Help Adobe CS4 and upgrade

I have been editing photos previously using my Lap top with Photo shop CS4. I have a new iMac and want to put this program onto it however the serial number I have is showing that its not valid? I´d even consider up grading to CS6 but have been told I can not? Anyone out there who can tell me how to get CS4 on my new computer please?

Contact support by phone or web chat regarding serial number issues. nobody here can do anything in such matters. And not to spell out the obvious - if "alpop" means a PC then it will never work. Serial numbers are platform specific and you cannotr swap them for legacy versions, only current ones, but since you missed your upgrade deadline then, you are going from bad to worse and need to buy a new license/ sign up for Creative Cloud.

Probably best to ask in the CS forum. If you still have the software keys for CS4, then upgrading to CS6 should work, but you need to check the upgrade policy on the Adobe Store to be sure. Generally you only need the software key to do the upgrade. If you do not have the key, then you may be up a creek unless you registered (as you should). If you registered, Adobe can likely help on getting you the keys needed for the upgrade. I suggest you confirm this in the CS forum.

  • Does anyone have a disc / installation file of Adobe CS4 and may make it available / sell?

Does anyone have a disc / installation file of Adobe Photoshop CS4 and may make it available or sell? I bought a group license in 2009, I've got serial number and certificate but unfortunately I've lost the cd. Now I have to re-install the application. Adobe does not support this version any longer and does not provide download file or CD of CS4. Could you help me?

You can download the software from this 3rd party website

I frequently use Lightroom 3.6 for tethered capture on location. If I sign up for Adobe cloud and upgrade to Lightroom 5, do I have to be online all the time to use it? In other words, can I still use the program off-line?

    Yes.
The only difference is the installation method and the ownership verification. The program still is installed on and runs from your local machine. You only have to hook up to the internet every 60-90 days to verify ownership.
    From the FAQ
Do I need to be online to access my desktop apps?
No, the desktop applications in Creative Cloud, such as Photoshop and Illustrator, are installed directly on your computer, so you don’t need an ongoing Internet connection to use them.
An Internet connection is required the first time you install and license your apps, but you can use the apps in offline mode with a valid software license. The desktop apps will attempt to validate your software licenses every 30 days.
Annual members can use the apps for up to 99 days in offline mode. Month-to-month members can use the software for up to 30 days in offline mode."

  • Adobe CS4 and Canon Scanner LiDE35

    I have Adobe CS4 and a Canon LiDE35 scanner. (Mac OS X 10.5.6)
Although I've downloaded the latest scanner driver from Canon, the scanner is unrecognized in, for example, CS4's Photoshop.
I have a temporary work-around: Haven't yet uninstalled the CS2 that CS4 replaced. Looks like I can scan into CS2, save, close, and reopen in CS4.
Anybody know how to get this scanner to play well with CS4?
    Thanks.
    Andy

"Seems silly to use $1000 application as a UI for a scanner that costs less than $100"
Yep, plus the Canon "toolbox" was handy for other scanner uses, too. (Faxing, copying, etc.)
I deleted the latest Canon Toolbox software and reinstalled the older toolbox that came on disc with the scanner. It works fine with Mac OS X 10.5.6. Strange that the newer TB doesn't.
I'll give Canon an "A" for effort in the customer service department, though. Direct emails from me have been replied to promptly and personally.
The only suggestion I haven't tried that Canon suggests is moving the scanner connection from a USB hub directly to the computer.
    Might check out VueScan anyway.

  • Currently have CS3 can I skip CS4 and upgrade directly to CS5?

I currently have CS3 and was wondering do I need to get CS4 and then CS5?  Or can I skip and just upgrade?  I will be taking a class and the book is Adobe CS4 classroom in a box, will that be extremely different from CS5?  I don't want to have to pay for CS4 then CS5 too!

You will be hard pressed to find a legitimate copy of CS4.
The CS3 to CS5 Design Premium upgrade is available at Amazon for about $780 with free shipping: http://amzn.to/bcdcrU
You can save a bit on Design Standard at about $665 http://amzn.to/aMkmN7 but you're giving up an awful lot. This article on my website may be helpful: http://www.theindesignguy.com/purchase-advice.shtml

  • Help with CS4 and fireworks

Hey all, running out of time I am trying to set up a website for my sons baseball team this spring and I am in a little bit of a pickle. I am using DW CS4 and I have set up a slide show in fireworks CS4 as well, when I create the slideshow and test in a browser it works with no problem. Here is where the issue comes in to play, I create a sideshow using the the (player-black flash and when I import it into dreamweaver and set it up on my page I save the page and when I test I have no pictures show up. (I have included a screen shot) of  what happens. I have tried different type of players and they all do the same thing. I have watched videos on how to import the slide show into dw and as far as I know that is not the problem. I have downloaded the most current version of adobe flash player but still no luck. And this is the one thing that everybody wants more than anything the pictures of games. Can anyone give me some help or suggestions, I have downloaded a software called visual sideshow, but I like the way fireworks looks and I plan on adding more slides as the year goes on. For what it is worth I have the copy of Adobe master collection CS4, but being new to web design and watching videos on fireworks it seem to be the easiest to learn. Can anyone give me some feed back on what I may be doing wrong. By the way I am using Win7 if that matters any
    Thanks,

Fireworks is not the ideal solution for slideshows. Creating images, yes.

  • How to install LR5 via the Cloud? LR4 says no updates available. [was: Help with purchases and upgrades.]

    I am a CC member.
1- I can not find the chat support.
2- I need LR5 but my app says no updates, even though I am only on 4.
3- This site sends me in circles and my app is no help whatsoever. I have now updated to OS X Yosemite v10.10, and need LR5. I purchased CC for this reason, but I still don't see how to upgrade. After hours of installs and upgrades, I'm getting frustrated. Thanks for the help, its much appreciated.

AprilThisWay it is likely your Lightroom issue is related to having the incorrect Adobe Application Manager/Creative Cloud Desktop application installed.  The current release version is 1.8.0.447.  You can find additional details at Creative Cloud Help | Creative Cloud app for desktop | Release Notes.
I would recommend utilizing the uninstall instructions available in the link referenced in message #7.  Once you have run all the available uninstallers available in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder then please use the CC Cleaner Tool.  You can find details, and a download link, for the CC Cleaner tool at Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.
If you continue to experience difficulties can you please post what changes were made to your computer in addition to upgrading to Mac OS 10.10.

  • Can i run Adobe cs4 and Aperture 3.4.5 on mountain lion?

I have downgraded from mountain lion back to snow leopard only to find my old cs2 won't work,so i have decided to go back to mountain lion and upgrade to CS4.I just want confirmation that i will be able to use CS4 and Aperture 3.4.5 with mountain lion before i waste more $$$ please, cheers.

Yes, you can.  CS6 would probably be a better option but CS4 will work.  And Aperture 3.4.5 is the latest version and runs well on Mountain Lion.  Aperture 3.3 and later require Lion or Mountain Lion; they won't run on Snow Leopard.

  • Need help choosing models and upgrades

    Hi guys,
Basically I am stuck on a air few things with deciding what models along with upgrades to get. I am stuck between getting the MBP 15 inch 2.6GHz or the Retina 15 inch 2.3GHz. For starters I would say I want to use the MBP for general stuff like office and more complex programs like SSPS, surfing the net downloading movies and music and playing games like Rome total War amongst many other games etc. However, I think I have read the Retina display does not even work with all games?
Due to the relative low price I'm sure I will upgrade to 16 GB worth of RAM  If get the Retina MBP as you can't upgrade them further down the line (*****). I beleive with the Retina MBP there is no disk drive, so i can't directly insert DVD's or Burn files onto disks etc, but this can be overcome by buying the Apple USB Super Drive, am I correct?
The Retina display only has 256 GB flash storage and that is kinda of low, will it more then enough for what I want to use the MBP for? What would that flash storage not be enough for?
If I get the normal 15 inch 2.6Hz MBP then I will upgrade the screen Hi-res glossy widescreen display as I like to play games and watch movies. Is it worth upgrading the hardrive the improve seed, efficientcy and power performance?
Overall what model would you say best suites my needs thanks?

Actually I have been doing further research and I personally would either go with the 2.6GHz NON RETINA MBP or cough up the cash and go all out on a 2.6GHz RETINA MBP and upgrade the RAM to 16GB  and upgrade to 768GB Flash storage, I am a student as well so will get a discount which will help.
My fears are that if I get the Retina model I will not be able to upgrade it even further, I want to keep the computer for at least a good 5 years, during those 5 to 8 years will the current upgrades be enough to keep up with the top games and programs etc? Also I have read that repairing the Retina display model is very diffcult  and it can malfunction commonly, so I am guessing I should get apple care on top of it just to be sure with this particular model?
I am assuming that they they will bring out the new models out next year and all the chinks and bugs of the current Retina model will be fixed so to speak, of which I have read there is a few... Would it be worth buying the NON RETINA MBP and then selling and upgrading to an improved RETINA MBP model next year?
Finally if i back up my files on a hardrive would I have to use the USP SUPER DRIVE to install files onto the RETINA MBP or can i directly do this without the USP SUPERDRIVE?
    Thanks

  • Help Adobe Muse and Adobe BC setup

    Hello,
My client made a NEW Adobe account and bought an Adobe BC Webmarketing plan. He wants a website with a blog, and thankfully I know how to do that.
But I have no idea on how to publish the website. If I use the publish button on Muse it will only display the BC websites that I made with my account. Usually every site I have made with Adobe BC is under my own Adobe account.
I would really like to know how to publish it. I am hoping there is an easy solution to this.

    Thank you!
However I found this solution in the forums: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1289534
Apparently I didn't search hard enough. Thank you very much for your quick reply!

  • Can I install Adobe CS3, and upgrade all the way through to CS5.5 on Lion?

    Hi,
I have registered Adobe Suite products since CS3 (DVDs) and been incrementally upgrading to CS5.5 on my Macbook Pro late 2008.
I recently bought a Mac Mini Server and I was wondering if I will be able to install my Adobe CS3 (imaged disks or external super drive) then run all my upgrades (see below) all the way through CS5.5 without any issues.
    1) Master Collection CS3 DVDs
    2) Design Premium CS4 DVDs
    3) Design Premium CS5 Download
    4) Design Premium CS5.5 Download
I have read somewhere that I could perhaps skip the 2 older CSx, and instead, just install my CS5 from download and enter the earlier serial numbers (CS3 + CS4) requested. But until I receive the Mac Mini with Lion, I cannot try this and confirm if this actually works.
Has anyone performed a similar installation on their Lion OS?
    Thank you.

  • Adobe CS4/Yosemite upgrade - nothing now works?

I did the usually software upgrade and now none of my CS4 apps work. Is this a known problem? Is there a work-around? Please.

Was this an incremental update from 10.10.2
or have you installed Yosemite for the first time.
If Yosemite is a new install you may need this in order to run your Adobe products.

  • Help on optimising and upgrading my PC for CS 5.5

Hi all, really need some help here.
I'm about to purchase CS 5.5 Master Suite and would like to increase the performance of my PC a little at the same time.
I dont need my PC totally optimised for Premiere as I will only use it to edit short YouTube video's and not that often (only make a few vid's a month).
The software I use all the time is: Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Fireworks, Bridge, Illustrator and the Flash programs.
My current PC has this spec:
    Asus P6T SE mobo
    i7 920 2.67 CPU
2 x Radeon HD 4890 Graphics cards (use 3 monitors)
    12 GB Ram
2 x WD Black 500GB (not in Raid)
    Mackie Firewire Audio Card
    Windows 7 Pro 64
What I would like to do is increase the performance of my PC without spending a fortune (woudn't we all).
My thoughts are add an SDD boot drive and put the 2 hard drives I have in Raid 0, then increase my ram from 12GB to 24GB (I would buy all the ram new so matched 1600).
What I would like is your views on these upgrades.
Do you think these would be good upgrades?
Would you do anything different? etc.
I have spent the past few days searching this forum and the net and the only thing I have achieved is a headache.
    Thanks in advance.

Depending upon what you want to do (are you planning on getting into high end video) it should be real nice. Make sure the SSD for boot has enough room for programs and O/S. I would suggest nothing less than 256 gigs.
You might want to pop over to the Premiere Pro and After Effects  forums for more advice on the video card.
BTW, if you by CS5.5 now, you'll a free upgrade to CS6 when it ships.

  • Poor interface with Adobe CS4 and setting the file size for emails

In frustrations over an unfixed bug in iPhoto (slide shows) in addition to too many limitations, I am trying out Aperture. So far it has been a big disappointment. I like Photoshop (CS4) with layers etc. as well as Adobe Camera Raw, both of which I intend to continue using. The workflow in Aperture appears disappointing (Photoshop) and totally absent (Adobe Camera Raw). It seems like Apple's attempt to capture some of Adobe's market share has has happened on the consumer's expense? Besides disappointing functionality, I have run into a surprising problem: No matter how I set the email photo export preset in preferences, the attachment shows up as a large file when exported to Entourage. The size does not change no matter how I set this preference.
My 21 years of loyalty and enthusiasm towards Apple has taken some heavy blows lately. With some 15000 photos and 35+ albums in iPhoto, I don't see too many alternatives. Can someone tell me if there is a way around these problems.

First of all I am not comparing Aperture to Photoshop by expecting the layers function. It is the interface between the two I am questioning. We obviously also have different expectations to Aperture. Mine are solely based on my experiences with iPhoto and what Apple tells me on their website:" Aperture 3 is a professional photography application that lets you refine images, showcase your photography, and manage massive photo libraries. Aperture 3 gives you all the easy-to-use tools you need to import, organize, compare, enhance, and share your photos." I do not find a single sentence stating that it is primarily a "Raw image editor processor" as you are defining it. I was not looking for a new raw editor. I was, however, based on Apple's claims above, expecting a combined advanced editing an photo library application. As such I also expected layers. That is not comparing it to Photoshop. Naturally our views are based on expectations and experiences, and ours are just different, that is all.
