Hellp!! Track dragging behind original recorded track

I don't know how or why this started happening. Garageband was working fine up till a certain point at which the tracks stopped being in sink.
I would record a guitar line and then make a singing track. Although the singing track sounds like its in Sync with the guitar part while I'm singing it...when I check what I recorded, the Vocal line is a measure or two ahead of where it should be with regard to the Guitar track. I have no idea how this happened. I may have pressed undo changes or something like that and I know I was deleting little sections of the track (perhaps one of these actions has to do with it). I tried recording a brand new track and still the same problem.
System Specs:
Ibook G4
OS X 10.3.9
Processor 1.2 Ghz
256 MB of RAM
20 GB H.D.
Condensor Mic and Mbox Audio Interface (I recorded both the guitar and vocal track with the condensor mic)

the tracks stopped being in sink.
You really should keep the tracks out of the sink, they get soggy very easily ;-)>
the Vocal line is a measure or two ahead of where it should be
A measure or two?! Really? I can't think of any way for a region to get offset an entire measure (or two) unless you accidently dragged the region without noticing.

  • I'm trying to multi-track using an m-audio device, I can record my guitar fine. However, I want to create a new track so I can record an acoustic tambourine over the top. Instead it records the original guitar as well as tambourine? its really annoying

    I'm trying to multi-track using an m-audio device, I can record my guitar fine. However, I want to create a new track so I can record an acoustic tambourine over the top. Instead it records the original guitar as well as the tambourine coming out with a really distorted sound. I've managed to record over the top of a guitar before and add diferent riffs and sounds but I've tried all of the settings but its still not working. Basically I want to record different tracks without it recording my previous guitar riffs as well. Help would really be appreciated.

    Ah that was it, thanks a lot common sense really but thanks for the help

  • Real newbie-I can hear my loops in my library, but when I drag them to a track, there is no audio.  What am I doing wrong?

    Real newbie question-I can hear the loops in my library, but when I drag them to a track, there is no audio when I playback or record.  What am I doing wrong?

    You probably put Midi loops (green) on audio tracks, and audio loops (blue) on Midi tracks.
    That won´t play.

  • Can you add an effect to just a small section of a recorded track?

    I want to add a modulation effect to 8 bars right in the middle of a recorded guitar track. Is there a way to do this or do I have to clip that section out and put it on a different track?
    Thanks!

    The simplest way to do that is to Automate the bypass of the effect. Do you know how to use automation?
    If not, hit 'A'. The arrange window will now reveal automation, provided you've zoomed in enough vertically (broad tracks). Clickhold on the long rectangular box directly under the track name:
    Now in that track make the appropriate points by clicking/dragging. When finished, it should look something like this:

  • Replacing the original audio track

    so i'm kind of new to premiere and i was wondering how you would replace the audio of an original clip with a different audio track?

    Alt drag audio into audio on timeline.
    Must be of the same length or have an inpoint otherwise it will be out of sync.
    Save way is to put the different audio on a track below the original and mute the original.

  • Procedure to track - I/U/E records in package

    Hello All,
    Am trying to build a procedure to track Insert/Update/Error records from the last interface in the package. For for some silly reason it gives SQL error. Can any one, help me find what's wrong?
    Here's the content of the procedure:
    INSERT INTO ODI_AUDIT_CT
    (STEP_NAME,INSERT_COUNT,UPDATE_COUNT,ERROR_COUNT,PROCESS_DATE)
    VALUES
    ('<%=odiRef.getPrevStepLog("DATALOAD_REV_STPROD")%>',<%=odiRef.getPrevStepLog("INSERT_COUNT")%>,<%=odiRef.getPrevStepLog("UPDATE_COUNT")%>,<%=odiRef.getPrevStepLog("ERROR_COUNT")%>,<%=odiRef.getSysDate("PROCESS_DATE")%>)
    Error:

    out.print(odiRef.getPrevStepLog("UPDATE_COUNT")) ;
    out.print(",") ;
    out.print(odiRef.getPrevStepLog("ERROR_COUNT")) ;
    out.print(",'") ;
    out.print(odiRef.getSysDate(<"PROCESS_DATE">)) ;
    out.print("')") ;
    ****** ORIGINAL TEXT ******
    INSERT INTO ODI_AUDIT_CT

    VALUES
    ('%=odiRef.getPrevStepLog("STEP_NAME")%>',<%=odiRef.getPrevStepLog("INSERT_COUNT")%>,<%=odiRef.getPrevStepLog("UPDATE_COUNT")%>,<%=odiRef.getPrevStepLog("ERROR_COUNT")%>,'<%=odiRef.getSysDate(<"PROCESS_DATE">)%>')

    I should have mentioned that am using 'IKM - SQL to Essbase'
    This is actually due to the Hyperion KMs uses native utilities to do the load versus the regular jdbc SQL statements, so the No. of Inserts, No. Of updates and No.of deletes are not counted and returned. This is enhancement request Bug 6898973.
    So again to work arround ,we were told to modify the Hyperion adapters .
    odiRef.getPrevStepLog function can't capture the records unless those(No. of inserts, No. of updates and No. of deletes) displayed in operator log. So to display those records we need to modify the Hyperion KMs with the following code and then you can use the odiRef.getPrevStepLog function to cature the error records.
    statString = stats.toString()
    st=statString.split("\n")
    inserts = long(st[1].split(":")[1])
    errors = long(st[2].split(":")[1])
    odiRef.setNbInsert(inserts)
    odiRef.setNbErrors(errors)
    Thanks.

  • Audigy 4/how do i preview track 1 while recording track 2. tha

    good day, i just bought a audigy 4 (not the special edidtion with remote, etc..
    my problem is when i open my production software (digital recorder--------
    say i record the drums on track in multi rack view. when i unarm track and arm track 2 to say record a piano. Then when i press play to hear track 2 it plays the drums i recorded on track . the drums on track record on all my tracks. i had this problem with the soundcard that came with my pc, i think somebody said something about it was pretty cheap and didn't come with preview or something...........anyways i just bought a Soundblaster Audigy 4, well it's far from top of the line but it's a big upgrade for me, any know how i can fix this problem of track being recorded on all the tracks. It's important for me to be able to listen to previously recorded tracks while playing a new .
    so does anybody know how and if Audigy 4 can do this? this is essential, i bought this soundcard for i could go from my hardware digital recorder to software digital recorder. if there's a way can someone give me exact instructions on how to do this.
    'm using audigy 4 soundcard, 2.53 ghz intel celron, 40gb hard dri've, 52 mb of ram, and the recorders i'm using are cakewalk guitar pro and adobe audition. thanks

    Just stop using "What U Hear" as a recording source. If you're using ASIO, the ASIO Mix L works like "What U Hear".
    As recording source, use microphone for microphone and line-in (or AnalogMix()) for line-in sources.
    For monitoring, there is a checkbox behind a tiny red plus sign in CT Surround Mixer (or behind advanced button in windows audio I/O controls) you may need to set (this setting and recording source selection from ct surround mixre/windows recording controls has no affect when you're using ASIO device driver mode in software).

  • Why I have to mute Audio Voice Recording Track always in order to subdue the voice recorded when I want to solo other tracks, audio or midi for listening.The other audio tracks don't sound without being muted. Please advise how to deal with this .Thanks

    Why I have to mute the Audio Voice recording track  ( the first voice track ) always in order to sudue its recorded sound while I want to listen to other
    tracks ( either audio or midi tracks ) in solo ?The other audio tracks with voice recording do not have to be muted in order not to  interfere with other
    tracks turned on solo. Can someone kindly explain this phenomenon and any way to fix this ?
    Thanks
    Dan

    Thanks, ATR,
    I wll try this--but I still am unclear on how to do what the Manual says is possible: select clips on another track that WILL be moved, if I so desire, so as to remain synched to the main Video track.
    UPDATE:
    In the case of inserting Freeze Frame, I just tried both Ctrl method and Alt method, and neither worked.
    1. Put Video on Vid1 track
    2. Put Music on Sound Track
    3. Ran a few seconds of Vid
    4. Stopped Vid, selected Freeze Frame
    5. Held down Ctrl key while clicking "Insert in Movie"  also tried with holding down Alt key.
    Result: a 3 second still was inserted int the Vid1 track.  A corresponding gap was created in the Sound Track.
    6. Slid the final part of the Sound Track to the left along the timeline to re-connect it to the next segment created by the above process.
    Result: the video following the final Freeze Frame was pushed to the right end of  Video1 track.
    7. Slid the Sound Track all the way to the left.
    Result: the entire Video 1 Track contents were pushed to the right and divided in pieces.
    I documented each step with screen shots which I can send if you want them and if I can figure out how to do it.
    UPDATE #2
    In the case of inserting a video clip to the Timeline, I just tried both Ctrl method and Alt method, and neither worked.
    1. Locate video in Project Assets
    2a. R click video in Project Assets (pull-down menu appears), hold down Ctrl, click Insert to Timeline.
    Result: Vid clip is inserted on Video 1 track, Sound Track is separated with a corresponding gap.
    2b.  R click video in Project Assets (pull-down menu appears), push Alt
    Result: pull-down menu disappears as soon as Alt is pushed down.
    I can stil drag the Vid clip but it's one more manual step...I love shortcuts!!

  • Playback of a Smart guitar recording track skips some notes.

    I recorded a track using the Smart guitar in Garageband on my iPad2 and recorded a track of 130 bars. The recording was smooth and I could hear all chords and strings play well. However, when i play my recording, it skips several notes in between and I only hear broken audio. When I slide the track bar behind on the piece of track which skipped the notes, and play again, the recorded notes sound correct. Am I doing something wrong or is this an issue?

    I have GarageBand on my iPad 2 and there are no latency problems with Smart Guitar during recording. I've encountered the problem only on the iPhone 4s. If I'm not mistaken, the iPad 2 and iPhone 4s have identical RAM amounts and identical processors, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Perhaps the software is not adequately optimized for the iPhone. I hope the GarageBand engineers are monitoring these forums....

  • What connectors do I need for my ipad so I can connect it to my apogee duet 2 interface essentially using the ipad as an instrument utilizing a few of the synth and drum machine apps to record tracks into Logic on my Mac?

    Ok, so I completely feel like this is a stupid question for those of you already in the know and recording tracks onto your Computers DAW from instrument apps on the iPad and other i devices. I can not seem to find out exactly what connector or unit I need to be able to connect and use my ipad as a instrument to record tracks onto logic. I have an ipad2 that I want to connect to my apogee duet 2 interface which is obviously connected to my Mac. I know Logic comes with plenty of drum and synth options but I still want to be able to use beatmaker, jam up pro and the sunrizer synth apps on some of my tracks. I do have the camera conversion adaptors. So my question is, do I just run from the camera adapter in the ipad into the midi port on my apogee interface? (I'm new to and still learning about midi) Or is there a special 30 pin cable I need to get that runs from the ipad into the XLR or quarter inch in the break out cables on the apogee? I did find one cord out there that plugged into the ipad and had left and right XLR connectors but my duets break out cable only has two inputs each is their own channel. Also , if the cable I need isn't midi  and does connect to the breakout cables, do I set it as an instrument or as a mic in the apogee software? Or am I completely way off base and needing something different all together. Any help would be much appreciated!
    I have a fare amount of experience when it comes to recording, set up and the flow of standard instruments, using external hardware and plugins. But the last few weeks I spent a lot of time programming some great beats in beatmaker on my ipad and I want to track them into Logic. It seemed like no matter how I worded the questions when researching what I thought was and should be simple to figure it out, it just took me to answers I wasn't looking for. Thank you ahead of time. Like I said I'm just starting to get out of my comfort zone and learn about midi and the more digital side of things. So sorry about any ignorance concerning that side of things.

    The new Apogee Duet for iPad and Mac, is compaible with iOS devices and includes a USB Midi input. This sounds like the perfect solution for your workflow.

  • Using Garageband and I cannot hear previously recorded tracks on headphones.  Prefs are set to output on EMU0404 my audio device - this did work but now is not working.

    I am using Garageband and I cannot hear the previously recorded tracks on my headphones.  I am using an audio input/output device, EMU0404 - this was previously working fine but stopped.  All cables check out OK and so does the unit - I have updated to the latest version of Garageband but this did not help.  Any suggestion?

    Hi Christoph,
    I cannot see anything wrong with the EMU0404.  This is what puzzels me ... Garageband looks OK - headphones are OK - EMU looks OK.
    Thanks anyway

  • How do I burn a recorded track, on logic pro?

    How do I burn a recorded track, on logic pro?

    Bad?
    I am far from an expert at Logic, but I found making a .wav file or .MP3 file fairly easy.
    Using the edit menj, I select all the tracts in my arrnage window.  Having done that I bounce the selected tract to my audio hard drive, having named it.
    I can then import that audio file and others into Itunes and then burn a list of compositions onto a CD.
    There must be several variations on that process but that one works well for me.

  • I'm trying to record audio into my iPad2 using GarageBand and an iRig, but I can't monitor my tracks at the same time as recording, meaning if I lay down a drum track and attempt to record guitar, I can't hear the drums while recording. Thoughts?

    I'm trying to record audio into my iPad2 using GarageBand and an iRig, but I can't monitor my tracks at the same time as recording, meaning if I lay down a drum track and attempt to record guitar, I can't hear the drums while recording. Thoughts?

    Hi, I have this exact same problem. I haven't been using an iRig, just a cheap USB-jack cable. I managed to do this with the first cable I bought, but since it broke I've been unable to find a replacement that allows me to hear the drums while recording. DId you manage to get over this issue? If so I would really like to know how. Thanks and best wishes.

  • Recording on a track, while listening to another track...

    Hi
    Basically I currently have a blank track armed for recording with effects, and I have track 2 with an instrumental track.  On the third track I have a song that I would like to listen to while recording, BUT not turn up in the recoding.  Currently all 3 tracks turn up in the recording.  I would only like track 1 and 2 to be in the final product.  I need to listen to track 3 for reference.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    I have Adition 3.0 with antares autotune installed on a PC, if this helps.
    Thanks!

    Hi Steve
    Thanks so much for your reply.  I am still a bit confused as to what exactly I have to do as this is really my first day using Adobe for my project.
    Basically I have gone to the Windows mixer recording and I can verify that only the Mic that I am using is selected.  That is good.
    I have the audition mix to "always input" so I can hear what my recording is 'live'.
    When you mention re routing things to inputs, would this be in the Adobe auditon program, or windows.
    I would think that what I'm trying to do is very basic, which is setting the first track 'armed for record', which works fine (although I realize you said it will be dry until I 'save as an mp3' (i think))
    the second track will be the 'instrumental track' which I would like to be in the final output without track 3
    track 3 is the full song (with lyrics and instrument) which I just need for when I'm recording so I know when to say certain words and such..
    the problem is, is when I go to record (with the mic), I am recording all 3 tracks, which is logical, but i only want my recording to end up having track 2 (instrumental) and track 1 (my mic) ....
    is there no way I can simply select which tracks to end up in the recording on track 1?
    also, track one I believe, once I've recorded, has all 3 tracks combined, which I only want to have track 1 and 2.
    also, when i got to edit--> rewire setup, and click 'enable' ...it says I have no re wire programs on my computer....
    maybe i have to select my track 3 for "read, write, touch, latch" settings (which are all currently set to 'read')?
    sorry if I'm making things more complicated then they have to be...just need to get cracking on this asap....
    thanks!

  • Can't hear an audio track that I have recorded.

    I recorded an audio track through my preamp to my motu interface and it displayed the wave form in the track but I never heard it through the headphones of the interface when I was monitoring and during recording or in playback. I did in that project. hear all the other midi files I had been arranging. This seems strange I can see it but not hear it. I checked my audio set up to run in and out of the PCI on the Motu unit. So where is that sound then?
    thanks for your gracious help.
    Jason.

    Is the audio file placed on an audio track (no instrument or midi track)?
    Did you select the correct output for this audio track?
    (sorry for the question: any mute or solo buttons turned on?)
    To hear your recording signal during recording you have either to switch "Software monitoring" to on or use the direct monitoring of your audio interface. Software monitoring routes the recorded signal through logic which will cause latency. Direct monitoring will reduce latency but you have to setup your audio-interface mixer properly.
