Shane is trying to find out if you're working with material that's not in a fcp friendly format, like h264. It's also possible that your sequence is corrupt. Create a new sequence with the same settings, make the old sequence active, select all (command-a) copy (command-c), make the new sequence active and paste (command-v)

When i try to watch synced video on my itouch i get "the requested url cannot be found on this server". I am able to watch the video on my pc in itunes. however, i cannot watch it on my itouch.

This is happening to me too. I recently purchased about 4 music videos from iTunes, 3 of them play on both my pc and my iPod Touch but there's one particular music video that will only play on my pc and gives me the same "The requested url cannot be found on this server" message when I try to play it on my iPod. The iPad doesn't and never will support the Flash program. You will need to download and install a different browser like the aforementioned Skyfire. Photon and Puffin are also mentioned as browsers that support Flash. Or see if the place you're accessing that video from has an app.

Need help with rendering my files..."preparing video for display."

I don't know if I sent something to the trash folder from Final Cut, but for some reason all of my files in the timeline are unrendered, and every time I render them a message appears saying that it is "preparing video for display," and then they are unrendered again. What is this? Did I send something to the trash folder that keeps doing this? Is it a settings mode? Does it have to do with the space on my drives?

I'm having the same problems.
A friend of mine told me to trash the render files and re-render my whole project. He finds it some times gets rid of some of the glitches when you render along the way in steps.
I trashed the render files and of course the project says I need to re-render which I do. I can save the project, close it, and when it opens I get the "preparing video for display". Once that's done it has nothing rendered at all.
So I re-render, and its fine. I tab to another window and then back and it gives me the same message, completes and all my stuff is un-rendered.
So now I have a project that every time I render it can't save it or somehow it deletes the render files if I tab out of the program.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".

When I upload/import a .AVI video into MPEG Streamclip, I lose the audio.

Whenever I upload a .AVI video into MPEG Streamclip, I lose the audio. The video plays fine in Quicktime but when I upload into MPEG Streamclip, the audio is replaced with some "clicking" sounds. Can someone please help me resolve this and fix it so that my audio gets imported as well? By the way, this is a problem that is only with .AVI files. When I try importing MP4 videos, they work fine and the audio gets imported as well. I need to resolve this so that I can convert my videos from .AVI to DV format with the sound. Thanks!

Basically you can only add a video file to Itunes if it is either MP4 or the other supported format h2.. <---- i forget what its called i had this problem when i first plugged my i-pod in and got extremely aggitated until i realised and sorted it
that said i dont therefore understand the convert for i-pod button when the only video files able to be added are already in ipod compatible format? doesnt make sense to me but then maybe im missing something i mean i am a nOOb!

Skipping after rendering when transitions are added

Hey all,
I'm having an issue with the most recent version of Final Cut.
I am trying to add a smooth cross-dissolve between clips in V1 and V2. When I originally add the transition, and move the playhead manually with the arrow keys, the transition is smooth. However, once I render the transition, my video jumps.
To be specific with what happens, the transition itself is smooth, but once the dissolve finishes, the same video that was seen in the dissolve replays normally.
I have tried adding extra handles, moving them both into the same V1 line, and even tried different transition effects, but the same thing keeps happening.
How can I fix it?

Check to be sure the disk format is what iMovie requires.
Also rule out third-party iMovie plug-ins and QuickTime add-ons that might be causing trouble.

ssafari quit unexpectedly I keep pressing reopen button but nothing. Bt told me to put imac into safe mode, could this be the problem.

Thank you so much for replying. However I was about to remove this post. I worked out how to do it!
If anyone is having similar issues then turn off mirroring and change the arrangement in display preferences so that the monitor works as the main display and the macbook just shows the desktop. I then turned down the brightness levels on the macbook to conserve power.

10.7.4 is the latest update of MacOS X Lion. Run Software Update in System Preferences.
Since you state to run 10.7.2, Software Update will have to use the combo updater to bring it up to 10.7.4. This will entail a large download that will take some time so have patience. I suggest the following steps:

So my ipod hasnt been updated in forever. when i finally decided to update it i plugged it in to the computer and it said some kind of error and also said itunes cannot connect to your ipod. i tried updating my itunes it didnt work any ideas?

Are you OK with translating the language English to Dutch? Have you been using the Translate button at the bottom right of the posts to translate what is written in English to Nederlands (Dutch)? Is the major problem that you cannot find the locations that I point to in Premiere Elements?
1. What are the properties of the video that you are putting on the Timeline? The quick way to find this
information is knowing brand/model/settings of the camera that recorded the video on the Timeline.
From this question I am trying to find out what the properties are for your video - video compression, audio compression, frame size, interlaced or progressive, file extension, pixel aspect ratio. I was hoping that you could tell me the brand/model/settings of the camera recording the video so that I could find the information myself.
2. What are you setting (manually) or the project (automatically) as the project preset that will match
the properties of the video that you are importing? If you do not know, then tell us what you see under
Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and the readouts for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel
Aspect Ratio, even if the fields look grayed out.
Besides knowing the properties of your video, it is just as important to know the project settings. Are you setting them yourself or just dragging the video to the Timeline and letting the project set the project preset automatically? If you are doing nothing, then the answer is that the project is doing the setting automatically.
Either way, you can find out what is being set by going to Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and looking for the reading that you see in the following screenshot.
3. The next big question is "What do you mean by rendering?"
Do you see these black borders after you render the Timeline content in the Edit area to get the best
possible preview of what you are seeing in the Edit area monitor?

If your "rendering" refers to the export of the Timeline, please tell us Publish+Share/and then what?

button above the Timeline.

All of a sudden audio needs re-rendering when i do ANYTHING at all...

I've had to rerender the audio (from the beeping) after I did something to the audio (i.e. increased the base volume levels), but editing the associated video never made me re-render the audio before. For some reason, now the audio needs rerendered after each edit, or even just when I move through the project. I've been editing for weeks now and I have not seen this before. I'm working from the same batch of .dv video. I don't think I've done anything differently, why is FCE acting differently and thwarting my progress.
Help.

yes, this was high-8 footage digitized via imovie.
i have it in hour long .dv files.
i'm multiple files into the project, following the same protocol I have been from the beginning, and for some reason, now its needing re-rendered more often than previously.
previously, audio needed re-rendered at least twice, once when i started the new sequence and once after i changed the audio levels.
now it needs re-rendered on a hair trigger.
when i click between tracks or move through the video at all, or breathe, the whole dern audio needs re-rendered again.
what is different? what am i doing different between this sequence and the last?
the last clip was .dv and imported from imovie in the same batch. i don't get it.

You need to help us first ...
Computer specs:
OS, CPU, RAM, GPU, vRAM ... and also disc layout & connections can be useful (as in, "2 internal hard-drives and an external on Thunderbolt connection for exports")
Program specs:
Specific build of Premier Pro from the bottom of the "About" splash screen off the "Help" menu is best.
Footage file type: MXF, AVCHD, MOV, m2s, what?
Even the camera it was shot on can be of interest at times.
And did you use media browser to import, then project panel to drag & drop?
