Help accessing Hotmail!

I have had my Blackberry now for 24 hrs and I can't get on my Hotmail account.  My phone is a Blackbery Curve 8320 from T-Mobile.
I tried setting up the e-mail function with my Hotmail account, and I get this message:
"An error occurred during email account validation.  Please check your information and try again.  If the error persists please contact your email account provider."
So I tried logging onto my Hotmail account using the internet browser function.  When attempt to log
 in, I get this message:
 "HTTP Error 502 Bad Gateway
The gateway recieved an invalid
response from the server when
attempting to fulfill your request.
Pleas try loading a different
page.  Contact your service
provider if this problem persists."
I can log onto the Hotmail Mobile site from my laptop, but for some reason, not on my phone.  If anybody can help me out with this, I would really appreciate it.  I am getting a little fustrated.
EDIT TO ADD:
I read another post were you have to have an older hotmail account to be able to access it on the mobil unless youpay. My Hotmail account is actually so old that I have had my account since about 4 years before Microsoft bought out Hotmail.  We are talking somewhere around 1994 to 1996 since I signed up for hotmail.

If I could attach screenshots, it would be easier to explain.  But you may be able to try this, it might work.
1) Log into your BlackBerry Internet Service Website, which should be something similar to this (depending on your carrier):
https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw
2) Once logged in you should see a button that says "Setup Email Accounts", click on it, but instead of putting in Hotmail info, put in random information here ie.  [email protected] for email address.  If the BIS sees Hotmail, it won't allow you to manually configure it, it will simply tell you to contact your email provider.
3)  It will say its processing, then it will come back with an error, choose "I will provide the settings" click next
4) Choose "This is my personal email account"
5) Choose "I will provide the settings to add this email account"
6) Fill in your hotmail info and the mail server I provided in a previous post.
That may or may not work.  Looking at my BIS, it appears as if I can no longer configure my port manually so if that process doesn't dig up and use port 995 automatically and you can't manually set it to port 995 you may be out of luck.

Ggggrrrr, i really hope that's wrong, i would also be moving away from BB sharpish if that's the case. Hoping someone cleverer than me can come up with a solution, the BB manual certainly doesn't help. Like the first poster I have tried getting vodafone to help and also hotmail, both without success.

  • Accessing hotmail via password each time on IPAD2

I have added hotmail to my IPAD2, howvere I only want to access via password entry each time. Can anyone help?

I know of no way to do what you want using the Mail app. Perhaps remove the account from the Mail app and access Hotmail with Safari as webmail.

  • When accessing Hotmail, get comment: Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later. Thank you.

It happened suddenly. After that, I reset computer to an earlier date. Did not fix problem. I reloaded Internet explorer, Version 8. Did not fix problem. I can access Hotmail from another computer without problem. I think I changed something in tools that might have caused the problem. All fixes and virus checking are up to date.
Appreciate any help you can provide.

  • Cannot access Hotmail

I have just bought a new Apple Macbook. I am unable to access hotmail - Safari gives message re. unable to access server. I have cleared cache and reset Safari. No joy. I have gone to Preferences and enabled "cookies". Please can anybody help. I am absolutely frustrated. I can access other internet sites without any problems. Thank you, Helen Hall

thank you for your response. I will try Snow Leopard this evening. Made some progress. Set up Entourage for mail and redirected Hotmail through it. It appeared to work. However, I have noticed that I cannot sent messages to any hotmail.co.uk or hotmail.com account. They remain in the Outbox and there is a message to say that the Hotmail server has failed. All messages to other providers are sent without any problem. Thank you and I will keep in touch. Helen

  • Accessing HOTMAIL from my IPHONE.

There has been a problem with accessing hotmail in the last few days.  I'm seeing that as of today, the problem is supposed to be fixed, (says that on Microsofts website) but i STILL cannot access hotmail from my iphone!  HELP!

It appears Hotmail is having issues with mobile access to their servers:
"Hotmail is working for all web users and POP-based accounts. Some mobile device users relying on EAS (Active Sync) may see problems accessing their email, calendar and contacts. We are working to restore their access."
"Fixing the problem is taking longer than we hoped. We'll provide an update by Jan 11 12:00 PM. We apologize for the lengthy interruption in service. Jan 10 12:05 PM"

  • Access Hotmail email on IpodTouch

    Hi there
Has anyone come across this problem....?
Until today I accessed Hotmail email with my IpodTouch without problems that is until I downloaded and installed the new software 2.2.1.
Now if I try to access Hotmail I get a lovely message that says "we were unable to sign you in with your windows live ID. For help fixing this problem visit http://live.login.com on your PC (the latter is an intended insult from Bill's deputies). The thing is and naturally of course, there is NO help whatsoever on the live.login page, except for something that asks me to register my mobile device (but my Ipod touch is just that, it's not an iphone with a phone number !)
Any suggestions of how to access my once accesible hotmail account, gladly welcome. And yes I know I could auto forward all my mail to my mac.com or gmail account, I just don't want to have to for many reasons.
    Regards
    jeruden

  • Can't Access Hotmail of Xbox Live via Verizon DSL

Someone please help as this situation is now in its third day and no one has been able to help me. The Verizon customer service phone line keeps blaming Microsoft, and vice versa. The whole blame game is getting tedious.
Since Friday, Feb 3rd at approx 9pm I have not been able to sign into either my Hotmail of Xbox Live Accounts. Now let me be very clear, the password and logins are correct, but the browser continually times out and won't connect. I have been able to access my email via my work computer (10 miles away) so I know that the Hotmail servers aren't down. I can access the entire internet at home, just not hotmail. I can log into the Xbox website at home, but the console (which is plugged directly into the modem) times out when it tries to login.
I really just want to know that someone is looking into it. This problem seems to be affecting only Verizon DSL/FIOs customers in CA, who use hotmail of the Xbox live services. I'm just really tired of getting the run around.
To help here's what I've tried:
-Reloading and Resetting my internet browser
-Cleared cache and deleted cookies and temporary files
    -Reset modem
    -release/renew IP address
-contact Microsoft and Verizon (both have failed to address the issue properly)
-Accessed affected email through a different computer on a different network.
    Please help.

I also thought it might be hepful to post a link to the Windows Live Solution Center forum where you can clearly see that it isn't just me. This is a systemic problem for Verizon DSL users in CA trying to access Hotmail and related Microsoft sites.
Connect the dots. This is not just an individual incident, this is a much larger outage that needs attention.

  • Certificate authentication problem, accessing hotmail through safari

When trying to access hotmail on my Mac I keep getting a invalid security certificate. eg: The certificate for accessing blu169.mail.live.com is not valid etc.... When I click on expand the certificate looks ok (it is mail.live.com signed by Verisign).
I have checked the date and time are both correct and is set to auto. I have cleared cache and cookies with no change. It is isolated to the Mac, as I can still access the account from my iphone. It affects multiple accounts, as I cannot access using an alternate email address either.

This could be a complicated problem to solve, as there are several possible causes for it.
Back up all data, then take each of the following steps that you haven't already taken. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Date & Time
Select the Time Zone tab in the preference pane that opens and check that the time zone matches your location. Then select the Date & Time tab. Check that the data and time shown (including the year) are correct, and correct them if not.
    Check the box marked
              Set date and time automatically
if it's not already checked, and select one of the Apple time servers from the menu next to it.
    Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/Keychains/SystemCACertificates.keychain
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
              Services ▹ Show Info
from the contextual menu.* An Info dialog should open. The dialog should show "You can only read" in the Sharing & Permissions section.
    Repeat with this line:
    /System/Library/Keychains/SystemRootCertificates.keychain
If instead of the Info dialog, you get a message that either file can't be found, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Open a TextEdit window and paste into it by pressing command-V. Select the line you just pasted and continue as above.
    Step 3
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
In the upper left corner of the window, you should see a list headed Keychains. If not, click the button in the lower left corner that looks like a triangle inside a square.
In the Keychains list, there should be items named System and System Roots. If not, select
              File ▹ Add Keychain
from the menu bar and add the following items:
    /Library/Keychains/System.keychain
    /System/Library/Keychains/SystemRootCertificates.keychain
Open the View menu in the menu bar. If one of the items in the menu is
              Show Expired Certificates
select it. Otherwise it will show
              Hide Expired Certificates
    which is what you want.
From the Category list in the lower left corner of the window, select Certificates. Look carefully at the list of certificates in the right side of the window. If any of them has a a blue-and-white plus sign or a red "X" in the icon, double-click it. An inspection window will open. Click the disclosure triangle labeled Trust to disclose the trust settings for the certificate. From the menu labeled
              Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
    select
              no value specified
Close the inspection window. You'll be prompted for your administrator password to update the settings.
Now open the same inspection window again, and select
When using this certificate: Use System Defaults
Save the change in the same way as before.
Revert all the certificates with non-default trust settings. Never again change any of those settings.
    Step 4
Select My Certificates from the Category list. From the list of certificates shown, delete any that are marked with a red X as expired or invalid.
Export all remaining certificates, delete them from the keychain, and reimport. For instructions, select
              Help ▹ Keychain Access Help
from the menu bar and search for the term "export" in the help window. Export each certificate as an individual file; don't combine them into one big file.
    Step 5
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences... ▹ Certificates
There are three menus in the window. Change the selection in the top two to Best attempt, and in the bottom one to  CRL.
    Step 6
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    /var/db/crls
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder named "crls" should open. Move all the files in that folder to the Trash. You’ll be prompted for your administrator login password.
Restart the computer, empty the Trash, and test.
    Step 7
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    open -e /etc/hosts
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting. A TextEdit window should open. At the top of the window, you should see this:
    # Host Database
    # localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
    # when the system is booting.  Do not change this entry.
    127.0.0.1                              localhost
    255.255.255.255          broadcasthost
    ::1                                        localhost
    fe80::1%lo0                    localhost
If that's not what you see, post the contents of the window.

  • I can't access Hotmail?

I don't know where this goes to, but my problem is that i can't access hotmail via my macbook laptop either using safari or firefox.
The problem lies in whenever i get to hotmail and login into my account. I can't seems to open the link to read my e-mails nor toggle between the inbox and junk box.
Apparently, javascript or something is the cause or is it something else?
Can anyone give any advice regarding this issue?

"Daniel, I appreciate the time you took to report this to us. The issue you described happens when you are using the lower version of your preferred browser with the classic version of Windows Live Hotmail. I suggest that you upgrade your browser to its latest version and optimize it.
For instructions on how to download the latest version of your browser and optimize it, please see the Help section of your browser or their support team.
If the issue persists after performing the actions above, please reply to the following questions so that we can further investigate:
    1. Does the issue happen even when you use another computer with a different browser?
    2. Does it occur with other Windows Live Hotmail accounts that are being accessed on your computer?
    3. Does it happen whether you are using the Full or Classic version of the Windows Live Hotmail interface?"
This was how i fixed mine, try if it works for you.

  • Windows Live won't install on my mac.  Can't Access Hotmail.

I have MSN as my home page and access my email there with a link to Hotmail. In the last few days, the site has been changed and now when I try to access Hotmail, I am redirected to a new window indicating that I need to subscribe to Windows Live. When I download the file, it disappears from my downloaded files and therfore I cannot install it. I can access my Hotmail through a regular PC and have not been asked on a PC to subscribe to Windows Live. So, it would seem the problems lies with the Macbook, but I'm not sure.
    Can anyone assist me?
    Thanks

wait. i'm trying to download windows live and it won't even let me get to the web page, on safari or firefox.
