Help! Audigy 2 NX vs. Audigy 2 ZS Noteb

I have a very nice notebook that i use to play games and music on as well as movies all the time. I would like to have a good sound card to get for it, and i currently have a NX, because it was external. I also have a 7. setup so i need a card that can support. But i have recently found a new pcmcia card by Creative that has caught my attention. Does the ZS notebook have an onboard processor like the NX? And if it doesn't, will it affect a computer with a two processor computer at 3.2 Ghz at all? especially for games, i want NO lag online and perfect sound. And what about power supply? how much does it use? and will it effect the comp. when on battery a lot? i also would like to know if it will broadcast sound on the built in speakers with it. My laptop has harman/kardon speakers that are wonderful, and i love to use them on the road. please help!
basicly which sound card is best for a laptop w/ XP media center 2005, 3.2 Ghz Processor HT, 680x050 res, GB ram and 00GB hard dri've. which is best? Help!
thanks

come on people, does anyone respond to this>? i really need to know. and soon. or is this a waste of my time.

• PLEASE HELP Audigy 2 zs Platinum issue, reading noise from Line i

Hello, any help at all you can give will be greatly appreciated.
I recently installed my Audigy 2 zs Platinum on my computer, it was working fine until I began to record, It was working fine for the first 2 hours of recording however we disconnected the microphone from line in 2 and connected a bass guitar, then it started registering nosie from the line in 2 jack, we the disconnected the bass guitar and the noise continued. I have completly uninstalled all the creative drivers and reinstalled them, as well as checked the cable connections. I have noticed some other odd behaviors, if I plug headphones into the front microphone jack I do not hear static only a sort of blipping like that of a metranome. however if i use my speakers i hear large amounts of static with the blipping in the background, I also tested my speakers with a walkman and they play sound perfectly. All diagnostics tests have come back with everything passing. Any help you can give at all with this would be greatly appreciated.
I am running:
XP Pro with service pack 2 (installed a long time before sound card)
nvida graphics card
Pentium 4 with hyper threading
Syntax mother board
tdk cd dri've
maxtor hard dri've

Old_School,
A line level out shouldn't cause any problems but it may still be that there is a hardware problem here. To help diagnose this, I would ask that you cleansweep and reinstall the card. Use the instructions here to do this:

What you describe sounds rather extreme, but this might have to do with wdm driver problems on Win98se. CL doesn't really publicize this much, and I don't know if its true for the newest cards, but it's been possible to install vxd drivers instead. I believe this has been an option in the ctzapxx program, so look for that program on your install CD (presuming you have been installing from CD) and try it.

• Help Audigy 2 ZS Platinum w/ I/O Drive and Remote + Logitech Z55

hi, I am wondering if i connect the optical digital output in the front of the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum to my Logitech Z5500 optical digital input, will i be able to get sourround sound when i play CD or mp3 files? If it works, do i need to change some settings? Or is there a way i can get sourround sounds through the Z5500? If i cant get sourround sound, never mind. thanks alot.

The 4 pin connector is plugged in and the larger 4 pin connector is plugged into the power supply but I've got a spare power cable just like it that I want to try and I can't seem to unplug the smaller connector. Is it even possible to do this?

• My sub works but no sound plz help audigy

i have audigy 2zs and 5. sicuro all works but sub

Go to the EAX panel and shut off all effects, then run the speaker tests. Also, I found (Using an O-scope checking the voltage levels of a properly terminated channel) that the output voltage level of the subwoofer channel is 20% of the other 5 channels.
My solution was to spend $50 and buy an ARTcessories HEADAMP and some cables/adapters to give it some gain. Even with the?HEADAMP maxed, I'd like more so I could shake the floor apart with my 0W RMS/CH Peavey amps and JBLs. Very close to happy.
Got some 60 cycle hum out of the 2zs card (very, very low) I can't get rid of though. Even after attaching EVERYTHING (but the mouse and keyboard) to the master grounding block for the entire house with individually run #0 wires. Even when the PC is off. Interesting.

• PLEASE HELP: AUDIGY 4 REMOTE BIG DISAPPOINTM

Hello,
I need a fix for the rm-500 controller. This huge screen that I'm getting when I try to use it is really lame and it's freaking me out. You know that blue screen some sadist called "entertainment center" that takes over the whole monitor. You can't minimize it, there's nothing you can do about it but turn it off. I want to be able to control with this remote other progs like winamp etc., the way it is with Audigy 2. I'm sure there is a hack somewhere. I can't imagine other owners of this card not using the remote it came with! Please share. Any valuable info is greatly appreciated.
P.S. Also there's no support for the most popular m3u playlist format? This just cannot be. Is there an update or hack to fix this? Thanks again

Finally got in touch with tech support. They said that other programs are supported and that I need to reinstall. I need some feedback please. From what I heard so far was that other programs/devices are disabled for rm-500. Thanks

Witout the Dolby Li've encoder all you'll get out of an spdif is a stereo PCM signal.
You need Creative's DDL or redocneXk.

• Vista drivers problems Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Noteb

First thing to do: haveyour systemchecked out, if windows says the hardware is failing there may really be something wrong with it.
If the SB card works in an XP machine there may be a problem in the the PCI slot or controller on the motherboard, either way have a tech shop look at it. If thehardware allchecks out: before putting the card back in completely delete the old driver and software, download the new one without installing it, then put the card in and windows should try to auto-install with the new driver.P.S. the platinum version is the one with thecontrol panel that slots into a dri've bay, if you have one of those, it's a platinum, if not, it's a regulHi all, how are you
I have a Sony VAIO VGN-SZ430N/B notebook, and I'm trying to install Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook on it (Unfortunately, the notebook came with windows vista business from factory).
This notebook has a Texas Instruments PCMCIA controller.
Under "Device Manager" the PCMCIA controller is described as "Texas
Instruments PCI-8x2/7x2/6x2 CardBus Controller", but on Sony's
webpage the driver that seems to be related to it is "Texas
Instruments PCI74 Integrated FlashMedia Controller Driver".
It is kind of all in one solution from Texas Instruments (PCMCIA
controller, Memory Card reader, and Firewire controller).
Please, may someone help me to answer the questions bellow
1)Are there any kind of compatibility problem between this notebook PCMCIA controller (described above), and Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook
2)I've already brought this notebook to Sony's support service, so they could verify if there is any kind of hardware problem with the notebook. Sony's technician wasn't able to find any hardware problems on it, but I'm experiencing the problem described below:
2.)Every time that I plug this sound card on my notebook, and I try to install Creative's latest windows Vista drivers(Creative Sound Blaster Audigy series Vista Driver 2.2.0002), thus It leads me to a Blue Screen during the driver installation process. Please, Does somebody know what could be this problem root causeIt is very weird, even if i try to install this sound card on clean windows vista install, then it leads me to blue screen. Besides, I have another PCMCIA card from another manufacturer, and I was able to install its windows vista drivers with no problem.(It sounds that Creative labs' vista drivers is the problem root cause as I've tested this sound card on a different notebook with windows xp and It worked fine).
3)Does anyone know if creative is planning to release a windows vista driver that allows the users to use all of this sound card featuresSo far the latest driver available doesn't support even DVD-Audio. Have creative labs discontinued this product
I appreciate any help you can give me,
thanks in advance,
Rogerr ZS.

The best advice I can give is to fully remove ALL Creative software. We've compiled a list of entries that will cause problems here. It's very important before installing newer files.http://nomoregoatsoup.wordpress.com/...tall-problems/Then install some better drivers and see if that cures your issues. The 2.2.0002 drivers are really, really awful, 99% of people I've spoken to had problems with them. I personally like 2.5.0002 Hope this helps.

• Blue Screen constantly after installing Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Noteb

I don't knwo what to do, my computer is now completely non-functional, I am on my wifes laptop so that I can write this
I installed the Audigy 2ZS Notebook on my laptop and I went to reboot, after the reboot I get the blue screen every time after about 30 seconds, always.
i am now down a laptop and I can't reach CL tech support because they are "closed"
can anyone help me?
The blue screen is always "a process or thread crucial to the system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated"
I have a emachines M530
AMD .8ghz mobile
52mb ramATI Radeon IGP320M
AC97 On board audio
I am in safe mode right now trying to do some things to fix it, but nothing is workiing. I eveni deleted ALL sound drivers out of the system, that didn't work
I also tried downloading the latest install from Creative Labs and installing it, that didn't work either
I am have seen other forum posts about upgrading bios and all that, but I really don't have much desire to go into all that, fact is this software shoudl work and not mess up people computers

Well, in all honesty, I don't see how you can come on here telling me to use the email support when that is just what I did, and have YET to recieve an answer back.... I came on here expecting some sort of a response, from users or tech support, and I didn't get either, while at the same time I submitted a support ticket through the email support system, I didn't get a response there either. So, you "scolding" me for using this forum and getting frustrated is like slapping the thirsty african child for trying to drink from the ri'ver while the locked off water fountain is right next to him. I was venting my frustration from the lack of response through email on here so that other can maybe think twice before buying a creative product if they expect prompt support for their purchases.
I am not having the issue again, I used the downloaded updated drivers from the creative site. All is well, and while I dread if any issues actually do happen to come up again, it seems to be working fine.
btw, once again, let me state, that it is going on 2 days now and someone has yet to email me back from tech support. I am glad I was all right with formatting, I can't imagine what some of your other customers would do if they installed your software and their computer crashed.

• No optical input on Audigy 2 ZS Noteb

I have the Audigy 2 ZS Notebook in a Toshiba Satellite P5-S409. I'm using a mini-to-Toslink cable to connect the input on the ZS to the optical out on the DVD player. I'm getting no sound in the notebook. I've covered the basic troubleshooting steps, e.g. making sure the input isn't muted. I've also tried connecting the ZS input to other optical out sources with no results, so I'm fairly certain the problem isn't related to settings in the DVD player.
Can anyone please suggest a fix? This is getting extremely frustrating.

Right, I've got a little further. I have plugged a DVD player into the Audigy box with a different cable (composite-composite, not scart-compostite any more) and it is working. Since I know that the VCR is working, I guess it must have been the scart-compostite cable that was giving me trouble.
Trouble is, I only have RF and scart outputs from the VCR. :-( I'll see if I can get hold of a different VCR and possibly a S-Video cable as well to test that.

Hi
You may first need to patch the driver package by using ctcomp.exe to get std. drivers (eg. not Dell specific) installed to your Dell PC. Search this forum after ctcomp.exe --> there you'll find some instructions too.
You can also find a link to the latest drivers available (I personally use Audigy 4 drivers from november 2005 --> can be found from creative support pages) by searching this forum (I think the latest WHQL version is .~62 for the original version).

• Please Help:(,Unable to capture from camcorder using Audigy 2 ZS Video Edi

Hi there! Well I have been trying to use the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 zs video editor to transfer Hi8 tapes from my camcorder (Samsung SLC860) to my laptop (Compaq presario, AMD Athlon 64 3200+, .25 GB RAM, xp). I have successfully done this before *sort of*. Before i was able to capture video from my camcorder without the sound. But now I cant even capture video! I get an error when using Ulead VideoStudio 8 SE reading: 5065:29:0. Please help, anything would be great! Thank you! Oh, i've tried reinstalling the drivers already, didnt work. P.S. I connect the camcorder to the Creative Audigy using S-Video. I have also tried A/V out from the camcorder to video-in on the Audigy. I have also downloaded VidCap and other driver updates from Creative but those didn't work either. I've tried VidCap other capture programs, none worked. Any help would be great. Thank you!

Hi there! Thanks for the reply, unfortunately, I've tried VidCap and it wont let me capture either. The Start button on Step 3 isn't acti've. Its not bold, and when i click on it nothing happens. But under device manager and Sound, Video and game controllers, there are alot of things. They are as followed: Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, Legacy Video Capture Drivers, Media Control Devices, Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor Audio Device, Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Video Editor Video Device, SoundMAX Intergrated Digital Audio, Video Codecs. Do you think any of these could be interfering with one another? If so, which ones can be safely disabled? I've also tried downloading all the necessary updates for VidCap and I've even tried reinstalling the Audigy card many times. I am able to see the preview of the video on both programs VidCap and VideoStudio but I just can't capture. Once again, the error message on VideoStudio is: 5065:29:0. Thank you so much, hopefully I hear from ya soon and this can be fixed.

Once I install the operating system (Win XP) and move to the installation of Creative Audigy Platinum Sound card. All the applications are installed and the system hangs while updating *drivers*. I restarted but it corrupts the whole operating system conflicting with Display Driver, Mainboard driver as well as Windows. CD/DVD Rom also disappear. I then reinstalled operating system again. I would like to request for help and solving this issue and I dont want to get rid of Creative Audigy. I have heard complaints with Hyper-threading technology but I disabled it and the same problem occured. I tried everything e.g. latest drivers from Creative website, BIOS updates, Driver updates etc etc. The problem starts once the drivers are to be updated for Creative Audigy Platinum.Anticipating your response soon.Regards,

Hi Jeremy,
I would like to thank you for your kind assistance with my problem.
Heres the good news, I finally managed to install and run my Creative Audigy Platinum perfectly.
Credit goes to your assitance and support.
For your info, I would like you to know what I really did.
I have an Intel Genuine 865GBF mainboard. I installed clean copy of Windows XP (SP) and downloaded and installed latest Chipset INF utility from Intel website. I guess this utility tells the mainboard what kind of hardware is configured on the board.
Please note that I did not add any PCI card except the AGP graphics card.
After finishing Windows XP, I installed the Creative Audigy Card in a different PCI slot. When windows started, it detected the sound card installed.
I simply ran the driver and programs from the Creative CD and it installed perfectly. I then updated the drivers downloaded from the Sound Blaster site in correct order.
After finishing with Creative Audigy Platinum installation. I installed other hardware devices, service packs, AV and applications.
Its the third day and everything is running well.
I just wrote the steps if someone else faces the same problem, he/she can sort it out the same way.
Thanks again for your help.
Best regards,
