Help- 2 kids with new IPOD Touches, how do I have separate accounts?

I want them each to have their own Apple account, each have their own separate e-mail address that I just set up and I want to make it so they can only purchase things in their own accounts on Itunes with gift cards they receive and not linked to my credit card.
These are the first Apple products we have owned and I am lost!!!
Thanks!

Just create the accounts.  Note that the minimum age is 13.

I am running iTunes on an IBM compatible system running Windows XP with a relatively small hard disk (70gb). I have 4 kids with 4 IPOD Touches, multiple IPOD Nanos, etc. Their apps and album art are eating up the hard disk space. I changed the Media Folder through Edit, Prferences, Advances, iTunes Media Folder to an external hard disk. The new music downloads and purchases go there but the apps and other items do not. How do I get the apps and other iTunes software and downloads to go to the external hard disk

There is no built in function to make this happen.
    Your options are:
    Upgrade the existing hard drive.
Try creating a link for the app folder on the external drive... this may or may not work.
Realistically, a larger hard drive is a better solution, then use the external drive for keeping a backup of the ENTIRE iTunes folder and any other personal data on the system.

  • I just purchased a new ipod touch so now I have two. I do not want the second ipod touch to sync the same as the old ipod touch - 2 people with 2 different music preferences. How do I keep them separate.

I just purchased a new ipod touch so now I have two. I do not want the second ipod touch to sync the same as the old ipod touch - 2 people with 2 different music preferences. How do I keep them separate.

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • Help setting up my new IPod Touch on iTunes on windows 7 64bit

    Hello there,
I need help setting up my new IPod Touch to my Itunes 10 application on a PC running windows 7 64bit. I have watched the tutorial on how to do it but what the tutorial says it is supposed to do is not what is happenning for me:
    1. In the tutorial it tells you to connect your ipod to your computer, then, (if it is for the first time) when the ipod appears and is selected, a window will come up allowing you to name your ipod, and begin selecting the options you wish to use.
I did as instructed but quickly came against some technical issues.
    My issues:
1-1: When I selected the new iPod Touch for the dirst time I got an error message.
    A) This was quickly fixed once I calld up apple support on the phone (turns out an IE browser setting was blocking it.)
1-2: With that fixed I selected my iPod Touch again but instead of the window indicated by the tutorial, I instead got an iPod registration form window.
1-3: I filled out the form and pressed the submit button (thinking everything was fine), then a new window came up that looks like this:
    Free Find My iPhone
    Free Find My iPad
    Free Find My iPod touch
Set up Find My iPhone for free so you can locate your device if you lose it, remotely lock the screen, or wipe its data. The first three lines and the first paragraph are indented as if there should be some type of graphic there, but it is missing. The underlined words indicate that they are supposed to be links, but they don't go anywhere, they are broken!
Now wheenever I connect my iPod Touch and select it the above window comes up and nomatter what I try it will not move or change.
    Please help!

  • HT1296 I have a new ipod touch, how do i transfer my albums from my itunes libriary to it?

I have a new ipod touch, how do I transfer my music from my itunes library to my new ipod?

The same goes for everything you want on your iDevice, you synchronize it with iTunes.
It takes the same process for other items like Apps, Photos, Videos, Books, Ring Tones, Podcasts, etc.
iTunes is the window to your iDevices, to see what's on your device and sync things to it.
Personally I would rather a simple USB-drive method of putting things on and sort things how I would like them, but iTunes is the way Apple has done it.

  • Why earphone without mic with new iPod Touch 4g?

I am die-hard fan of Apple products. Have recently bought iPod Touch 4th Gen. But failed to understand why did Apple ship micless-earphones with new iPod Touch?
iPod Touch 3rd Gen used to have earphone with mic and remote buttons.
I know, new iTouch has inbuilt mic, but since mic & volume controls are missing on earphones, I can't talk wih my handsfree! just because the mic is on iTouch panel.
    Disappointed!!
Any chances for Apple to get this earphone replaced for new iPod Touch owner?

You can purchase the headphones with mic here:

  • Can't sync music with new iPod Touch. Help!

I recently received a new iPod Touch for Christmas. However, last night, my moniter on my computer stopped working. So, until I was able to purchase a new one, I simply hooked up and old moniter to my hard drive so I could use my computer.
This moniter is very old, and considerably smaller than my other one, but I thought that it would work just fine. But today, I went to register my new ipod, and the registration screen on itunes was way too small. I could only see about three fourths of the page. I was unable to see and press certain buttons that I would need to in order to register my ipod and sync my music.
So, I went on the iTunes website and went ahead and registered my ipod there. Now, when I plugged in my ipod again, it was still asking me to register it on itunes, but I can't because of my screen. and I can't scroll left or right, because there isn't even a scroll bar.
My ipod is already registered, but now, does anyone know how I can skip the itunes registering process so I can just go ahead and get my music?
    Thanks!

Yes, I did that. But my screen is too small, so when it comes to the Terms and Conditions page, the only options I can see are Cancel and Save.
I already registered the iPod on the iTunes website. Can I go ahead and sync my music now? Or must I go through a registration process on the iTunes program in order to get my music?

  • New iPod touch - How to make it a Palm Pilot

OK. My new iPod Touch (16GB) is on order (ordered on day 1) - I have my Mobile Me account up and running and my iCal and my Mail accounts are synced.
My reason for buying the new iPod touch is to replace my Palm Pilot (Tungsten E). I was able to export/import 6 years worth of Palm data to iCal – now I need to be able to use iCal on the iPod touch to see/edit my daily schedules on the road – and to sync and see them on several Macs at home and in the studio.
I just watched the new Apple video about the new iPod touch – and, frankly, it came across as a 1) a teen-age game machine, 2) a movie player, and 3) a music box. Nothing in the video promo spoke to iCal on a Touch – or using the iPod touch as a business tool – other than Safari and email.
There are a million new apps available, but I don’t have time to test them all. This is what I need:
    1) A iPod Touch version of Docs To Go. I want to make a document (file- text –letter) on my Mac (in Word, for example) – and then download it to the touch to read (and edit) on the road – and then re-sync changes made on the Touch with Mobile Me and my Macs.
    2) To Do lists that sync between Mobile Me – my Macs and the Touch – with the ability to make/edit the To Do from the Mac or the Touch.
    3) Search capability to find events, To-Dos, and documents (such as a letter) in the iPod Touch. That is a great feature of the Palm Pilot – I can see when I was last in a city with a simple search – or find a calendar entry with a customer’s name – even from several years ago.
    And:
    4) a Forum that addresses how to use the iPod Touch as a business tool – rather than as a game/music/video machine – essentially how to replace a BlackBerry or a Palm Pilot with and iPod Touch.
I have ZERO AT&T coverage where I live and work – so the iPhone is a no go for me. I will keep my Verizon cell phone and get rid of the Palm Pilot – if I can make the Touch behave as a tool rather than as a toy.
So – What APPS should I get ready to use?

    Hi,
I have done the transition from a Palm Treo to the iPod Touch. As has been said the Apps are not as mature as with the Palm. You do need to be creative. I went with OmniFocus, both the ipod app and the desktop app. The desktop app will sync with iCal but I feel it should be the master. Not the cheapest route but very solid.
Direct MS Word compatibility I haven't seen yet. It will be there I am sure. The Notes app works fine for writing and you can email notes to yourself and copy the text out to what ever program you choose. No cut Copy Paste yet either so real word processing is not a reality. Docs to Go was pretty good.
There is CSV touch that will load any CSV file. Excel sheets. Also the idb Datamaster pro. Worth looking at. It is a database system that can import and export again in csv.
I have PocketMoney to record financials. It will sync through QIF files with Quicken. I say sync but it really just imports and exports QIF files. Takes some creative handleing not to end up with duplictae transactions. I figured out a work around and it saves keeping the paper around till I get to my computer.
File Magnet is really great. Drag anything to it and it will be loaded for viewing ( only) on the Touch.
The sync with iCal, Email and Contacts is excellent. I use this system daily for all my appointments and work schedules.
I don't bother with the games but it is cool to listen to music in the car with one device.
Having real internet in your hand instead of the klunky Treo browser is so much better. Safari is functional enough to do my online banking.
iFlix is really functional for Netflix. My Weather for weather forcast. Gives local animated radar.
So.. It is a new platform. It will have growing pains but it is functional and innovative.
Browse the App Store. Most are cheap enough that you can try without costing too much. The reviews are mostly helpful if you weed through the jokers.
I carry mine all the time. It finds internet all over without me doing anything. Battery life is acceptable for the most part. Just listening to music it lasts plenty long. Wifi and constant browsing or apps will run it down quicker. Consider that like watching a video. I use it in my car with a TransPod FM adapter. It charges the battery while it is playing. Works out fine that way. I get a full day of use and then the night always on without any worries. The ride to work charges it up enough.
Hope this helps. I love mine.

  • Youtube slow with New iPod Touch update?

It seems when i got the new iPod touch/ iPhone update the youtube seems to be slower than ever. It takes like 10 minutes to download a video. Anyone else having this problem or know how to solve it?

The iPod's YouTube application streams video from YouTube and doesn't download it. Anyway, however you are doing it, the speed depends entirely on the quality of your WiFi connection. The 2.2.1 update only made some minor corrections and did not have anything to do with WiFi.

  • Trouble logging into App Store with new iPod touch

I just got a brand new iPod touch 4th Gen.
I went through all the set-up info and got it running.
I wanted to get some apps so I went to the app store. there is asked for my name and password. when i enter the info I keep getting this message
"Could not log in. An unknown error has occurred"
Now I know I entered the correct username and password cause I was able to log into here with the same info. Anyone have any clue on how to fix this?
    Thanks.

Stores are all offline today due to server problems.

  • 14 yr old with new iPod touch, is there software to track internet & chat

    Hello all,
I have a 14 year old with a new iPod touch, is there an application to track/log facebook/chat. Even if it is an application that will dump data from iPod to my email. Not sure what is available. Thank you so much.

    Hi,
There are a couple parental controls apps like a browser called "K9 Web Protection Browser," and stuff like that. But it only blocks images and stuff like that. If you go into Settings>General>Restrictions you can block Safari altogether. But I don't think any of these answer your question.
    Hope this helps anyway!

  • Problems with new ipod touch gen3

    Hi,
I just got a new ipod touch and i have problems connecting it with my WRT54GX ver 2 wirelles router. It shows that is connected but when i check the IP it has the default 169.254.202.45  one which means that the AP did not assign an IP. I tried with static IP and although in the log it shows outgoing communication from that IP the ipod does not connect to the internet.
A PC and a blackberry are working fine with this AP and the ipod has worked fine in my house (RUKOUS AP) and in two cofeeshops.
Anyone else having a similar problem?
    Thanks
    John

thanks for the suggestion but it did not work.
The iPod came up asking for the password (WEP key) and i entered it. It showed connected with the router but Safari does not work and when i check the DHCP entries in see the following
    IP: 169.254.202.45
    Sub: 255.255.0.0
This means that the connection was made but the router DHCP server did not assign an IP address to the iPod.
This exact problem i have encoutered so far in my office, a cofeeshop and a car dealership. In all cases the wirelles was based on an older linksys router and except in the case of my office the other two were unsecured networks.
I believe it has something to do with the firmware on those linksys routers causing a problem specificaly to iPods and i would guess iPhones too since they have the same OS.
I'm open to any suggestions but i've tried all the ones posted in this and other forums so far with no luck.
When i assign a static IP, the iPod again connects, the router log indicates outgoing traffic from that IP but there is no incomming traffic.

  • Mail sync issue with new iPod Touch

I have been unable to successfully perform an initial mail sync using my new iPod Touch 32 GB with Version 3.1.1.
All is being successfully sync'd with the exception of mail. The error box when I click on mail with the iTouch reads - "Cannot Get Mail - The connection to the server mail.me.com failed"
I have an active .Mac account. I can successfully log into "mobileme" via my G5 1.8 dual running OS X 10.5.8. My cable web provider is Comcast in the Middle TN area.
Thanks in advance with any suggestions.
    Djay

I found my "issue" is not an issue when I was able to access WiFi. The touch downloaded my messages! I was naively "assuming" that the initial setup via iTunes would have provided my initial message download.
Marking this "false alarm" as solved. I'll avoid "jumping the gun" on my next hurdle.

  • Student deal: macbook pro with new ipod touch facetime????

Hi I see that the new ipod touch with facetime is on the apple web page.
On education store, it says I can buy any apod and mac and apple will refund 219 CAD (Canadian store).
Is this deal works for the new ipod touch? I don't need mac immidiately but I can buy it if the new touch is free. From terms, it says any ipod but rebate form is old, and does not include new models.
PS: I can buy the new ipod touch and mac book but if I buy mac first they redirect me to old ipod page. Crap.
    Any one knows?

    Hi
I am refering to these pages:
Click on Learn more about iPod touch on the following page. Tou will see the new touch page. I see that they write "qualifying ipod" in rebate form.
*Buy a qualifying Mac and iPod with Apple education pricing from May 25, 2010, through September 7, 2010, and receive a mail-in rebate up to $219. 8GB iPod touch is second generation.
That is bad that they introduce this during the promotion and doesn't give it to current students. Actually they give any ipod except these new ones.
I would buy the mac book but I guess I will wait another year.
