Help! 80gb Classic ipod - wont go any further than the license agreement.

Hi,
Hope somebody can help - just bought a 80gb classic after my old one died.
I've plugged it in to my computer and it comes up with connecting, goes into itunes and shows me the licensing agreement. Ive then ticked the box saying that i have read it then clicked saved which then takes me to wherever i want it saved. Clicked ok then it goes back to itunes and doesnt do anything, its just left on the licensing agreement page.
Ive taken off my previous itunes and reloaded with the current itunes with still no avail - also switched off norton anti-virus which doesnt seem to be affecting it.
Anybody have any ideas what it could be?

Are you seeing a Continue button anywhere? Click the little Agree box then the Continue button, there's no need to save the agreement. If you aren't seeing all the buttons try increasing your screen resolution to at least 1024x768 so you can see the whole page: iTunes window does not display all options

Try starting your computer by holding down the command + R keys, then run disk utility on your hard drive. If you are running a version of Mac OS X 10.6 or lower you will need to try to start you MacBook with the original DVD. Take a look at this link, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1782?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

  • Using Mac OSX Install Disc 1, I am not able to get any further than the Partition tab.  It allows me to select my hard drive selection, but will not allow me to make any other selections.  Does anyone know their way around this obstacle?  Thanks!

Using Mac OSX Install Disc 1, I am not able to get any further than the Partition tab.  It allows me to select my hard drive selection, but will not allow me to make any other selections such as options.  Does anyone know their way around this obstacle?  Am I doing anything wrong?  Thanks

Hello, The Hatter, I read about the 'trick' of backing up, erasing, and restoring too, but I figured it would take longer than defragmenting the disk.
But the defragmentation process has just finished! so I'm gonna try to run Boot Camp again soon!
    Thanks for your helpfulness, anyway.
And P.S. I didn't clone my system onto the external drive, I just inserted the Mac OS X Install CD, rebooted holding down the "C" key, and installed a fresh Snow Leopard system onto the predetermined partition. I will use that in cases of emergency, when my main/internal system becomes unusable.

    Which iBook do you have?

Which version of the OS is installed, and which version are you trying to install?
You could try starting up with Startup Manager and see if it will allow you to select the OS X install disc as the startup disk. If so, maybe you can proceed from there. I would recommend repairing the hard drive first since you are evidently having a bit of a problem with it.

  • The FaceTime app on my iPod touch refuses to go any further than the email verification part of the setup process. It just goes back to the sign in screen every time. How can I fix this?

My built in FaceTime app on my iPod touch will not proceed from the email verification step of the setup process. I have tried going into settings like app support showed but when I click FaceTime it just shows the sign in screen just like before and does the same thing. Please help me to fix this.

    Hey there,
I would check out this site. It may not say anything about your problem, but it still might be able to fix it. It's worth a shot.

Or you can attempt this method as given by turingtest2, but only if you hook it up to your PC.

  • My ipod wont show any notifications on the lock screen and it did before. what should i do to fix this?

HI so i no longer receive notifications on my lock screen when someone texts me or a twitter notification comes up or anything and i dont know what to do about it

If this is the problem following the instruction.  Frequently it is a hardware problem.
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
Otherwise try (assuming that other devices see your network)
    - A reset. Nothing wil be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power of and then back on your router.
    - Reset network settings: Settings>Genral>Reset>Reset Network Settings

  • Not getting any further than the spinning rainbow

    Hi,
I used my MSDN benefits to activate windows Azure on my account. However all I get when I go into Azure Dashboard, all I get is the spinning blue rainbow, which doesn't seem to go away no matter how long I leave it. I'm logging in with IE10, but I think
something must be stuck at the backend.
It did seem to take my activation from MSDN when I set it up and if I now go into my MSDN account it allows me to activate it, but then tells me "It appears that you have already used your MSDN benefit for a Windows Azure subscription.", which
I think it did, only it's stuck at the last step.
    Help!

    Hi TonyBlongs,
As the azure dashboard (http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/support/service-dashboard/) show,A certain number of customers (small number) may experience inability to log into their
Management Portal. Now the repair steps have been successfully. Please try it.
And you also could change browser mode to compatible mode.
    Regards,
    Will

  • My ipod touch won't go further than the apple symbol

Any help available, as my ipod touch won't go any further than the apple symbol

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

  • 80gb Classic iPod won't stay on

I went to update the 80gb classic ipod I just bought today and first their was an error message that said it couldn't update. Now the ipod just keeps turning off and on by itself but when it turns on, it doesn't go completely on. It shows the screen w/ the apple then turns off. I tried resetting and nothing. Can't even power off to get it to stop, it just keeps doing it over and over. I'll take it in if I need to but really want to save the trip if I can tomorrow. Any help???? Thanks!

It seems, further to my previous message, that there is a fault that will, for some reason rectify itself with a COMPLETE 24 hour "resting" of the ipod, then plugging it into the AC adaptor, letting it charge.
After, "restore" it from your macbook. I had problems with my macbook, and after relaunching finder and itunes several times, it finally recognised it. once recognised and in itunes, "restore".
I suspect that the new ipods come preloaded with something that the computers do not like (or vice versa) and require a complete and utter rstoring before they successfully sync. I also suspect that - indeed file extensions MAY cause problems. I wonder, as it had "cover flow", it browses through EVERYTHING on it, and anything with an Operating system "alien" file will cause the ipod to restart continuously (e.g. if yer running OSX, a "wmv" file MAY cause exceptions; vice versa, on Windows, it might be a "dmg" file).
Furthermore, the "enable disk use" may have something to do with the problems??
Only guesses but any problems, the Apple stores themselves (including their helplines) are superb! Very helpful.

  • 80gb Classic iPod is dying on me (Not Starting, Not Recognised...etc)

    Hi
I have an 80gb classic iPod and I am having major trouble with it.
It started with the iPod showing the Apple logo screen for a long time then a multilingual message saying I need to "Restore using iTunes" I have no problem with restoring, yet once I connect it to my Macbook Pro it is not recognised, not even in Disk Utility nor the USB list (from System Profiler). Now it doesn't even show the "Restore Using iTunes" message and just gets frozen on the Apple logo.
It does however charge, I attempted the whole resetting thing but to no avail.
Interestingly, the iPod automatically switches to 'Disk Mode' when I keep it connected to the computer, with the blinking "Do Not Disconnect" in old school screen. So I hurry to check with Disk Utility, NOTHING.
So basically nor iTunes or the computer recognise it, and I want to restore it but it's being non responsive and I could seriously use some help trying something on my own before the trip to the shiny Apple Dealer here.
    Thanks in Advance.

Well, here are a few other suggestions:
try a different cable - one of the pins on your cable may be damaged
try connecting to a different computer
try connecting it to a different USB port on your computer
try connecting it through a powered USB hub
If none of these work, the only other suggestion would be to bring it (or send it) somewhere for diagnosis and repair. There are a few sites here in the States that offer this service, and I'm sure there is something available in the UK as well. They tend to be less expensive than asking Apple to service an iPod.
I am not a Mac person (Windows for me), so I cannot give you any tips on attacking the problem from that side of things.

  • I have bought a 2nd hand late 2008 macbook air and can't install iPhoto as it requires update 10.9 or higher i can't seem to update any further than 10.7.5 help???

I have bought a 2nd hand late 2008 macbook air and can't install iPhoto as it says it requires update 10.9 or higher i can't seem to update any further than 10.7.5 can anyone help please???

Thankyou for your response... being new to this i have had a look and it says the following
This system can run the last version of OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion" as well as the current version of OS X 10.9 "Mavericks," but does not support the AirDrop, AirPlay Mirroring, or Power Nap features. It is not supported booting into 64-bit mode when running Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard." It does support "OpenCL" and Grand Central Dispatch introduced with Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard."
Please note that OS X "Lion" 10.7 and subsequent versions of OS X, like Mountain Lion and Mavericks, are not capable of running Mac OS X apps originally written for the PowerPC processor as these operating systems do not support the "Rosetta" environment. To run PowerPC applications on this Mac, it will be necessary to use Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" or earlier
    what do i do next
Thankyou once again for your reply
