Im trying to get results from a broad range of people to see if thier steppings acually affect overclocking. When i mean stepping i dont mean the CG or CO i mean the 5 digit steppings.
I need every A64 user in this forum to post here youre results on youre cpu. What cpu type you have newcastle or clawhammer, desktop, mobile, DTR ? Max stable overclock. Type of cooling used, voltage and cpu temps. I also need you to post youre cpu's Revision (CO,CG ect.) also post if its AR AX or AP which can easily spotted on the model number.
I also need you to post youre stepping which is the 5 digit code on the cpu. Beggining with C, exsamples are CAABC, CAAJC, CBASC, also post the week and year it was built (ex. 0404 ) along with the 4 digit code after that which should be like UMPW or XPMW.
Basicly what it should look like is this. Take a look at ur cpu and copy all the info and post it here.

Disclaimer: Thier are some retailers that are selling so called Newcastle Core A64's that are actually Clawhammers with half the cache disabled. If you somehow have CO stepping newcastle which can be reconised by the AP at the end of the model number please make sure you include that in youre post.

In my opinion the 5 letters do affect overclockability, as my old 3200+ CO revision was a CAAPC and it was a porr overlocker. This one is better, yet still not great, and others on the web that have 3400+ and are getting great results with other steppings, 2.6Ghz+ at decent voltages.
does the 0408 mean ti was manufactured in the 8th week of 2004? -
Need help with the "Erase Free Space" disk utility
When I use Disk Utilities to Erase Free Space (I use the single zero mode) I get a message telling me,
"Your Startup Disk is almost Full,
you need to make more space available
on your startup disk by deleting files."
This occurs about 90% of the way through the process (based on where the blue bar is at the time) during the "Creating Temporary File" portion of the process. I know from past experience that I will remain in this portion of the process forever unless I press the "Skip" button to complete the process.
My questions,
1. What is the startup disk and why is it full?
2. What should I do about the Your Startup Disk is Almost Full warning?
3. Is my computer actually talking about "regular" disk space (I currently have about 9GB of 80GB free but have seen this warning with 30GB available as well).
4. When I press "Skip" and the blue bar continues to complete the process, have I actually erased free space?
PBG4 15" 80GB HD 1GB RAM Mac OS X (10.4)The Disk Utility does the erase by creating large temporary files, writing to them, then deleting them. While doing this, OSX may notice the lack of free space on the disk. This is normal, but could cause problems if you are also running some applications that want some disk space. If you let if finish, it should delete the temporary files and free the disk space.
I prefer to run the Disk Utility from the Tiger install disk when doing a Verify, Repair, or Erase Free Space on my boot disk, so I know I won't be interfering with anything running. -
Help--all the files in my user account just disappeared
I have a 10.4 Intel Mac Mini with a few different accounts on it. There are two Administrator accounts, one called "bill" and one called "Administrator". The former is my main account I use daily. All accounts on this machine have File Vault enabled.
I was logged in to "bill" last night. I wasn't doing anything special, just running Firefox and iTunes. I went to bed still logged in with the Login Window up. This morning, when I tried to reenter the account my password was refused. After spending several minutes confirming that I was typing the correct password, the caps lock wasn't on, etc., I power cycled the machine. After booting back up, the account "bill" still erroneously refused my password. So I logged in as "Administrator". I tried to reset the "bill" password through the User Account control panel applet, but the Reset Password button was grayed out. Finally I went into the Finder and looked under /Users/bill and saw that the folder was empty. No Desktop, Documents, etc. folder. There is one hidden file in this directory called .autodiskmounted which is zero bytes long.
The other accounts on this machine are all fine. You can log into them and the files in their home directories are intact.
I didn't do anything obvious to cause this problem. I hadn't upgraded any software, wasn't running any new apps, wasn't deleting a bunch of files. This is clearly not a hardware failure because the other accounts are unaffected.
So obviously this a serious problem. Though I have backups of some stuff, I've still lost data that I won't be able to recover. I'm also now more wary of OS X because I've never seen a user account self-destruct like this before. Not on UNIX, not on Windows, so I'd really like to understand the problem in order to get my trust level in Apple back up.
A few questions:
1. Any ideas what happened?
2. Any ideas on how to recover my data? (Or is it, as I suspect, gone?)
3. Is there any auditing I can do from the "Administrator" account now to figure out what might have happened in my self-immolated "bill" account?
4. The main data loss problem is that I don't have a backup of my iTunes purchases. (I know, I know; I was getting around to buying a backup DVD when this happened.) I've still got all my purchased music on my iPod. Is there a way to transfer this music back to a new account on my Mac Mini?

Thank you Carolyn, I understand that and do use the same P/w for both the iphone and the computer and the apps were origionally for the iphone anyway, they just used to back on the computer and now they wont and the imac even cancels them off my iphone when I sync. And it says "Itunes" has made an error, try again...with the coes -54 and -50. This means I canot ack up my iphone properly.

Threatening to cancel (knowing you aint going nowhere).
I for one weighed the pros and cons to the new plans, and even though I DID NOT HAVE TO, I realized that saving 30 bucks a month was worth it. Will it work for everyone? New customers? NO. Do old have to switch? No. So whats the real complaint?

I keep seeing conflicting statements being made regarding customers wanting to keep their unlimited data plans having to pay full price for a new phone. Because I have never receieved anything from Verizon indicating this, I have been somewhat skeptical of all the info presented on this forum.

Logging into "myverizon" and checking on upgrade eligibility for my primary line I was quite surprised to see that I could get the latest and greatest phone at a subsidized price and still retain my unlimited data plan. Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details. The standard answer with all text issues simply is, that you have a "bad font" on your system and need to get rid of it.

I have a iPhone 4S and when watching videos on the internet sound cuts out as the video is playing. The rest of the video plays with no sound. Sometimes when I pause It and play again sound comes back but not all the time. can anyone help?

Need more specifics about what error messages you got while installing Adobe Flash.
However, you can almost avoid Flash altogether by setting YouTube to play the HTML5 version instead.

I don't know about the sound issue. Might be hardware as you think. Try other headphones to check. -

i just cant get the devices thing to come up in the tab on the left. i am pretty sure everything is up to date and the phone is charging through the mac book usb port. i have also tried this link http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591 that all the google searches take me to but it no help. i am not very good with computers so spastic easy language would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance
Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too. -

Having the imei won't help you find your phone.
If you setup and enabled find my phone prior to losing it then go to icloud.com
If you didn't set it up - then there nothing you can do.
