HELP! Account settings changed by me?

I was trying to rename my little house icon to something else. I highlighted it, click Get Info and then under Name and Extension, changed the name.
Went on working for a few minutes and all apps open would say, the original file is lost and needs to be resaved.
I instantly knew I screwed up. I switched the name back, but go the error that "That name is already in use." So, I shut down, restarted and though the name is now back to what it was, I'm presented with a new desktop and all my settings are now default, I can't connect to my network etc.
On my hd, under users, I see a new folder with the original desktop stuff. So, the house icon is named the original "kj" but is all default. The other Folder is called "Kellyj" and it's only a normal folder icon but inside there is a desktop folder with all my usual stuff.
I only have one user listed in the Accounts at system prefs but now I have this new desktop where everything is new!
I just want to restore everything... so I want the stuff in the KellyJ folder to be the default desktop items, bookmarks, files, network shortcuts etc.
What can I do?

    I have an odd one here for sure.  
    I am an exchange administrator for a organization and we believe that since getting iPhone 6's two of my execs have had
    an issue where their iphone AND their ipad have issues.  It is reported that a reply to all will cc themselves on every email and we found that when looking at the mail account settings the username actually changes from [email protected] to [email protected]
    We see this on both of the devices (iphone and ipad) and we feel that it began when they two execs got their iPhone 6's.  
    I will also add that we do not have any way for these devices to communicate with our internal network other than just ActiveSync.  There is no internal wifi network or anything like that.   We have updated the device to the latest version of iOS
    and we just migrated their mailboxes to Exchange 2013.  I will add that this happened on 2010 as well and the migration just happened to be occurring during the time that we were trying to resolve it.  It has been going on for quite a while, but
    is starting to make a scene internally.   
    We have since found that some of our regular users have this issue as well, but no one in our IT staff has seen this.  I am an Android user, but the rest of my staff are iOS users.  
    Anyone seen this before?  Any ideas?  How could this just flip the account settings like this?

  • Please help.  Settings changing!!!  Files erasing!!!

    Using a 2.0 ghz macbook. Bought on Friday. Did a custom install where I left out the language translations, garageband, the trials and all that. I have not downloaded any other software yet. Nothing. Anyway my settings have already been changed. iLife seems like it totally reset itself. I am not sure if this happened all at once or not. Here are the changes:
    1. itunes files that I put in this machine are now gone. When I wnet to open itunes tonight I got the agreement screen, preferences and all that as if I were using it for the first time.
    2. Mail had me redo all my .mac info as if I had never done it.
    3. Safari preferences and bookmarks were erased.
    4. Desktop backround changed to the default.
    5. Desltop icon went back to defualt size.
    6. Dock went back to default settings.
    WTH is going on?! How can this happen? There are no files in the trash. I searched for my itunes files in spotlight too, nothing.

    it sounds as though you may have tried to change the name of your home folder/user?? if so, if you follow this article http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302150 it should allow you to recover your home folder. if this is what you did, for future reference, this article http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106824 describes one of the proper ways to rename the home directory. as you can see, it is not made easy. [ 8 ) ]

  • Email settings changing

    Hello,
    Out of the blue - my email account settings change and all of a sudden I can't send or receive.  I'm alerted to the problem when I can't receive email - the ! appears next to the account. This has happened 4-5 times.  I'm using a MacBook Pro, Mac OS X 10.7.5
    I'm pretty well versed in checking the account settings now because I've been through it so many times. I've had to delete email accounts and create them again.  Many times.  My internet connection is solid.  I have 3 different email addresses, using three different servers:  ICloud, Roadrunner and Gmail.
    Now, when I try to add the ICloud account back in, Apple assigns a server that is not the server on the Email Assistant.
    Any suggestions/solutions are welcome.  Thank you.

  • Cannot change account settings anymore

    When I try and view/change settings of an account I get a pop up message "An account with this name already exists. Please enter a different account name."
    This only seems to have happened after the recent upgrade to 31.4.0, prior to this I have always been able to view/change the account settings.

    Have you done your homework?
    Run DU, check/repair HD and permissions.
    If that does not work, move following .plists to desktop; let system create new plists
    try this one first:
    com.apple.desktop.plist
    reboot and see if this fixes it.
    if not then move this one to desktop and repeat
    com.apple.desktopscreensaver.rsspictures.plist
    report back here with results.

    These types of messages often indicate a problem with the devices serial number, have you had your phone repaired at any stage or did you buy it second-hand.

    What settings did you change, what were the changes, have you visited www.icloud.com to see what mail is actually there? and do you have a backup?

    1) Due to tax reasons, it's not possible to change the country associated with an existing Adobe ID.
    Follow the steps mentioned in the below link as a workaround to create an Adobe ID with the email address you currently use for the existing Adobe ID.

    OK, I have fixed it here. Here's what I did:
    quit iTunes
    trashed ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist
    started iTunes, and authorised my account
    Worked straight away after that !

    have you deleted the account and re-added it?  Have you done a reset or restore as outlined in the iPhone user guide?  What troubleshooting have you done?

    You are trying to find a loophole to circumvent a basic rule that prohibits the transfer of purchased content from one Apple ID to another.
    Content tied to an Apple ID are bound to that Apple ID forever. You can not merge or trade accounts. Well, not (officially) anyway...
