Help activating iphone 3gs it says activation server temporally unavailable any help please??.

i bought iphone 3gs used...so i took it home and tryed to activate it using my home wifi but i got a mssg saying IPHONE COULN'T ACTIVATE ACTIVATION SERVER TEMPORALLY UNAVAILABLE TRY LATER OR TRY CONNECTING TO ITUNES...i did conect to itunes i did the whole process and i yhink it was working well but then i got another mssg saying WE SORRY WE CAN NOT CONTINUE WITH YOUR IPHONE ACTIVATION.
can anybody help me with this lil problem i have right now and cinse im new to iphones im totally lost.
