Help about Creative SOUND BLASTER AWE 64 & video card Creative 3D BLASTER VooDoo2 12

Hi All. I really need your help!
I am hoping you can help me out with these problems.
My PC configuration is: ) Pentium II 266 Mhz; 2) OS Windows98 SE; 3) Creative SOUND BLASTER AWE 64; 4) video card TRIDENT 3D IMAGE 9850 AGP; 5) video card Creative 3D BLASTER VooDoo2 2 MB 3DFX; 6) external modem Creative BLASTER FLASH 56K DE5720 V.90.
I reformatted my pc but now:
. I have NO Sound at all and the Icon for sound is missing from the system tray. When I go to control panel and system properties I have this message: "BIOS reports pheripherial resources wrongly (error code 9)", but I have original drivers on Creative cd!!
2. Modem doesn't work and when I go to control panel and system properties I have this message: "modem drivers are NOT installed (error code 28). Reinstall drivers". I have reinstalled the original drivers (Creative cd!!) but it doesn?t work at all.
3. System doesn?t recognize Creative 3D BLASTER VooDoo 2; it doesn't exist for my pc!!
Thank you for your time.

He has got an PCI system, so it should be PNP compatible. Migth be Interupt sharing. Try to stick that card into another slot. First only Graphic card. Reinstall Win98SE. Then install !ALL! updates for win98. install the AWE card. Download VXD drivers (NOT WDM!!!) and install them. VXD drivers can be found under windows updates /?Windows ME / driver section. Yeah, i hope this is right : WinME!! (had an AWE32, but its a?few years after i had downloaded these drivers.
Put in your Voodoo card. maybe this card is dead, but it might work if you try it in every slot? (dont move your graphic- card). Good luck. If finished, do the same with your modem, what you did on your Voodoo card. Maybe some parts wont work anymore, because these things are really old and some components on them (capacitors) may have running dead meanwhile.Modem issues: i know that com/3 or com2/4 isnt working on Pentium PC's so try beetween them.

  • Sound conflicts with video card

I have the 845GLMS/GVMS series MS-6754 Motherboard and I have having some major conflicts between my GeForce FX 5200 PCI 256 MB video card and any sound that I run off the card -whether it be the AC97 sound off the board or my installed Create Audigy LS PCI card or my Create Soundblaster USB device.  What happens is that if I run a game like Doom 3 - with any audio enabled, the FPS slows down to 5-8 BUT if I turn all sound off, it goes up to 30-40 FPS and this is also true with other games.  I have all the latest drivers and the BIOS is as up to date as Live Update will let it.  What should I do???  HELP!!!!

change the sound card to another pci slot..
BTW which slot is the vid card in, it should be in the first available from the top..

  • No sound after upgrading video card on Pavilion Slimline?

    Note: Solution follows this post.
I submit this due to the fact that I could not find a suitable resolution for this problem in these forums.  Hopefully someone else can receive some benefit from it.
I just upgraded my video card in my Pavilion Slimline to an PCI-E ATI 4650.  After the upgrade I get no sound whatsoever from the Realtek HD sound (onboard).  In checking the property sheet of the soundcard, I can see that the Realtek device is set to use HDMI output.  This is fine except for the fact that HDMI is not being used.  I am using the Analog plug on the rear of the soundcard.
    Windows 7 x86
    4G Ram
    ASUS TV Tuner
    ATI 4650 PCI-E Video

The resolution that worked for me is as follows:
1.) Open device manager and disable any other installed audio devices.  (For me this was the ATI HDMI audio device that is installed with the ATI Video Card and also the Audio device used by the ASUS TV Tuner I have)
2.) With only the Realtek Audio device enabled, reboot.  Be ready to press F10 to get into your BIOS setup options.
3.) Within your BIOS find the settings for your onboard Audio device.  Change that setting from "Auto" to "Enabled".  Save your changes and reboot.  (This step may or may not be necessary but is included here as a precautionary measure just in case.)
Upon reboot your sound should be working properly. (Mine was)
4.) Now go back into Device Manager/Audio properties and "Enable" the devices you disabled earlier.  Check to make sure sound is still working afterwards.  If all is still working, reboot and check it again just to be sure.

  • NEED help on choosing a new VGA video CARD for 875pNEO-LRS mobo.

I've purchase a GEforce4 MX440SE 4x/2x 128mb DDR (Taiwain base company made it)...however on their manual & web site..I cant find the voltage info. of it. Thats why I worry that if its not 1.5v 4x AGP card, I will ruin my new mobo.  My first question is that if there is a way that I can test the voltage of it.  I really dont want to wast the money I already spent on it.  However if its my only choice is to buy a different one ... Please post what type of Video CARD you guys are using for this mobo.  Your input will be much appreciate it.

    Hi
I'am using a Sapphire Radeon 9000 Atlantis PRO 128Mb on my mobo, works fine. One thing. Dont't use the drivers on the cd that comes with the card. Get the fresh stuff from ATI's site.

  • HELP rebalancing the sound of a video

I've recorded a live concert for saxophone and piano with canon FS100 and beachteck phantom power with 2 mics: Audio technica At 4033 and shure PG 48.
Allright for the 2nd part of the concert but in the 1st part the input volume of the 2 mics was balaced wrong: the piano volume is to high and the saxophone is too low.
Is there a video editing software that enables me to rebalance the sound of the video by lowering the level of the piano or rising the level of the saxophone ?

Hopefully the audio from each mic was recorded on its own channel/track and not mixed together. If so, almost any audio editing program or NLE could be used to adjust the levels of each audio channel independently; FCE, FCP, SoundTrack Pro would all work.
However, if the audio was recorded mixed, it would be extremely difficult (if not impossible) to do what you want.

  • Please help in selecting video card

I have an older 500 MHZ (single cpu) G4. I just bought a 23" Apple display. I use the comp. for graphics applications (photoshop, illustrator, etc)
The video card I have in the G4 currently is an ATI Rage 128 Pro. I need to upgrade for the new monitor. I need an AGP card with at least 128 MB and a DVI connection for the new Apple display.
Also, right out of the box, the display does not work. I had it all hooked up and plugged in and the display never turns on. The LED light doesnt even light up. Is this a bad transformer or a video card problem.
I am sending the display back.
Please help me pick out the correct video card. All of the ones I have seen are either for the G5 or not for certain generation G4. I will be upgrading to G5 sometime next year but I have to work with this one for now.
    Thanks for your help.

  • MB 915/G Combo MS-7058 video card options or suggestions on the new market

First off my apologies. I wasn't sure which forum to place my question under,
    Retired Motherboards or Video Cards.
Quick summary I'm looking to upgrade my video card on an older mother board and have run into problems with a new board working. I think the problem is a backwards compatibility issue.  I need help  with a list of what video cards I can buy that are available new preferably if not a list of where to go and what to watch for. I would like to increase the speed/ram. My skill level is around, open the case swap out the item and insert the disk. With a search forums and try to find the answer/follow directions or suggestions.
    In more detail,
I'm looking to upgrade my video card from NVIDIA GeForce 6 Series  NX-6600  256mb card on a an MSI 915P/G combo. The install/instruction manual lists under the above combo name MS-7058 (v1.X) ATX Motherboard and  below the image of the board there is also the text of G52-M7058x1.
The video card option for placement is in the sole PCI Express X16 slot (no on motherboard graphics and/or connection options I know of)   and I assuming from what I've tried researching that the PCI Express x1(mentioned elsewhere but all suggestions were cards no longer for sale) is some sort of standard of limit and my motherboard is too old despite newer cards fitting into the slot and claiming backwards compatibility to the "PCI Express or Pci Express 2.0".
Part of that possible assumption of my issue comes from the fact the mother board can have ether DDR1 or DDR2 ram for memory  but a video card with DDR3 ram would not work. Also the software from the included disk and from the from the website install correctly for the card to function other than the basic windows drivers leaving the card unable to run any games.   For reference the video card purchased and tried was a  EVGA Geforce GT 610 SC9super clocked) with 2 GB of DDR3 Memory. Which i hopefully will have returned for a refund soon.  I spent most of the day trying to install the software by their program , by launching from disk directly, from downloading the most current version from the manufacturer's website and checking with Microsoft for possible system change updates.
My original invoice August 2005 lists the  pre order lists the Item VGMS-NX6600/256E   then under description MSI NX6600-TD256E/PCIEX/256MB for the grand price of $169.00  deleviery receipt lists the card as item VGXM-X66DHEJTZ1   Description XMEDIA 6600 256MB PCIE DVI/TV
Power Supply 630 watts installed July 2008 I can not get the full listings of voltage and amps per connectors without taking the powers supply loose from the case(which requires shutting the system off, so I hoping I won't need to but will if the information will help). I do not feel power is an issue due to the size and the power supply was unneeded upgrade,  that I just wanted to replace when swapping out a motherboards damaged from a lighting hit or power surge. System was running fine for years.
    General system information
Windows XP professional SP3 All updates current.
    Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz
2.00 GB of Ram DDR 1
    Videocard  NVIDA 6600   Driver 6.14.12.9573
3 hard drives of varying sizes 500GB,1TB and 2TB  Plus one external  with external power supply 1.5TB drive
If more information is needed please let me know.
The best advice and help would be a list of currently for sale video cards that will work with links to places (and the actual model even better) like New Egg,  or if there is such a card at the local Best Buy(outstanding advice on this non compatible/working card....I won't digress into my own mistake of buying there). I'm way out of date on information and standards about computers and hardware and need help  figuring out what Video Cards to look at for purchasing.   Preferably new, then re manufactured with warranty then used...  The main game I play that strains my system but is playable is call of duty modern warfare 2 and would like to run 3 if possible. Although better rates with COD MW2 and COD 4 MW.

100% correct on the mother board
The card I had tried was EVGA---GeForce-GT-610 2GB DDR3 I can't post external links but it was from Best Buy. The  box claimed requirements are that it needs PCI Express or PCI Express 2.0 compliant motherboards with one open graphic slot.  The best I could get out of it was slightly working with Windows XP basic driver which no games would run. No selecting drivers helped from the Add Hardware program.
So I should make sure it lists "PCI Express X16" and  " version 1 " "1MB(in reference to what part?)" or words to that effect?  I was mislead by the box above for capability and "NVIDIA" on it, am I correct in assuming it was a generic whore knock off which bought the rights to stick NVIDIA name on the outside for a standard or software?  Especially since the actual video card says EVGA and not NVIDIA on it....  I won't make that mistake hopefully again.
Due to age I was buying a cheap fill in card,(old one was working fine but I figured a good training/practice exercise and to see how much better the games looked  to encourage me going forward on my first build) until I can start ordering and building to  the current upgradeable standards.   I'm trying to catch up on standards and not  have a firewire or zipdrive experience. Although I might put a 5 1/4 disk drive in unused bay for show    I would prefer not to buy another per-assembled option and decent computer part stores near me are lacking. Or I lack knowledge of their locations. If it matters I'm in Charlotte, NC USA
My budget is up to about $200 although I would like to stay around $100.00 (usa dollars) if possible. I think that gives me realistic options even with places like Best Buy. If I'm not, please correct me. I'm aware best Buy will give me a special 30-50% price increase  but my local options for shops are hurting, the "best place for reputation" is a story of shame.

  • Problems with video card in CS4

I'm having what I think is video problems since I switched to CS4. No problems with CS3 before, or any other programs except CS4, now. Frequent apparent redraws leave remnants on screen, panels move back and forth, etc.
I have a Dell Precision 490 with 4gb ram and a nVidia Quadra fx 550 with 128 megs of ram. Open GL is enabled. I have loaded all the latest nVidia drivers.
If this sounds like a video card problem, can anyone recommend a good, not too expensive card? I don't play any games, just use the machine for PS. ID and Flash mostly.
    Thanks in advance.
    Jon

I am having the same problem with CS3 and CS4. Any luck on fixing your problem?

Your video card driver may be fine for something, but just not compatible with Premiere Elements 13/13.1.
For those with the display card error, the answers include
    a. assure your video card/graphics card driver version is up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card -
if necessary consider a driver roll back.
    b. determine in Device Manager/Display Adapters if the computer is using 2 cards instead of 1
    c. delete the BadDrivers.txt file
the rationale for that deletion is found in post 10 of the following older post...principle applies to 13 as well as 9.
Re: Premiere Elements 9 Tryout Serious Display Problem
Have you looked for computer ATI card settings that might be more compatible with Premiere Elements 13/13.1?
When is the program crashing - just opening a new project or rather crashing if editing a particular video format at the Timeline level?

  • Help! Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1 Sound Card -

Hello. I've just recieved my new soundcard. It is the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7. Sound Card - OEM. (Located here: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...atid=&subcat=)
My motherboard is a Asus A8N SLi se.
Now, I have put it in my motherboard, and just tried to install the drivers. I got an error though. It said "No compatible creative product detected." So I downloaded the drivers off the Creative site, and that did not help either. I disabled the onboard sound in the BIOS, and yet it still did not work. I tried plugging in the soundcard into each of the soundcard ports on my motherboard, and none of them detected the card.
I am sick of using onboard, and would like to get this problem fixed.
    Some additional information:
The back audio/microphone ports on my motherboard never worked. I have been using the front sockets on my case. I see cables running from my motherboard to the front of my case. Maybe one of those cables need to go into my soundcard in order for it to work? I'm not sure which though, so I didn't try it, just incase.
Here are some screenshots of what I'm getting. They might help.
Drivers from the Creative site: http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/4528/gayap9.jpg

Unknown Device in my Device Manager: http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/9924/unknownoj8.jpg
Now, I have no other creative parts in my computer. So this should be the soundcard, right?
Thanks in advanced for any replies.

Does the cable from the MB to the front I/O panel simuliar to this one? I installed a Audigy2 ZS in my other system and connected the black cable with the 0 pin connector to the card to use my front phone/mike jacks. Also in your device manager I see the Realtek AC97 still listed. When I installed the XM card in my 600 I disabled it in the BIOS so the entry does not show up in mine just the SB XF-I is displayed.

  • My Past, Present & Future with Creative Sound Blaster cards

I wrote a small product review of a Z-series card i regrettably purchased and creative responded. I replied to them and copied+pasted it here. First and foremost please understand this is just an open letter talking about my love for and mostly positive experiences with the Sound Blaster line of cards since the mid-late 1990s.
Attached is an annotated picture of almost all the Creative hardware I've bought over the years.
Take a good long look at that picture. Think about how many songs have been played through those devices, think of how many movies have been heard through those devices, think of how many games made me jump out of my seat from sound effects heard through those devices, and lastly think how many thousands of hours this amounts to.
STOP READING and LOOK at that attached PICTURE.
I use the word 'almost' because it does not include the card I recently purchased off e-bay, which was listed as (and was) mint condition new, and cost me $250.... a Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion Series card.
If the direction Creative is going to continue to go is the direction that it's been going over the past handful of years this will be the last Creative product myself or anyone i influence or make purchasing decisions for will ever buy. Being in my mid 30s I'd say you'll miss out on at least another 20-30+ years of future product purchases.
Below is my address of your reply to my review of your product in a piece by piece layout:
"Based on user feedback we've done the following:
    - Take up less disk space"
I run two 128GB SSDs in a hardware based (LSI Logic 8704ELP) raid-0 array so the disk footprint of drivers and software is important to me but whatever space you reduced your driver to is trivial.
%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Creative\(ALchemy, AudioCS AutoMode Switcher, Console Launcher, Shared Files, ShareDLL,THX Console, Volume Panel)
in total take up about 100MB of space. reducing this means NOTHING because it does not allow for more hefty software (Games or Design/Drafting/3D-Modelling Software) to be installed. Now if say your driver and software had a 1GB footprint and you reduced it to 500MB that would be significant because 500MB is enough space to account for one or 2 of average installation footprints of the products in the Adobe Creative Suite. Reducing the size from 100MB to 25MB/50MB/75MB is moot.
"- Optimized controls for touch screens"
This point is amusing, why? because you are making the same mistake Microsoft made with Windows 8 & Metro. Most people who buy a creative sound card are putting it in a PC and do not have a touchscreen. I don't manage a lot of computers but the ~200 i am responsible for bypassed Windows 8 (maybe even Windows 9, we'll see) and either moved from Windows XP to Windows 7 or they will be staying with Windows 7 for the foreseeable future. The touch centric design of Windows 8 is a significant part of this decision despite all the things Microsoft did that i think are steps forward (like better native support for multiple display devices to name one example).
"- Streamlined the interface so it's easier to navigate (removed "modes" and have all controls available regardless what you want to use the card for)."
Dumbing-down a product to reach a greater audience is walking the fine line of Quality vs. Quantity. Why you've sacrificed significant Quality to increase Quantity i do not know. While I will agree making 1 interface instead of 3 can be a potential step forward you did more than streamlining the user interface- you removed prominent, useful, and important features.
"- Better tie in with the Windows audio sub-system."
Through out the decade the only problems I experienced with Windows and my Creative products i can count on one hand. The first would be when Microsoft abandoned DirectSound and moved to an UAA based audio stack in Vista forward and your company dropped the ball and Daniel_K picked it up and made working drivers for your products and you went after him... I was one of the people who used his working drivers to make your sound card work properly when you failed to do so. Second was the fact that you people charged for ALchemy when the move to Vista occurred... this was truly a sh*ty thing to do. The third was the X-RAM causing a BSOD (STOP 0x50 - PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA) in windows on a regular random basis because of your device drivers and the best working solution was to disable using the X-RAM on the card- a selling point of the cards to begin with (albeit in years prior).
Allow me to elaborate some more while I have time since it's sunday night and the family is busy with other things and will be off to bed thereafter.
Creative's device drivers and software has always been a point of contention. You don't make the install discs available for download on your website for starters. This is a fascist move on your part. Your driver installation procedure and reliability is hit or miss. I personally have not had a lot of trouble with the drivers (only a few hiccups here and there) but i have read on the forums where all sorts of other people have (I'm not in disagreeing that their problems are partially their fault, but that's the price of running Windows instead of buying a Mac). My experience with your driver software suites over the years have been mostly (A) "When it works as expected it's sheer aural bliss beyond that of any other sound card in existence! THIS is why 'Sound Blaster Compatible' was what other companies put on their products, because Creative set the standard for everyone else to meet." but also sometimes (B) "everything installed and worked fine but now something is corrupt and not all the speakers have sound coming from them or the sound is all screwed up and the driver won't uninstall/reinstall/update correctly because it's corrupt and it's not deleting the driver files because windows has the files locked and safe mode isn't helping so now i have to physically remove the card from the PC and try to completely clean out my system of the Creative software. I can't believe they went after Daniel_K the way they did, i wish he'd come back and fix their drivers. Now which box did i put that install cd in...."
There are 2 reasons I've bought Creative sound cards for over a decade now. CMSS 3D when listening to music while working throughout the day and EAX in videogames at night.
I remember the moment when I experienced EAX for the very first time. I was in college and over at a friend's place. He had just got a new game called Thief: The Dark Project. I remember him telling me about something new called EAX and that only Creative cards had it and that it was supposed to be awesome. About an hour later after watching and HEARING him play Thief I was hooked. Creative had secured a place for it's hardware in my budget for every PC i built from that day forward.
Being that I've worked from home for about a decade now I will listen to music while I work and get in an hour or so of gaming at night as time allows. Straight off the bat the first time i ticked that box for CMSS 3D long long ago and heard music coming from every speaker in my home office i was amazed and overwhelmed. Then when you introduced the ability to set the individual speaker distance and volume from the listening position it was the icing on the cake. I was surround by sound. It was SHEER AURAL BLISS. This feature called CMSS 3D would become the second reason I purchased and recommended Creative sound cards for the decade to come.
As i stated in my review, the only reason i bought a new sound card was because the motherboard I was purchasing had no PCI slots (I remember when motherboards stopped having ISA slots as well...). Before making my purchase I read. I read a lot. I read about the changes you made with the X-Fi Titanium HD and then the Recon3D, and the more i read the more a feeling of apprehension began to take hold. Then i got to reading about the Z-series and read about some of the positive changes between it and the Recon3D line of cards and I became a bit more hopeful.
Sadly my apprehension was spot on... Listening to music was a worse experience when compared to my X-Fi Platinum (or even my old Audigy 2)... and did not even come close to justifying the purchase of the card compared to just using the integrated sound capabilities of my motherboard, an ASRock Z87 OC Formula/ac. But none the less I still had EAX to fall back on right? wrong... I installed a couple games, some new and some old, some with EAX and some without, and for about 2 weeks i played a bit of each one to see how the card handled new and old games. Sadly EAX compatibility didn't even matter because it was overshadowed by poor directional audio reproduction... that same front center speaker that was overbearing when listening to music was noticeable when gaming to the point that it was negatively affecting my gaming experience. I tweaked and toggled every setting i could and even uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and software to try to mitigate this but to my dismay i could not. It was at this point I went weighing my options... and looking for an X-Fi Titanium (NON-HD!) and suffered the capitalist price gouging that occurs in such supply & demand situations... at least i talked the guy down from his original asking price of $300. I bit the bullet on this because chances are this is going to be the last Creative card i ever own...
I've had my Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion Series installed for just over a week now. Everything sounds precise and as it should when you have a quality piece of hardware paired with quality software. Directional audio in games comes from all speakers appropriately and not excessively from the front center speaker unless it's supposed to. Ambient music floats through the air all through out the day creating that familiar feeling of sheer aural bliss as it did before. The only downside is I'm getting to experience the problems other people have with this card (strange loud static-like warble EMI type noise coming from speakers, unaffected by windows volume control) but I have found a work around that I'm using on the rare occasion this happens (disable the device in device manager, re-enable device in device manager).
Chances are what i've written above is perhaps an opening soliloquy of the requiem for the Creative Sound Blaster, the card that defined an industry and the company that turned it's back on it. I don't expect anything to come from this letter and I don't expect a meaningful reply from you. You'll probably write me justifying your decisions you've made with your product line and offer some false sincerity about how you are happy i am enjoying my price-gouged discontinued soundcard i had to buy off e-bay because your current line of products are not a step back in your eyes because of the profits they turn. This generation of customers who buy your Platinum HD, or Reco3D or Z-series line of cards probably oblivious to what they are missing out on (through no fault of their own), funny how the bliss of ignorance works and lines your pockets...
It saddens me that i had to buy a discontinued product off e-bay because it's a better product than what your company currently offers. I wish this wasn't the way things turned out. When you dropped the fun presets and finite control of the EAX effects during the transition from the Audigy to the X-Fi line of cards I noticed but since they were not the main reason I owned a Creative card I tolerated it. But now you've gone and ruined the features that were the reasons i bought Creative cards, and this I will not oblige.

    @To the OP:
I own a X-Fi Elite Pro for the past 8 years now.
Since there, this card has faithfullly seen me through 3 major PC upgrades.
I'm currently at a point where, very sadly, much of what you've described is also weighing on my decision to not go for a Z line.
    @Creative:
I do hope you're listening and can come up with a solution to a simply design feature - namely a fully working Stereo Surround, like the one that was available in the X-Fi line of cards via CMSS-3D.
    Regards,
