Help and Information with Wine Package Arch64
Hello,
Sorry if i put this in the wrong area or anything like, i'm new on Arch and on this forum and sorry about my poor english, i'm from Brazil,english it's not my native language
I'm using Arch for 2 days, i was a Debian user, actually, i'm still have Debian on my master hard drive, but, i'm planning to change for arch because i really like the distro.
I was giving a shot with Arch and i really liked alot the system, it's really simple, really fast, really stable and the most important to me: REALLY UPDATED!
Well, i need more like an information, and i cant find-it. I'm maintainer of some apps at WineHQ and i prefer to use Wine Development release instead of the Stable Release,
The wine now is in Stable with no development release (Wine 1.6), and i really don't know if the Arch Packages maintain the Stable (most likely) or when there's a Development release they jump to the next Development release (i think will be 1.7.0).
If the wine will continue on stable release, i want to know how to compile a package to Wine Development (and in the future, i may create a AUR package to help the Arch Community, something like wine-dev).
Well, i've tryed the basic (classic) steps (configure,make,make install), but, on debian i have the apt-get build-dep to get all wine compilation dependencies and on arch i can't find then.
On the configure i get the following dependencies missing:
configure: libOSMesa 32-bit development files not found (or too old), OpenGL rendering in bitmaps won't be supported.
configure: OpenCL 32-bit development files not found, OpenCL won't be supported.
configure: libhal 32-bit development files not found, no legacy dynamic device support.
configure: lib(n)curses 32-bit development files not found, curses won't be supported.
configure: libsane 32-bit development files not found, scanners won't be supported.
configure: libgphoto2 32-bit development files not found, digital cameras won't be supported.
configure: libgphoto2_port 32-bit development files not found, digital cameras won't be auto-detected.
configure: liblcms 32-bit development files not found, Color Management won't be supported.
configure: gstreamer-0.10 base plugins 32-bit development files not found, gstreamer support disabled
configure: libcapi20 32-bit development files not found, ISDN won't be supported.
configure: libgsm 32-bit development files not found, gsm 06.10 codec won't be supported.
I'm trying to install lib32-* packages via pacman but, even then, i can't solve this dependencies to compile.
I'm also instaled the base-devel package
I'm searched on both Arch Official Packages and AUR but i can't find a wine-dev package/pkgbuild.
Sorry if i said something stupid or wrong, i'm new on the arch system, i'm still learning how everything work rsrs.

For building wine you'll need to install the multilib-devel group .
Also read up on ABS and makepkg in the wiki.

bought my 1st apple 4 days ago. ipad2air - always used Wins8 & MS on pc - so finding apple v different. When set up on Saturday with help from friend used to tablet. I used thumbprint for id - worked for 1 day and now nothing. Also both user ID and pw were written on paper Sat and already by yesterday were not recognised. Just can't suss out this tablet and don't like it already - cost me 399€! ++ 100€ for 2 essential accessories. Any ides anyone before I throw it away?

We would like to create 2 App-V packages with the
Office Deployment Tool
- Visio Std 2013
- Project Std 2013.
The App-V packages are created successfully, the problem is that the package-id of both packages is the same.
When we deploy for example, Visio to a client and afterwards Project, Visio gets replaced in App-V by Project.
Is anyone else facing this issue ?So I wanted to bring everybody up to speed on some changes. You can manage multiple Office packages by generating different PACKAGEGUID attributes (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219426.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396)
using the Office Deployment Toolkit BUT - the following still applies:
Only one Office package can be deployed to a machine at a time.
Only VL and Subscription Pro options are available for packaging via App-V.

Steve is there any chance this stance may change, or is there any feedback we can give (we have already followed up with our TAM and have also put in tickets but effectively have not gone anywhere other then to explain what the model of support is)?
To be perfectly honest its a very hard model to support since users are licenses for Visio and Project separately, not to mention the lack of user publishing (targeting) and Office Standard support.
We have put in advisory and problem tickets with MS for months in hopes of using the ODT packages in our non persistent VDI environment but I don't believe it will possible.
In short if we have to separate our images or pools to support the various possibilities we are losing what App-V gains us: on demand (per user) publishing to limit the number of gold images we need.
The loss of Office Standard support also leaves us in a tricky spot, because at the end of the day we have to find a way to support those users.
Not looking to put you on the spot, just hoping there is a way to give effective feedback or discuss how to use the ODT packages in a way that makes life easier, not more restrictive. -
Help and questions with a belkin router
so I am new to wireless networking. I bought a Belkin MIMO router, the connection is great. Took phone support to help with set up because not as straight forward as I thought it would be. My only concern is: When I tried to set up WEP encryption my mac wouldn't recognize the password...
.in the end the tech guy said not to use a password.
Question 1: Anybody have problems with setting up a password with a belkin router?
Question 2: does this mean anyone who can see my network can ride along for free?
Question3: does this mean people can see what sites I am using (like bank sites)
The tech support said there was built in firewall and was enough protection. Is there something I should be doing on my mac as well?
I don't mind so much others 'using' my connection. I just want it secure. I am soon ridding of wired PC so i will do banking online and want protection.....
(BTW I am also considering getting a belkin with USB port for my printer to print wireless with my mac laptop)
TIAIf you do not setup a password, then your network is open for everyone to access - which is a bad thing in case you are wondering. Try using your password, but put a "$" in front of it. Some users have reported problems setting up WEP and sometimes adding that "$" works for some reason.
As far as using that Canon printer wirelessly, if you have it connected to another computer, then you can print to it using printer sharing with no problems at all. If you want to have it free standing with no Mac/PC connected to it, then you will have to either get a wireless print server for it, go with Bluetooth, or use Apple's Airport which has a built-in print server.
Since you already have the router, then using another PC as the print server or getting a print server is probably the way to go. -
I have an Intel iMac with the latest Leopard software. I mainly use this computer to run Windows 7 via Bootcamp. IF I installed Lion, would it effect my present Bootcamp Windows partition?
I read somewhere that a buyer of Lion can install the one copy one on more than one Apple computer. We have 3 in the house (iMac 21.5, MBP 15 and a Mini Mac.) Is it true I can use one copy on all 3 computers? If so, is there an optional DVD installation disk?Lion will not affect your Boot Camp partition.
As long as all 3 Mac's use the same AppleID you can purchase one license of Lion and install it on the other machines. If they use individual AppleID's you must purchase a license for each computer. Finally in August Apple will begin distributing Lion on a USB drive for $69, they have not announced a specific date. -
Exam 70-687 and changed with win 8.1
I realize this exam may be in the little leagues but I have been training for it for my new job for about 2 months.
I've put quite a bit of money and TIME into it so far. I have seen the PDF with the changes and everything..
I mostly just want to know if anybody has taken the exam yet and if it is extremely different and whether or not there is any material on it yet. (besides google/bing)

I Just want unscripted help and information
I reported total loss of service this morning, but have had nothing but scripted replies from the call centre. All I want to know is why I have no service and why it is going to take until the end of the week to resolve. I have two children studying A levels who need to do research and homework on line, the cloud is a wonderful thing, so glad that schools have adopted it so keenly. I was also due to work from home this week but now will have to commute to the office. PLEASE B.T just explain whats wrong and why it's going to take so long!!!! Do I still pay line rental when I have no service, and no it is not my internal wiring before I get asked that again!!!!! Thank you for listening to my rant.
It can take anything from a day to several weeks to fix a fault, and nobody will know until an Openreach engineer locates the problem.
The worst case is probably when the problem is with a cable running under a public highway. Openreach can't just dig up the road - they have to get a permit from the local council first, then employ a team of contractors to dig a hole, before the engineer can fix it (unless the hole turns out to be in the wrong place...). Dodgy telephone poles that are unsafe to climb can also be a problem.
The best case is when a wire's come adrift, and the engineer just connects it back again.
If the line's down for more than 3 days, you can claim back the line rental for the period in which you had no service. It will be credited to your bill. But remember to ask. -

Help with workflow - Package etc.
We just started using Package to update our running file... a small publication twice monthly, with lots of photos, pdf's etc. instead of the links file getting bigger and bigger with age, package will bring forward only what's repeating, right? - Looks good so far. Now we want to generate our print version, mostly b&w, some spot color, but offer advertisers the option of sending color ads to be used on the web version. First impression is, they're gungho... Haven't figured out how to get this accomplished just yet. Thought to make up the regular file, save, make plates etc. then copy, swap the color stuff in and make PDF's for the web... but where to put the color stuff, in the regular link folder, it'll start growing immediately, but maybe still manageable. Making sense? Any good ideas would be welcome... the web version is frontlinebuses.com (((it's elementary, we know... we're really bus folks, not design artists...))).. Well, that's what everyone says rith up to the point where the file fails catastrophically, usually just before deadline. Consider yourself luck and living a good life.
Save As isn't going to get rid of cumulative corruption, it just either overwrites or creates a new copy of the file with the same corrupt components. It will remove useless change history, though. When you start fresh from the template each time you are always saving a second-generation file so the odds of problems are vastly smaller than the odds with a 52nd generation file. -

Hacking an iPhone for any reason is against Apple's license agreement for the iPhone and is not supported by Apple directly or indirectly via these discussions. You will get no help here with a hacked iPhone.

okay not sure how this works so here i go again.
Okay i bought a dell pc with windows 8 (big mistake) i downloaded itunes and from my external hard drive, right clicked a movie file (in ipad format, because this worked in vista on my old laptop) and it will not go into itunes. And itunes keeps crashing. Is there a glitch with win 8 and itunes ? I never had this prob with vista. I would right click a file and say open with itunes and poof it goes in the library. Please help before i throw this thing out the window! OH newest itunes is what i have installed.Take a look at this MBP, a refurbished unit. Don't let the late 2011 release date put you off. For about $500 less than an equivalent 'new' one with similar specifications you get a quad core CPU and excellent graphics. As Steve359 mentioned, this can be upgraded if the need arises and has the same warranty as a 'new' one
I would not be surprised that these may actually be 'new' MBPs due to the length of time that they have been replaced by the current generation. I purchased a 17" model about 5 weeks ago, and a serial number check suggests that it is 9 weeks old.

I am trying to install iTunes on my laptop that runs Windows 8.1
I have tried several solutions discussed in similar questions but none worked
-uninstalled and reinstalled
-cleaned C drive for all Apple products
-tried to install security update’ Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update’ but the same error appeared
-Windows module installer is enabled
I always get this error

I have Adobe 5.0, original disk, 6.0 upgrade, original disk, and Adobe CS2. I'd like to install in my new computer with Win.8.1. Can you help?
Forget about all the versions you already have (5.0 through to CS2). They will no longer work and the serial numbers are redundant.
Download the non-activation version of CS2 form the link provided by kglad and use the new non-activation serial number provided at that link. Your existing serial number(s) will no longer work.
Note: there is no guarantee that CS2 will run well on Win 8.1. Try it and see.
