Help activating iphone 3gs it says activation server temporally unavailable any help please??.
i bought iphone 3gs used...so i took it home and tryed to activate it using my home wifi but i got a mssg saying IPHONE COULN'T ACTIVATE ACTIVATION SERVER TEMPORALLY UNAVAILABLE TRY LATER OR TRY CONNECTING TO ITUNES...i did conect to itunes i did the whole process and i yhink it was working well but then i got another mssg saying WE SORRY WE CAN NOT CONTINUE WITH YOUR IPHONE ACTIVATION.
can anybody help me with this lil problem i have right now and cinse im new to iphones im totally lost.

If your phone was EVER hacked to unlock it, when you updated the hack was removed and it's now re-locked to its original carrier and will work only with a SIM card from that carrier..

Generally, that means the phone has been jailbroken (hacked). You can try restoring it as new using iTunes. Beyond that, there's really nothing we can advise as jailbroken phones can't be supported on these forums.

i updated my iphone software on monday and as it was updating back it stopped and showed an error that the activation server is unavailable and that i should try again after some time i have been trying since monday but all to no avail i still get the same message again. kindly help out on wat to do.
This message usually indicates that your phone has been hacked/modified or jailbroken.
Was your phone ever locked to a different phone carrier? IF it was how did you unlock it? -

It is 99% hacked/jailbroken iPhone to use a different carrier than intended. You have to put the sim from the original carrier or ask them to unlock the iPhone. We as well as Apple cannot help you with this.

I suspect there is nothing wrong with the activation server; more likely you hacked the phone to get the beta. Now you are stuck. -

Your antivirus or firewall may be blocking access to Apple's activation server at gs.apple.com.
If you have ever used your computer to hack or jailbreak any iOS device at any time in the past your network database on your computer is corrupted. Open the hosts file and delete any lines that contain gs.apple.com.
Mac: /etc/hosts
Windows: c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
It is a hidden file, so you will have to set your file explorer to show hidden files. -

4 possible causes of that message:
1] Activation server is actually down. Very rare occurrence, but it does happen.
When it does occur, down time is very short. Solution - try again.
2] Your firewall or antivirus are blocking the connection. Solution - temporarily
deactivate your firewall or antivirus until the update completes.
3] Computer being used for the activation has previously been used to jailbreak
an iOS device. Solution - use a computer that has not been used to jailbreak an
iOs device.
4] Your iPhone is jailbroken. Google may provide some direction. Be advised the jailbreak
may have made changes that will prevent the iPhone from successfully activating.
