I have already tried removing firefox from my firewall. Even when I do that, my firewall doesn't detect firefox and prompt me to add it. And when I manually add it, it still doesn't work anyways. I've already tried the link as well, but it has been unhelpful. :/
I'm not sure if it matters, but a few weeks before this, I did download Microsoft Security Essentials.

  • Installed WIndows 7 & correct bootcamp drivers, windows will not activate "hot fix" or "Support drivers"

Hello, i hope someone can help,
i have repeated this whole process 3 times already, it has taken 8 strait hours of my time and i still have had no success.
    QUICK SUMMERY
To put it simply, After windows is up and running on my mac, the wireless network wont work, so i cannot download the hot fix, and the support driver files from bootcamp will not open because it says they are not "32 Valid" ?. But im using a 64bit disk.
The wireless network adaptor automatically doesn't work on windows right after installation,
so i had to load the Hot Fix onto an SD card along with the bootcamp drivers, then open the hotfix file in windows.
The first time i was able to install the fix, windows restarted and installed the update, logged back on... and nothing changed.
At that point i attempted to open the "Setup"  file in the bootcamp support folder, and an error message came up saying it wasn't valid.
LONGER EXPLANATION OF MY COMPLETE PROCESS: (to cancel out any questions)
i was able to find my support driver from here:
    http://swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/others/index-leopard-snowleopard.merged -1.sucatalog
its some old fashion coded page that has a bunch of apple drivers you can download by pasting one of the codes in your browser,
i searched for bootcamp support drivers, and found the code for my exact model (Mac Pro 8,2)
i was able to manually downloaded the drivers instead of  using bootcamp assistant.
    As a side note,
i was able to download the bootcamp drivers via boot camp assistant after the 5th try,
so now i have both files that i know are supposed to work 100%. they are loaded and unzipped on an SD card like they are supposed to be for when i open windows.
I have a Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium x64 bit CD from the inlaws so i used that CD after i partitioned my drive in bootcamp.
Bootcamp run like it was supposed to, and i followed step by step instructions in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVfRQ0YIDUI&feature=related
    once windows was finished installing,
it automatically would not detect a network card, so i couldn't connect to the internet and download the apples bug fix. (The Hot fix)
instead i downloaded the hot fix on a separate SD card, turned windows back on and loaded the hot fix from the SD card.
Windows installed the hot fix update, restarted, but nothing changed.
Ive even tried skipping right to uploading the drivers, and windows wont activate the support because it says its not "32 Valid"
I completely removed windows 7 vis bootcamp to rinse and repeat hoping i made a simple mistake, but no same thing happened.
    Conclusion
-im Wondering if i should "Istall important Windows Updates" during the begining of windows preperation...
maybe that will fix the issues of it not reconizing wierless network, and not being able to upen up the bootcamp file?
(it says you are not supposed to install any windows updates untill the HOT FIX and BOOTCAMP SUPPORT is activated on windows)

You have been too cleaver for a Boot Camp install.
The partition system does NOT like anything other than a standard arrangement which creates 4 partitions.
    EFI -200mb
    OSx - Extended Journaled
    Buffer-200mb
    Windows -NTFS
Return to OSx -Open Boot Camp tool from the utilities folder reset to a single partition.
Start again and when you get to Windows - Let all the drivers load on the CREATED partition. Use the External for storage !
Just for your information, as it doesn't seem you have ever used BC.
When starting the boot camp assistant the first thing it want to do is download the Windows Support drivers and asks you to save them to a DVD, it will also allow you to save them to your OS X hard drive or to any drive connected to the system. Once those drivers are downloaded it then starts the Win install. What you must do is copy those support drives to a media that Windows can See and Read from. Like a DVD or a thumb drive formatted FAT32
No where in the OPs post does he say anything about fooling with any partitions on his internal drive other then creating the BC partition.
His problem is he saved those support files to a Mac OS X formatted external drive. Windows can not read Mac Extended (Journaled) formatted drives. So he can't load the drivers for Windows until he copies those support files ove to something that Windows can read.

  • WIndows Vista RC1 (No Drivers)

    Well, hey there.
I've just installed Windows Vista RC1 (March 2009). It's pretty recent.
I went ahead and installed my Boot Camp drivers, but lo and behold nothing installed. I figured it was a botched installation, formatted that partition, and started again.
So, I have tried once again and I am having all kinds of problems. For some reason I can't change the brightness of my monitor or keyboard (both are max all the time) and much of my hardware is not recognized. (By 'much' I mean 'all'. I manually installed a wireless driver.)
Vista installs smoothly, I go about installing the BootCamp drivers and the installation window itself says it's installing each component, but the device manager isn't changing at all. Everything remains "Generic" & "Unrecognized".
I just want Vista to play some games so I can blow off some steam & to do some 3ds Max stuff for college.
Why is this simple process of installation so difficult?
This Apple business is becoming very stressful very quickly.
What I want is some regular old drivers for my stuff to work, there's nothing unique about the hardware so why is it so awkward and frustrating & difficult to get drivers? At best, can someone maybe tell me what kinds of hardware would be in the late 2008 MacBook Pro & how do I get my brightness adjustments to work?
And also, why don't Apple just have individual drivers for download: Nearly every other manufacturer & vendor does (Dell, HP, Sony, Lenovo, Acer, etc.. They use third party hardware and drivers too).

I don't have a MacBook series, and in the folder "Apple" are drivers for various devices.
Try to install directly. If not try using Device Manager to update.
And try running system file checker just for good measure
    *sfc /scannow*
and follow that up with hardware check of your boot partition (schedule chkdsk).
Whether you can install Nvidia drivers manually or not, that would help.
And DO create system restore points and backups.

  • Install Windows 8.1 BootCamp drivers on old MacBook (Late 2008)

Here is how I installed BootCamp drivers for 8.1 on my old MakBook (Late 2008):
Download Boot Camp 4.0.4033 (Drivers for old MacBook is in this version)
Install Windows 7, then WIndows 8.1 (There are other threads on how to do that).
After Windows 8.1 installed, try to install Boot Camp 4.0.4033 again !!! (Reason: Only this version has the drivers for old Mac like mine)
Download and install InstEd on Windows 8: http://www.instedit.com/download.html. You need this to modify the BootCamp 4 MSI installer to allow you to run it
Run InstEd, click File > Open, browse to your <BootCamp_4.0.4033>\BootCamp\Drivers\Apple folder and choose BootCamp64.msi.
Click LaunchCondition on the left-hand list.
Select all the rows then right click Delete Rows. (Take a look, you will find thses are the messages you saw when you could not run the installer)
Save the file with a new name (I used bootcamp4.msi) and quit InstEd.
Now, you can install the BootCamp 4 drivers on your Mac, by click the Setup.exe (Yes, this will also instll TrackPad driver for old Mac)
The BootCamp 4 service application itself is not compatible with Windows 8.1, (not the drivers). So just download BootCamp 5.1.5621, and install it (Tip: InstEd).
After restart, click the BootCamp icon in the system tray. Set up TrackPad, Keyboad, etc. (How is this possible? Because the drivers were installed by BootCamp 4.0.4033.)
    Unstall InstEd, if you want.
    Enjoy!

    And I used this method:
    1. Install Windows 8.1
    2. Download BootCamp 5 and unzip to folder BootCamp5 of a USB drive
    3. Start CMD as Administrator
    4. Install BootCamp 5 by entering the following commands
D: (Assuming the USB drive is assigned to letter D
    CD BootCamp5\BootCamp\Drivers\Apple
    BootCamp.msi
No need for InstEd might be considered by some as even more elegant as bezodziu's method

  • Palm Treo 700p Cannot install. Windows Vista looking for Drivers

Installed Palm software and synced on my Dell with no issues.
Went to install on 2nd PC with Windows Vista Home.  Issues.  Got new download for Vista 32 and downloaded off site.
Same error puts me in a circle.  System finds new hardware.  Looks to install driver.  Can't find Drive on CD or Hardrive and so keeps in loop.  Cannot finish 1st "sync" without driver so install does not complete.
    Please advise:
Can I use the Palm device on two seperate PC's (One on NT running fine..now adding Vista Home).
How do I get the drive installed?
How do I be sure NOT to overwrite the data on the Palm when I sync the 1st time on the 2nd pc.
    Thanks
Post relates to: Treo 700p (Verizon)

Hello jpmill2 and welcome to the Palm forums.
    1. Please make sure that your Windows Vista account is a member of the Administrators group.  I would also be sure to check that antivirus software is disabled during the install process.
    2. You can use the Treo 700p with more than one computer.  I sync my Treo with my office PC running Windows XP SP2 and my Vista Business SP1 machine at home.  (And a Mac, just for good measure.)
    3. The USB driver for the Treo 700p is obtained by installing Palm Desktop 4.2 (bundled on the Treo 700p software disc) or by installing Palm Desktop 6.2 by ACCESS for Windows [Vista].  You should install the software first, and then connect the Treo after the install is complete. If prompted to HotSync during the install, I aways Skip it.
    4. If you Skip the HotSync during the Palm Desktop isntall, you can create a new HotSync ID on the computer with the same name as the HotSync ID on your Treo.  Then set the conduits to Handheld overwrites Desktop and then sync.
    Hope that helps,

  • Windows Vista 32Bit but cannot download HD films on itunes

    Hello, my first post.
I have previously purchased films from iTunes including HD films (probably 720p). I've never had a problem streaming them to my iphone via home sharing and playing them on my HDTV via the digital AV adaptor.
I recently took the plunge and bought a 2TB external hard drive in order to rip all my personal DVD collection and I also purchased an Apple TV 3 on the basis that future purchases would be from itunes in HD instead of blu-ray. However I have now noticed on itunes that I cannot purchase HD films as the option is greyed out and it merely says underneath (THE HD VERSION OF THIS ITEM IS AVAILABLE ON MAC OR WINDOWS 7 COMPUTERS WITH HDCP)
Firstly how do I find out if my computer is HDCP compatible?
Second why does my PC need this as I have no intention of watching my HD movie purchases from itunes but instead intend on streaming them via home sharing over my wi-fi network (would use ethernet but a separate apple tv 3 issue) as my Apple TV 3 is capable of dealing with 1080p and I have a 1080p HDTV connected to it with an HDMI cable?
Surely if I did watch the film via my PC then it should revert to the standard definition version.
I realise my PC has windows vista not 7 but is there a way to tweak my system to allow the purchase because my computer is certainly capable of storing HD video and streaming it to my apple TV.
If I cannot tweak my system to allow the purchase is it possible to circumvent this by purchasing the same HD film direct from my Apple TV 3?
My only question then is, if I do this how does it work?
The Apple TV 3 has no hard drive does it just stream it from the internet? or does the HD version then download to my iTunes on my PC so any future views of the HD film are instead then streamed via my home sharing as opposed to streaming/downloading it from the internet each time?
Hope the above makes sense. Would like to know a definitive answer as opposed to just guessing and purchasing films to test my theory and also don't really have to want to fork out to update my operating system from Vista to Windows 7 or 8.
    Thanks in advance.
For info I have the following system.      Dell Inspiron 530S Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit PC with Intel core 2 Duo CPU E8200 2.66GHz with 2GB of RAM and a 250GB HDD with about 90GB unused. My graphics card is a ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro.

Ok I downloaded a HD film to my iPhone 4 via the itunes app. Although it took a while to download. I then loaded up iTunes on my PC and looked at my purchases section. The HD film was there ready to be downloaded from the cloud onto my iTunes. I pressed the download button but I received a warning stating that you won't be able to view the film on your PC as it's not HD compatible (words to that effect).
Next I connected my iphone to my PC and selected iPhone on the iTunes source menu and set what I wanted synced from itunes to my iPhone but I also selected "back up to this computer" (hoping everything purchased on the iPhone would back up to itunes)
It went through its process and near the end stated "Transferring purchases" it did the apps then did the HD film I purchased. Once completed I went to the movies section on the source menu in iTunes and there was my newly purchased HD film.
I tried to view the film on my PC. It came up with a warning unable to view on this computer. Not a suprise but I didn't actually want to view it on my PC I want to stream it over my wi-fi to my Apple TV which is HDCP compatible.
If it works it will be great, if not, a long winded way to go about this silly issue..
However for those of you out there without an iPhone or iPad then the only way to view HD movies on Apple TV will be to upgrade your PC/Mac and Monitors and graphics card so you can purchase the HD movie from itunes OR
purchase the HD movie from your Apple TV and each time you want to view it re-download it from the internet on ATV. Not ideal if you ask me.
I'll report back on whether ATV3 can stream this newly purchased HD film from "Computers" section. fingers crossed!

  • Help!  Can I still install Windows Vista through Bootcamp?

I am currently running Lion 10.7.3 on my MacBook Pro.
When I purchased this laptop 2 years ago, Bootcamp allowed me to create a partition and install Windows Vista.   Then, over time I upgraded to OS X Snow Leopard and then Lion.  Never really paid attention to the bootcamp . . upgrades that came along with the system upgrades until now.
I was having issues with my Windows Vista Partition, so I decided to use Bootcamp to remove the Windows partition (with the thought that I would just re-create it and start fresh).  Easy right?  Wrong.   Now, bootcamp won't allow me to install Vista. Only Windows 7.  I don't want to run out and buy Windows 7 when I have a perfectly good (if you can call Vista good lol) copy of Windows . .    I only need it to run a thermal printer for UPS because it is not compatible with MAC.
IS there any way to get around this and install Vista on the partition instead of windows 7?   If so . . how?
My gosh I am actually wondering if it's cheaper to run out and buy a cheapo Acer computer for $250 . . then to deal with this headache.
    Any suggestions?

Vista is not supported by Lion. There are no drivers.

  • Chkdsk run every time I startup Windows Vista under Bootcamp in 10.6

I have Windows Vista 32 bits installed on bootcamp partition and it work fine in 10.5.
Now I have upgrade my MBP (early 2008) to Snow Leopard, and upgrade WIndows Bootcamp drivers to version 3.0 from Snow Leopard DVD. Both installation were completed and run fine.
The problem I have now is: Whenever I used Mac OS, shut down, then restart the WIndows Vista by pressing Option key at Macbook Pro startup, Chkdsk will run evry time, checking integrity of the Windows boot partition. I have to wait for more than 20 minutes before Chkdsk fix all errors, then reboot, and press Options key to get back into WIndows Vista without Chkdsk running.
When I shut down Windows, and restart without goinb into Snow Leoprad, the boot process go OK without Chkdsk running.
But whenever I shut fown Winodws and use Snow Leopard, then get back in to startup Windows, Chdsk run again. This is very annoyingm, and never occured in 10.5
During Chkdsk session, the following errors occured and being fixed:
Deleting index entry ._501 in index $I30 of file 9028
Deleting index entry 501 in index $I30 of file 9028
and after all process finished, Chkdsk stated that: There is a blank space that allocated as used, and has been fixed.
Can any friend advise me what cause this problem? and How to correct it?
I understanfd that the ._501 is in .Trashes folder on Windows partiton. It must be altered wwhen I use Snow Leopard, and must have to do with Trash in Mac OSX 10.6.
Can any friend advise me how to solve this problem? Thank in advance

The problem is repeatable. The same index and file to be deleted by Chkdsk remain unchanged every time I boot Windows under bootcamp after using Mac OS. If I reboot Windows many many times without using Mac OS, the error never occur.
It must be Mac OSX Snow Leopard that is the culprit. Can any friend give me solution of how to solve this problem?

  • Windows Vista & Parallels / BootCamp

So...I'm hesitant to even ask because I've read a few posts on here and seen some scary things.
1.A) Will Windows Vista run through Parallels?
1.B) Will Windows Vista run through BootCamp
    2) Does is actually run or is it just a joke?
    3) I have a MacBook because I love Apple but I am forced to use Windows. My Windows based Desktop just dies...is it worth it to buy Vista and run it on my MacBook?

    1.A) Yes
1.B) Yes, though drivers are not complete
    2) Via BootCamp it should be fine, via Parallels that depends on how good their addin tools are
    3) Are you unable to run XP for any reason?

  • Window Vista- Creative Zen-V Download Nee

Does anyone know what the download is so that window vista will accept the disc taht comes with creative zen-v? I cannot download it until I get the that so that I can put music on my mp3 player? Please can some help??

The disk that came with the Zen V is not vista compatible.
Vista should be able to recognize the Zen V as a MTP device inside windows as Vista comes with the necessary drivers to recognize the Zen V. All the downloads for the Zen V for vista are under Support->downloads on the creative website.

I had the same problem and was reasonably confident that the disc was actually okay and did not benefit from repeated checking. You can instruct Windows on boot to ignore a drive by typing in the following command after boot into a command window chkntfs /x c:
In the case above c: is the drive letter Windows is booting to. If there really is a serious issue that chkdsk is identifying and trying to fix for you this may not be the way to go. However if this helps you can always run chkdsk manually from time to time to verify that the disc is still okay.
SL also created this problem for me. After that and a host of other issues that I did not have the time or patience to to battle with I reinstalled Leopard and have been happy with the decision.
