Help a comp noob ... TSMService.exe freezes my Lenovo X-41 Tablet. Why, oh why?

I have a Lenovo X-41 Think Pad tablet laptop. When I start it, it freezes up with CPU at 100%. Only going in the Task Manager and ending the process: TSMService.exe drops the CPU down. Then, the comp works fine (the TSMResident.exe is still there and doesn't need to be ended). The TSMService.exe seems to be a Lenovo program. Anyone know what's going on here? What does TSMService.exe do for the comp?
Anything I can do about all this?

Same issue with TSM Resident. Wonder if it's related?
I have an issue that is plaguing my ThinkPad X230 Tablet. I cannot afford to be without it for a week to send it into the depot and am not sure they will be able to replicate the issue even if I do.
Two things are happening.
Tablet is placed in the docking station. If I turn it on, it will lock up at the ThinkPad screen and never fully load Windows (Win 7 64-bit). If I take it out of the docking station, hard crash it, and then restart, it will start right up. I then wait for the Windows home screen and place back in the docking station. When I do this, TSM Resident immediately quits. This is recurrent. The error message is:

First off, what could be causing the hang up when the Tablet is in the docking station?
Second, what is TSM Resident and how do I get it to stop crashing when I put the tablet into the docking station?
I plan to call a local Lenovo service center to see if I can bring everything in to them (monitor and peripherals included) to see if they can fix it, but would like to know if anyone has experience fixing this type of problem first as that is a lot of work to drag dual 27 inch monitors, external drives, USB router, etc in so they can see the exact setup. Thank you.

I had a very similiar issue and this worked for me:

I just found a fix that has worked for many other users with the same 10.5.3.3 issue and it fixed a seperate issue where Apple Mobile Device service drives up CPU by 50-80%.
The fix is to open a command prompt as an Administrator and run c:\netsh winsock reset After running this commad you will need to reboot.

Although my account is the only Windows 7 account and is an Administrator, I still could not run the command above. I first had to open a Command Prompt as an Admistrator:
1) From the main Windows icon (bottom left Windows Flag), select All Programs
2) Then select Accessories
3) Then right mouse click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
4) execute "netsh winsock reset" and reboot
After performing the steps above, iTunes Store is working great and the CPU with iTunes loaded is averaging less than 10%....A MIRACLE!!!!

X200 Tablet - BSOD -caused by tsmservice.exe

X200Tablet 7453BD5
BIOS vers.: 7WET71WW (3.21)
I installed a SSD on my Notebook. I installed Windows 7 on it (more than 5 times), the former OS was Vista on the shipped Notebook.
The Software which causes the BSOD is the service 'TabletSVC'/'TABLET Service' with the execution TSMService.exe. If I stop the service or even not allow to start automated it with Windows. I have no problems with shuting down (restart, hibernate, power off) within 15s the notebook is off.
If the service is still running I probably see the shuting down Window for about feeled 10 Minutes until it shows me an BSOD.

I also installed the system step by step over the lenovo System update, so I saw what caused the problem. Now I use a shortcut on my desktop which do an net stop 'Tablet Service' and an shutdown. That's functionally but not nice.

This is caused by an incompatibility between tsmservice.exe and some versions of Lenovo Power Management driver.
Can you check what version of Lenovo Power Management driver is installed?
You need version 1.67.4.5 (or older), or else 1.67.9.3 (or newer).
Versions in between cause this problem. Sorry for this inconvenience.

Cannot install on Windows 7 setup.exe freezes.

Hi I am trying to install Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection from a DVD by running the setup.exe however, it freezes at around 90% and I cannot continue any farther. I have tried copying the dvd to my hard drive and that gives me the same result. It also did the same thing when I had XP SP3 and I never found a solution. I really need to get this installed so I can finsh a clients site so any help is aprieciated.

I must stress the most annoying thing about it is the fact that Adobe clearly lies in stating that ( in my case CS3) should work on Windows 7. In the article: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/508/cpsid_50853.html on the website there is a claim CS3 has been tested on Windows 7 and should work.....
"In the article `Support policy for Acrobat 7 and 8 on Windows Vista...` no other conclusion is possible. In his answer Bob Levine admitted that Adobe 7 and 8 are supported in Vista.
And of course we can fight about the number of applications working well in Vista but not in Windows 7 and that (quoting Bob:) ´some` applications from C3 work fine in Windos 7.

But that doesn´t make sense in the light of the promises Adobe makes about CS3 in Windows 7 on its website.
So my complaint is still the same... don't lie on internet about things you must later take back for the sake of commerce. I personally made my decision to upgrade (from XP) to Windows 7 partly because I should still be able to use CS3 (including Acrobat 8).
Adobe is highly (probably even more than Microsoft) arrogant to users who bought their expensive products..

Exe freezes on opening slide

I've created seven movies using captivate 2 and published
them as exe's - the first is pure demonstration and requires no
user interaction, the other 6 are a combination of demonstration
and simulation and do require user input at times. I posted them to
my company's intranet for feedback before general release and the
first two users to test them cannot run modules 2 - 7. The movies
freeze either immediately or after the first slide plays. They run
perfectly on the two machines I tested them on, so I assumed user
error - perhaps they simply weren't clicking when directed, but,
unfortunately, that is not the case. Has anyone ever seen this?
I've been using Captivate for years and have never had this
problem. More chillingly, I don't see any discussion about it in
the support forum. I've got a huge amount of egg on my face at the
moment, and would really appreciate any direction on what might be

Like Rick, I thought the .exe was something like the Flash
Player and
the Captivate SWF 'zipped-up' together. So when the user
clicks the
.exe, it essentially unzips those items and tells the SWF to
open using
the Flash Player that was included.
Apparently that's not the case?
If that IS how it works, it could be a permissions issue? The
.exe is
not allowed to unzip on the user's computer? A security thing
since the
.exe was downloaded from an http location, even though it was
your own
intranet?
If this is an intranet, why publish and make available as
.exe's? Why
not publish simply as HTML/SWF? Don't want to rely on Flash
to run?

Help! DVI to VGA Adapter freeze mein Mac

Hallo, ich have yesterday bought a DVI to VGA Adapter. I connect my Macbookpro 15 to my PC Monitor a NOKIA 446Xpro Multigraph.
Everything looks fine, but when everytime my Mac goes to sleep mode and back to activ again it said no Signal and my Mac Freeze. Everything just don´t move.. Everytime this happen i have to test the Harddisc and repair it.
It´s happen only when i connect my Nokia Monitor. Could someone help me what i should do? Is there some Software for my Monitor?

The topic has mostly become quiet since 10.5.1 because that seems to have fixed most people's issue. But I see you are already running 10.5.1 so that is not helping in your case apparently. You might try reading the above thread backwards from the most recent posts to see if you get any other ideas for a fix. Good luck.

Please Help- iWorks and web browsers keep freezing!

I left for a family affair two weeks ago with my MacBook acting normal as usual. I returned about a week ago to this issue I can't seem to resolve!
For starters- I am unable to use Firefox, which is the browser I normally use (I never use Safari, until now that is). I open it in the dock, it bounces for an unusually long amount of time, the page comes up but does not load, then the rainbow wheel pops up and Firefox eventually quits "unexpectedly" or due to "inactivity". If I try to force quit, the Finder freezes, the dock freezes, and I am unable to do anything but sit and wait. I've restarted several times and that hasn't fixed the issue.
So now I've been using Safari, which has also been giving me troubles. If I have two or more tabs open and the same time and continue to load pages at the same time and float between tabs frequently, Safari freezes up and eventually quits. If I try to force quit, the same thing happens as does with Firefox.
Also, I am unable to use Pages or Numbers (the only two applications I've seemingly had trouble with so far). Pages doesn't even pull up a document I try to open or pull up a blank page -- it just pinwheels and quits. If I try to force quit, the same thing happens as does with Firefox, the finder and the dock freeze up and I am unable to do anything but force a restart or sit and wait. Same with Numbers. It asks me if I want to open a blank page, and if I click yes, then my dear friend pinwheel pops up again.
I don't know too much about Macs, though I've never owned a windows, but I've been reporting my problems to apple numerous times (with no return) and I've been searching through other mac-related websites and they're forums. One forum suggested repairing the disk, which I don't know anything about, but did and that still hasn't helped.
I hope someone knows what's going on with my mac because I sure don't!

I am having this same problem and I have NO idea what is causing it. I have been searching high and low for an answer, and nothing seems to be appearing. The only thing I could think now is to maybe re-install Firefox. That is the browser I have been using and that this has happened in.

Podcast help for a noob

Hey guys, noob to podcasts.
My problem:
I subscribe to a podcast, and it starts downloading the podcast program. It downloads for a bit, then stops, so I go to the podcast part of the library, and double click the program to play it, but all it does is start downloading again.
I've tried various programs, but it just does the same thing with each one.
Help!

HELP! Problem using HPSCAN.exe or TWAIN driver for HP Laserjet Pro cm1415fnw using Windows 7

I have been using the HP Laserjet Pro cm1415fnw for over a year without a problem. At the time when I first purchased the unit, I was using a Dell desktop with Windows XP and connected the printer via USB port. I was able to print and scan from my computer, including from within applications that use TWAIN scanning driver such as Word, Acrobat, etc.
I have since upgraded to an HP slimline s5-1160 computer using Windows 7. I installed the Laserjet software from my installation CD's without a problem. The printer is connected to the computer by USB port. I can continue to print without a problem. However, I no longer am able to scan using the HP software (HPscan.exe) nor from within applications that use TWAIN scanning driver such as Word, Acrobat, etc. When I attempt to do so, it takes a long time before it asks me what TWAIN scan driver to select. When I select the HP cm1410 MFP series, the program either crashes or reverts to the state it was before I attempted to scan an image into a document from within the program.
I can however scan successfully using the Windows Scan and Fax wizard or if I choose "Devices and Printers" from the Start Menu and select "Start scan" from the menu after right-clicking the HP printer icon. However this option limits my use of the scanner -- I cannot scan to a PDF nor can I scan multiple pages into an OCR application. I'm forced to scan to either a JPG or TIF or PNG.
As for attempting to resolve this problem I have done the following with no success:
Uninstall and reinstall the full software and drivers (and using the most recent version on the HP website)
Change USB ports and/or cables
Run the HP scan diagnostic utility, which seems to show an error at the WIA scanning step and then recommends that I uuninstall and reinstall the full software. When I skip that and allow it to check for TWAIN scanning, it gives me a similar error, suggesting that I use the most recent version of the drivers (the driver that I am using is v 3.0 dated 11/12/2009) Therefore in this case the HP scan diagnostic utility does NOT provide a fix for this problem other than uninstall and reinstall, which I have done several times to no avail
Contact HP support both for the computer and the multifunction printer (which as I understand are different support staff). The printer staff claims it's a software problem and that the computer staff should be able to resolve it (something about not having "launchpad" installed properly. When I contact the computer staff, they claim it's a printer driver issue. So I am at a standstill
I researched the HP support forums only to find from this link - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02661093&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4089468&tmp... - that if you cannot scan from HP software that you can use the programs that rely on WIA drivers (Windows Fax and Scan) which I already know I can do but implies that HP does NOT have a solution for how to scan using their own software!
My gut tells me that this is one of those problems that many others may have but for which there is no workable solution. It's possible that during the course of uninstalling and reinstalling the software, remnants may remain behind that prevent proper functioning of the drivers, but without knowing how to specifically "clean" those remnants before reinstalling the software, I am at a loss. Oh and by the way, I've also tried using CCleaner and Norton Registry Cleaner in an attempt to clean those remnants, but that effort didn't help.
My question is basically this... does anyone know of a fix around this problem or must I resign myself to using the Windows Fax and Scan wizard to scan in documents and images and forget about using TWAIN programs as HP seems to be suggesting? I would think that given that I am using an HP printer/scanner along with an HP computer with Windows 7 that this problem should NOT be a problem!

Before attempting to install the printer on my computer (HP slimline s5-1160), I had been able to successfully install the printer previously on two other computers: a Lenovo T-410 laptop (work computer using Windows XP) and an HP Pavilion Elite HPE (wife's computer using Windows 7).
On those computers, I can use the TWAIN driver from within applications without a problem, and the HPSCAN.exe file works as well. Both computers connect to the printer wirelessly.
It is while trying to install the printer on my home computer via USB that I am having all sorts of difficulty. I have also tried to connect my s5-1160 to the printer wirelessly from my computer. I also checked the Windows Services, and all seems fine there. I also tried switching USB ports and cables. Again, no luck with the scanning using TWAIN driver.
One other point: when I use the original installation CD that came with the printer to install on the s5-1160, the installation seems to stop when it says "Checking requirements for installation" That didn't happen with the two other computers. However, that problem doesn't happen the s5-1160 when I used the more recent version of the full software from the HP website.
Let me reiterate. I have never had any problems with printing from any computer. The scanner works fine from my s5-1160 if I resort to using the scanner and fax wizard using the WIA drivers. What I am unable to do is to get the scanner to work from within an application using the TWAIN driver or if I use the native HP application (hpscan.exe). Nothing seems to happen. Because of that I cannot scan directly into a PDF.
And the only fix that the HP scan diagnostic utility continues to recommend is that I uninstall and reinstall the software. It shows errors in the WIA scanning step and TWAIN step.
Is it possible that because of behind-the-scenes Windows updates that my s5-1160 is receiving that a software conflict is created that prevents the TWAIN driver from functioning properly? Other than that I am at a loss to figure out why this is happening.

HELP ME! My MacBook Keeps Freezing!

Ok, I really have no Idea whats going on, some things freeze and some things don't.
Preview, Microsoft Word, started freezing first, at that time I got a pop up saying I had a courrpt font and it was going to be disabled, but I never say that again.
Anyway I figured it was probably a bad font so I tried to open font book, but it freezes, I tried to to open disk utility to repair my hard drive maybe, BUT IT FREEZES TOO!!!
Also Utorrent freezes, and so does Chrome on certain websites (like keepvid.com a youtube downloading website.)
And get ready for the big on Console Freezes! So I Can't even read my crash logs.
When my programs freeze I am able to force quit them with in a minute so I don't have to restart, but If I leave them to see if they will run the whole computer freezes.
Also, yesterday there was a number missing from my MacBooks digital clock, the time read 9:4 AM instead of 9:45 AM, ***?
I have my OSX disk should I just reinstall eveything? and if so how would I go about doing that?

I think as your iPod is still under warranty you should get it serviced, or at least take it to an Apple store if one is nearby.
