HELP!!!! Adobe will not recognise my serial number - trying to upgrade from LR4 to LR5

Help... I purchased Adobe Lightroom 4 in January 2013 via Amazon. I am now trying up upgrade to Lightroom 5 (via the Adobe site), and it will not recognise my serial number. Has anyone experienced this before? I do not want to buy into the Cloud scheme, so happy to pay the upgrade for my LR. I have all payment details from Amazon.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I am in the installation section. There are 3 options on page:
1) I have a serial number and want to license Lightroom
2) need a serial umber? Buy - using your web browser
3) 30 day trial
I assumed that because I already had a serial number from my LR4 purchase, I select the first option, go from there and pay for the upgrade. When I select that, it takes me to another page where I need to enter a serial number. This is where I am getting stuck.

Could you please let me know what error prompts on your screen when you are trying to enter the serial number.
Have you bought subscription for Acrobat, if yes then you might need to sign in at "adobe.com" using your Adobe ID credentials to activate subscription.

Re-installation of Acrobat 9 will not accept the serial number I am copying from adobe's website.

I have installed a new hard drive in my computer and am re-installing Acrobat 9. When I pull my serial number off of the acrobat website, it gets rejected and won't install, even when I copy it directly so there aren't any typo's. Do the serial numbers expire?

Have you purchased a retail version of Acrobat or it is part of suite?

Help desk will not accept my serial number

When entering serial number of my imac, I get error message stating that serial number is invalid.

Go to the menu bar and click on the Apple > then About This Mac, now then right under the large Mac OS X click on Version then Build and enter that exact serial # into the help desk box.

I presume it is a mac serial number, because i have only ever used it on iMacs. I have transferred the software to several different Mac's over the past 7 or 8 years, but this is the first time I have not had the serial number recognised. The serial number is on the back of the box, which contains 3 CD's for Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard.

Installation will not accept my serial number to install Adobe 8

I have a Dell XPS M1530, laptop. I installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 on my computer in March, and the program worked correctly. I had Windows Vista on my computer. I just did a clean installation of Windows 7 to replace Vista. I cannot reinstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 because Adobe installation will not accept my serial number. If so then is there a specific reason you are needing to reinstall? Is this a new installation on a new computer?
