Help-- all downloaded songs deleted

When I wasn using iTunes just now, I got a message that said "iTunes cannot recognize some songs because the software is not recognized" (something to that effect, I don't remember the exact wording). I pressed OK and all of my downloaded songs are now deleted. My ipod was plugged in so they got erased from the ipod as well. The songs uploaded from CD are still there. How can I get them back? Why did this error message happen? I have the most recent version of iTunes, and I can't think of how this happened. Thanks in advance.

I think the new update for itunes has a bug on it cause last night it gave me a message for a song saying something like I didn't have permission or the song was copyrighted. I have had the same music on my Pod for months and that just happened after I downloaded the new Update.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • How can I get iTunes library on my laptop to play all downloaded songs/videos?

Not all my songs/videos play in the iTunes library on my laptop.  I also have songs on an iPod and and iPod shuffle, and made a separate playlist for my iPhone and iPad.  How can I listen to all my downloaded songs on my laptop again?

You can't; iTunes doesn't have the code necessary to play DVDs, not even ones you created.

  • Help with downloading songs?

I have an old ipod and a newish computer. I downloaded itunes, and I want to download the songs from the ipod onto the account. Some of the songs on the ipod were not bought from the itunes store. They are from old cds that I don't have anymore, so I can't take the chance of losingthem. I see a sync button, but it just wants me to take the songs off the ipod and sync what is on the computer onto the ipod. How do I put what is on the ipod onto the computer? Thank you!!!

  • Downloaded songs suddenly lost

Having transferred downloaded songs from itunes onto my ipod, i find that they play for a few days, but then suddenly won't play at all until I reconnect my ipod to my computer again. This only affects all downloaded songs, tracks from imported cds still play as normal. Help! Thanks:)

Sounds like your iPod is resetting for some reason. It's 'losing' it's authorization. If syncing every couple days to your computer bugs you . . . you could try restoring Your Ipod to Factory Settings. If that doesn't fix it, you could just exchange it or return it to Apple for 'repair'.

  • Ipod downloaded song, but ipod wont play it

Please help, i downloaded songs on to my daughters ipod, but now they wont play. Other songs downloaded will play, but not the few she really loves. I also noticed that the
album covers dont match the song on the screen.... can anyone help me???

I would try and reset your daughters iPod (http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/). If that doesn't work, then you might want to use the Restore function in iTunes. Also, you will want to make sure you are using the newest version of iTunes. To check to see if you have the newest version, click Help in iTunes, then scroll down to 'Check For Updates'. If you have already tried all of these, or are not having any luck, please reply back to this post. Good luck

  • My new I5 uploaded doubleded all the songs from my library! Please, can somebody help me showing how can I delete just the songs that was doubled?

    Hi there everybody,
My new Iphone 5 uploaded doubleded all the songs from my library! Please, can somebody help me showing how can I delete just the songs that was doubled?
Some help will be greatly appreciate.
    Thanks much!

When you say "account," do you mean your iTunes library, because your iTunes library is what is on your computer?  Your iTunes library does not have an email address.  An account that is related to iTunes is your Apple ID (which is an email address) and you use it as your user name to sign in to the iTunes Store, to make purchases.  Changing your Apple ID will not make songs disappear from your computer's iTunes library.
If you had an Apple ID and used it to make song purchases from the iTunes Store, and then started using a different Apple ID, you should be able to re-download the songs purchased with the old Apple ID.  In iTunes, sign in to the iTunes Store using your OLD Apple ID (and password).  That may not be your current email address, but Apple uses it as your user name, so it does not matter.
On the iTunes Store Home screen, click on Purchased under QUICK LINKS.  This takes you do the Purchased screen, where you can re-download previous song purchases (for that Apple ID) at no cost.
NOTE:  If those song purchases are from more than a few years ago, you may also need to authorize your computer to play (and sync) songs for your old Apple ID.
For songs that were not purchased from the iTunes Store, if they are also gone, you cannot get them back unless you have a backup (or they are still loaded on your old iPod).
If that's not what you mean by "changed the email address on my account," please post back with more details.

  • After deleting my music (by mistake) I can't download all my songs back onto my phone

I accidently deleted all my music off my phone.
I plugged my phone into my laptop to sync all the songs back on the phone.
When i checked the phone certain songs haven't gone back on the phone. They can be played on the laptop but they wont sync over and when I press the cloud button on the phone (to re-download) it wont do it.
It seems to be songs that I downloaded on my phone directly that have been effected.
How do I get the songs back onto my phone without buying them again
    Please help!!

The other disadvantage to manually managing that I see is that if you ever have to Restore the iPhone (and you will someday) you'll have to remember which songs you had previously loaded when you get the iPhone up and running.  Restoring your backup won't put these songs back onto your iPhone.
But if you define what you want on your iPhone with one or more playlists in your library, and then auto-sync to those playlists, then they're always available and you don't have to re-create anything should you ever need to Restore.  You'll still have to re-load them, but at least you don't have to try to figure out what you had loaded before.
The other issue with manually managing is that you lose the bi-directional sync of ratings and play history.  It sounds like it used to work with the iPhone (unlike every other i-device) but it appears that functionality is no longer supported.  But if you auto-sync to a playlist, etc. then you always keep this information backed up to iTunes.

  • I recently downloaded Ios 7 and all the songs that i have purchased before but deleted off my itunes because i didn't want them showed up. I don't know how to delete them off my ipod and i really don't want them there

I recently downloaded Ios 7 and all the songs that i have purchased before, but deleted off my itunes because i didn't want them, showed up. I don't know how to delete them off my ipod and i really don't want them there. Is there a way to get them off? The songs dont show up in my itunes on my computer, just on my ipod with a download button next to them. I don't want them there anymore because i don't like that kind of music anymore and i don't know how to get them to go away.

There is a similar setting for Videos on that Settings screen, so if you leave that 'on' you may have similar happening in the Videos app

  • I deleted all my songs off my hard drive and I went to download them again, and i can't, is this normal?

I deleted all my songs because for some reason they were all duplicated on my list, so i had to listen to every one of them twice so I didn't want to have the same problem when I redownloaded it.
I'm new to the digital era so you can only download the songs you pay for once? This isn't a joke right?

  • On plugging my iPod to the iMac, all the songs got deleted on the iPod. Now it doesn't sync to iTunes and it shows that 'mac os can't repair the device'. How can I get my iPod to start functioning normally again? Please help!

Hey! I plugged my 80 gb ipod classic to my imac, but had to switch it off when itunes hung. The ipod wasn't switching on , and when it did, all the data, including all my songs were deleted. Now, when I try syncing it to the mac, it doesn't connect to the itunes and I keep getting an alert saying ' Mac osx can't repair the device'. Now, althought all the data is gone, the ipod still shows 30 gb free. What will happen if I partiton my ipod? How do I get it to start functioning again? Please help!

Try a low level reformat of the iPod's hard drive to possibly try and repair some of its damage. Use the instructions in this article to walk you through the process.

  • Downloaded iBooks on my Macbook Pro but when I tried to sync it on my iPhone, this appeared: "Are you sure you want to sync books? All existing songs, movies and TV shows on the iPhone "My iPhone" will be removed". Love the iBooks as well as music. HELP!

Downloaded iBooks on my Macbook Pro but when I tried to sync it on my iPhone, this appeared: "Are you sure you want to sync books? All existing songs, movies and TV shows on the iPhone “My iPhone” will be removed". Love the iBooks as well as music. I really don't want to loose my music. HELP!!!

From the message you are receiving, it sounds like you either, 1) haven't synced your iPhone with that computer before, 2) are using two different iTunes accounts, or 3) both.  If you have purchased music or movies through your iPhone with a certain iTunes account and purchased books through iBooks on your MacBook through a different iTunes account then there is no having both on the phone.
Apple doesn't allow content from two different accounts on a device at the same time.  Also if two "libraries" have been created, one on the iPhone and one on the Macbook then syncing will erase data that is not associated with that particular library.
If you are using the same iTunes account for both, then you should be able to redownload any purchased items (music, books, etc.) from iCloud, assuming you have set that up.
    I hope this helps!
