need to be recalibrated: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1490
To see more information about the charging status and health of the battery, click on the  Apple logo in the upper left menubar.
Select About this Mac, then More Info...
Select Hardware, Power in the left Contents column:
You're on OS X 10.5.8, so your screen may not look exactly like this one, but you should still see similar information. I have a replacement battery, so the Model information will not be the same.
