I just bought a Dell U2412m 24inch monitor. Excited because I know how good this monitor is when connected to a MacBook Pro and then when it got here I hooked it up to my mid-2010 MacBook Pro and all I get is a flickering every 3-4 seconds. If I keep the brighntess low (20%) it doesn't flicker??!? I have tried both the mini-display to DVI to monitor and mini-display to HDMI to HDMI/DVI adapter. Any ideas or comments please!     PROBLEM
    Apple will not replace, as promised, the iPhone 5 (A1429 GSM model) that they gave me in London, UK, with an iPhone 5 (A1429 CDMA model).
    BACKGROUND
    My iPhone 5 (A1429 CDMA model) was purchased this year in September on an existing Verizon Wireless (VZW) line using an upgrade. The purchase took place in California and the product was picked up using Apple Personal Pickup through the Cerritos Apple Retail Store. I will refer to this phone at my "original" phone.
    The original phone was taken into the Apple Store Regent Street in London, England, UK on November 15, 2012. The reason for this visit was that my original phone's camera would not focus.
    The Apple Store Regent Street verified there was a hardware problem but was unable to replace the part.
    The Apple Store Regent Street had me call the US AppleCare. At first they denied support, but then a supervisor, name can be provided upon request, approved the replacement of my original phone with an iPhone 5 (A1429 GSM model) as a temporary solution until I got back in the US. And approved that the GSM model would be replaced with a CDMA model when I came back to the US. I will refer to the GSM model as the "replacement". They gave me the case number --------.
    The Apple Store Regent Street gave me the replacement and took the original. The first replacement did not work for reasons I do not understand. They switched out the replacement several times until they got one that worked on the T-Mobile nano SIM card that I had purchased in England, UK. Please refer to the repair IDs below to track the progression of phones given to me at the Apple Store Regent Street:

    The following case number was either created in the UK or France between November 15 to November 24. Case number -----------
    On November 19, 2012, I went to France and purchased an Orange nano SIM card. The phone would not activate like the first two repair IDs above.
    On November 24, 2012, I went to the Apple Store Les Quatre Temps. The Genius told me that my CDMA phone should not have been replaced with a GSM model in the UK and that this was clearly Apple's fault. They had me call the AppleCare UK.
    My issue was escalated to a tier 2 UK AppleCare agent. His contact information can be provided upon request. He gave me the case number -----------.
    The UK tier 2 agent became upset when he heard that I was calling from France and that the France Apple Store or France AppleCare were not helping me. He told me that my CDMA phone should not have been replaced with a GSM model in the UK and that this was clearly Apple's fault.
    The UK tier 2 agent said he was working with engineers to resolve my problem and would call me back the next day on November 25, 2012.
    While at the Apple Store Les Quatre Temps, a Genius switched the phone given to from repair ID ----------- with a new one that worked with the French nano SIM card.
    Also, while at the Apple Store Les Quatre Temps, I initiated a call with AppleCare US to get assistance because it seems that AppleCare UK was more upset that France was not addressing the issue rather than helping me. I have email correspondance with the AppleCare US representative.
    A Genius at the Apple Store Les Quatre Temps switched the replacement with a new GSM model that worked on the French SIM card but would not work if restored, received a software update, or had the SIM card changed. This is the same temporary solution I received from the Apple Store Regent Street in the UK.
    By this point, I had spent between 12-14 hours in Apple Store or on the phone with an AppleCare representative.
    Upon arriving in the US, I went to my local Apple Store Brea Mall to have the replacement switched with a CDMA model. They could not support me. He told me that my CDMA phone should not have been replaced with a GSM model in the UK and that this was clearly Apple's fault. My instructions were to call AppleCare US again.
    My call with AppleCare US was escalated to a Senior Advisor, name can be provided upon request, and they gave me the case number -----------. After being on the phone with him for over an hour, his instructions were to call the Apple Store Regent Street and tell them to review my latest notes. They were to process a refund for a full retail priced iPhone 5 64BG black onto my credit card so that I could use that money to buy a new iPhone 5 64GB black at the Apple Store Brea Mall to reoslve the problem.
    The Apple Store Regent Street did not process my refund. He, name can be provided upon request, told me that the AppleCare US did not do a good job reviewing my case, that they were incapable of getting to the bottom of it like they were, and instructed me to call AppleCare US and tell them to review this case number and this repair id. I asked if he read the notes from the AppleCare US Senior Advisor and he would not confirm nor deny. When I offered to give him the case number he accepted but it seemed like would do no good. Our call was disconnected. When I tried calling back the stores automated system was turned on and I could not get back through.
    Now I have the full retail price of an iPhone 5 64GB black CDMA on my credit card and Apple will not process the refund as they said they would.
    I've, at this point, spent between 14-16 hours at Apple Stores or on the phone with AppleCare representatives, and still do not have the problem resolved.
    SOLUTION
    AppleCare US and AppleCare Europe need to resolve their internal family issues without further impacting their customers.
    Apple is to process a refund to my credit card for the cost of a full retail priced iPhone 5 64GB black.
    DESIRED OUTCOMES
    I have an iPhone 5 (A1429 CDMA model) that works in the US on VZW as it did before I received the replacement phone in the UK.
    Apple covers the cost of the solution because I did not create the problem.
    Apple resolves their internal issue without costing me more time, energy, or money.
    This becomes a case study for AppleCare so that future customers are not impacted like I have been by their support system.
    Does anyone have recommendations for me?

    Thanks, but I've been on the phone with AppleCare US (where I am and live) and AppleCare UK. They continue bouncing me back and forth without helping resolve the problem.
    Perhaps someones knows how to further escalate the issue at Apple?

    Ok...everytime i plug my ipod into my cpu it freezes at "do not disconnect" everytime and it still be frozen when i unplug it also. i tried resetting it and restoring it but it still freezes.My Cpu only reads it in disk mode but it does no good because it freezes my cpu sometimes too. do you think my hard drive is destroyed. sometimes it make a weird little screeching sound.do you think its because of not removing it safely?????Is there anything i can do from stop it from doing that???help apple help

    If in fact you do restore the iPod and you are unable to get it working properly, or if you are unable to restore the iPod at all, your iPod may need to be sent in for service.

    In the future, you want to make sure you ALWAYS eject your iPod before simply disconnecting the cable, as connecting improperly too often can crash the iPod's hard drive.

    You're not addressing Apple here, you are addressing a user based community.  An Apple employee may read your post but he/she will not officially respond to it.
    You didn't say if your networking is Wi-Fi or USB Dongle based so I'm assuming Wi-Fi in this response. If you do a search of the forums you will find that quite a few are having Wi-Fi issues with Lion--things that worked fine with Snow Leopard are flakey or don't work at all with Lion so your problem may be another instance of the Wi-Fi issues in Lion.  If not, then perhaps someone with knowledge of your specific issue will post.  I see my other Macs (MBP, 24" iMac, 27" iMac all running Lion) fine but I don't have a PC to test.

    I couldn't find the edit button on my original post so I am posting an update here.
    I have gone through more apps and have had good luck on all but one more.  And it's not that the app doesn't work, I am talking about the Yahoo Weather app, It works fine, but when you swipe between cities the screen lags a bit and it sometimes doesn't move between pages the way it should.  On iOS 7.1.2 it was smooth as butter but on iOS 8.0, not so much.  I will post a note in the app store to let them know.  I really like the Yahoo app better than the new stock app.
    I have been going through my games and they all work fine. Angry Birds (Original and Stella), Canabalt, Minecraft, Bejeweled 2, Silly Walks, PopWords, Doodle Jump, Deep Green all seem to work just fine. 
    Starbucks app works as it should. 
    I will stop back again next week after I have had the weekend to play with it in detail and post my thoughts again.

    The lack of an iTunes store and AppStore in my country(Macedonia) is frustrating, as would many other users agree. My question is not why, but how can I help apple achieve this? How can I help create both the iTunes and App store? I believe that many developers in Macedonia are more than willing to become iOS Developers, and there is a lot of music, books and movies to go around too.     Launch iTunes.
    Select iTunes Store in the source list on the left.
    Go to the bottom of the window and click the round flag icon.
    Europe > Macedonia
    Same for the Mac App Store.

    From the Mail menu bar, select
    Window ▹ Connection Doctor
    Look for the unwanted SMTP (outgoing mail) account in the window that opens. Double-click it. Another window will open, showing a list of all the outgoing mail accounts. The unwanted one will be selected. Click the minus-sign button to delete it, then click OK.
    If there's more than one unwanted account, repeat.

    Then make sure to regularly backup, backup, backup all your important data .

    i´m new in this board & sorry for my bad english.
    i have read a lot of threads around the world over the MacBook mooing problem.
    Many customers wil ship their MB back to Apple to replace the MB.
    I called many times the Apple support (germany) and non of the representative had heard of the mooing issue with the MB. I can´t believe it, when i read all the topics (and there are many many many posts)!
    An special technician (second or third level support) that i speek had say, i should post in the Apple discus board, to collect more details. Thos board will read from special team, that does read this forum to collect peak problems.
    Please let us help Apple to find more details to the mooing (ant the resulting heat) problem.
    PLEASE DO NOT DISCUSE ABOUT THE PROBLEM, THERE´S A LOT OF THREADS ALLREADY.
    Let us only post the serial number of the mooing macbooks to limit the mooing problem to a production series.
    Some users have replaced his MB and become one that does not mooing or whining, i´s possible, that the problem is only a series of MB´s.

    My iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPad 2 are running 6.1.3 with no such problem and the same with the overwhelming majority of iOS devices running 6.1.3.

    I have had an iphone2,iphone3gs and now i have the iphone 4s for about 8 weeks,first my battery got extremely hot and then i had to regularly reset the network settings to get a decent edge or 3G connection.
    now since i have had the phone it has jumped between edge and 3G to the point of me wanting to throw it against a wall,but the last week i have had the phone jump between between no service and edge signal(mostly no service)so here is a list of everything i have done but its still not working:
    1)reset network settings
    2)reset entire phone from general settings
    3)hard reset from pressing home and lock button simultaneously
    4)loaded new ios5.1
    5)fooled around with every possible setting putting it on and off checking for signal
    6)and no,its not my sim,its a brand new microsim.
    i got some signal this morning when i put the 3G off(because you can now do that with new ios5.1) long enough to download an app from the i store(i had to because when i tried to open up an app from my home screen it doesnt open,looks like its about to open then just closes itself immediately.
    does anyone else have these problems,im frustrated with this,im a looooong time apple and mac user but im getting fedup right now,istores are also clueless...

    i am in south africa and currently on the mtn network,network is fine as no one else is experiencing internet problems.

  • Need help: Apple TV / iPad airplay did work, but now does only partially.

    Until today, my iPad and iPod Touch have worked flawlessly with my Apple TV.  I've made no changes to any device or network settings, but now my iPad won't mirror or even play sound through my TV setup.   Strangely, my iPod still can.  Also, both devices can still control the Apple TV itself using the remote app.
    What happens is that the toggle. Switch flips back from Apple TV to IPad almost instantly.  A couple times I was able to get the mirroring toggle to stick and actually show up on the TV for a few seconds, but it never lasts and it will not accept the audio even for that second (whatever is playing pauses).
    I've rebooted the iPad and that hasn't helped.
    Ideas?

    Update:  the iPod WAS working with AirPlay, but it turns out to be intermittent.  Three consecutive attempts now when trying it the same thing happens:  for a moment the airplay icon will display blue, then it hangs a few seconds, the icon turns white again and the audio pauses.  Wile typing this it finally worked on the fourth attempt.
