HELP! After doing a recent update (Version4.4.2) on my Droid Razr M my messaging has stopped working. Every time I try to open to sent a text I get ,"Unfortunately, messaging has stopped" message. Any ideas on how to correct this issue??? not liking this at all!!!

Ok got in touch with Live Chat and fixed it. Go to app manager and open messaging there. Clear cache, data then force stop. That fixed it! But when I opened messaging I could only read messages couldn't reply. At the top of the screen was a message asking to set default either as Google hangouts or SMS. once you set the default messaging should be fully functional. Hope it helps.

I get the itunes has encounterd a problem and needs to close, sorry for the inconvenience error, no specific error number. I do not have QT installed,
not having QT installed is what will be causing your itunes error message at the moment. let's try a careful standalone QT 7.1 install.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.

if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

I figured out the problem. You must click on settings under each Podcast and re-subscribe.

ddmathias, I want to make sure all services are working correctly on your phone. What GPS services were you using before the update happened? What kind of issues are you having with the services? Do you get any kind of errors? Please keep us posted.

My G5's hard drive died after doing a software update while iPhone was connected.

My G5's hard drive was corrupted and unbootable after doing a software update while my iPhone 4 was connected. Coincidence or related?
Attempts at rebooting produced the file folder icon with flashing question mark. It's been a LONG time since I last saw that.
Disk Utility/First Aid reported that drive had "invalid node structure." The disk could not be repaired because it "could not be unmounted."
Is the failure possibly related to the iPhone being connected at the time of the software update and restart?

Possible the iPhone had something to do with it, but I like to make sure the Disk Directory & Permissions are good before any update.
Was that Repair/Verify done when booted from the Install Disc?
You must repair the HD, if Disk Utility or fsck should fail to repair it then...
Your best bet is DiskWarrior, you need the CD/DVD though.

What upgrade did you apply? As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

After doing last Mavericks update, Messages is not working properly

Since yesterday, after doing last Mavericks update, Messages is not working properly - the Dock icon is not bouncing nor showing any number for new messages. Very annoying, since I usually have Messages on background while working and I now i don't realize if people is chatting me unless I open the messages wondows.

Check System Preferences > Notification is set for Messages
In Messages > Preferences > General Section change the Sound option for Message Received.
Restart the app and test this sound is (still) playing.
Place app in background an iMessages "yourself" form your iPhone.
Does the sound Play ?

The majority are "unfortunately, messaging has stopped", but you can replace messaging with "android os", or any other process, as it happens with more than just messaging. I have had numerous people call and ask why I didn't reply to their texts...and I look, but have not received any new texts. YES, I have restarted phone. I have cleared data as well as cache on all apps. I have downloaded the vzw messaging app, which seems silly, since it happens with several different processes and apps, but all to no avail. I am missing texts from my employer, from my family. This did happen, but rarely, before this "soak test". It is now Kitkat version 19.6.3.obake_verizon.en.US. THIS is when I started having problems...like 50 times a day kind of problems! I have seen hundreds of posts all over the internet over the past 3 days. Does no one know how to fix this??? Shouldn't there be a way to revert phone to a pre-update state? and no, hard reset did NOT work!!!! I have been with verizon for well over 15 years, but I have not upgraded my lines and will not in July either. This is ridiculous. It's not like my games aren't working, it is my messaging and "android os"...my lifeline at work!

Oh no, I am sorry to hear your messages are not working since the software update. I greatlly appreciate doing all that troubleshooting to try and get the messaging application back in business. I know how much I rely on my messages so I can understand the urgency to get this resolved. Have you had a resolution ticket opened since you started experiencing issues with your messages? Does this happen with all contacts or just some? Please provide additional information to ensure we get to the bottom of this for you.

Updating the OS will not remove any apps, so you need to check out what went wrong there.
Where did you get iPhoto from? Is that a recent Mac? If so you can re-download it from the App Store. It'll be on your Purchases list.
